I normally don't write reviews unless someone really deserves it, good or bad. We just moved in, and although this is a gorgeous property in a pretty nice area, the real star of this place is TANNER, the Property Manager, who has been taking EXCELLENT CARE of us every step of the way. After searching for months for a new place, knowing our time to move was coming soon, nothing felt right... "Self-guided tours", ambiguous answers to questions, hidden fees, and unresponsive agents. From the moment we first stepped on the Eastside Apartments property, we felt genuinely welcomed by Tanner and got a great tour of the grounds. We were impressed by the combination of clear communication, professionalism, personalism, thoroughness, and attention to detail in our requests that Tanner provided... quick to respond, always followed up after to make sure we were satisfied with the answer/solution, and was very patient with us through the entire application process and move-in procedure. I am a Customer Care Manager and would be THRILLED to have someone like Tanner on my team. Honestly, I feel like I've even learned a thing or two from how Tanner handled everything with us! EASTSIDE APARTMENTS, you should be PROUD to have TANNER as a representative of your company. Another person definitely worth mentioning is RAUL, who I believe is the Maintenance Manager. We had an issue with our shower right when we moved in, and Raul showed up first thing Monday morning, with a very pleasant demeanor, and had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. Incredible. Would give more stars if I could. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone I know, or anyone who's looking for a place to live! read more

I moved into Eastside two weeks ago, and Tanner was amazing from the start. He was professional, super sweet, and great at answering all my questions. He made sure I had everything I needed from start to finish and continued to check in on me after I was moved in! I had one issue with my shower and after calling Tanner it was fixed that afternoon. This is an amazing community in a great part of Costa Mesa on the East side! I've lived here for almost a year and a half and love it here. The property is very well kept, management is on top of things and there's a beautiful pool and Jacuzzi in all three complexes. Apartments are spacious and up-to-date and you can walk to a ton of bars, restaurants and activities in the area. Highly recommend! read more

My girlfriend and I have lived at Eastside Apartments for 2+ years now and have had a really great experience. The property is consistently clean and well maintained, which makes day-to-day living easy. This is all thanks to Raul and the maintenance team who truly do a great job. They're always responsive, easy to work with, and make sure things are taken care of whenever something comes up. It's reassuring knowing the place is well looked after. The neighbors are great as well, and the overall vibe (across each of the 3 Eastside apartment complexes on E 18th St) is relaxed and friendly. The location is another big plus -- close to the beach, quick freeway access, and plenty of good restaurants and spots nearby. I would never recommend this place not even to my worst enemy! Does that make my point? They have no accountability, They violate your civil rights. They retaliate against you when you complain and point out their lack of response and action. The previous director is toxic, still lives here and goes around talking about everybody She doesn't like! Defamation of character and violating your civil rights telling other people, You're a scary mean ( in my case ) veteran getting other tenants to join in. If you're a military veteran do not ever move to this place! I had people harassing me and bullying me putting cameras pointing on my unit. That's a California law and violation. Rather than make her, take her cameras down. I moved and she/they still try to bother me even with all that evidence and a potential lawsuit. This apartment complex willingly injures me & insults me while violating my civil rights in discussion. And even when all the caselaw and issues are pointed out, they can't help themselves, but continue. AMC advanced management company, Awful management company is more like. The funny thing is they'll try and communicate with me after this post and act like what's wrong why are you so upset? Most of my problems started when I addressed a young lady who had let her dog jump all over my son's leg instead of restraining her dog. And my son felt claws through his pants. That's not OK, There's no excuse there's no reason I like dogs too, but humans come first especially children!!. I never yelled at her when I handle the issue. She cursed me out and told me she felt sorry for my son. I hope anyone and everyone who has any common sense is not taken by the fact that their price is about 15% lower than the other neighborhood Complexes. Trust me you can do better. It's not worth it. Sure, there are some really nice decent people that live here, unfortunately the ones who feel entitled acting as if the policies don't apply to them contribute along with management creating a very toxic community. They have a new director don't know the person, but the problem is beyond the local director. It's the entire company. I will never have anything to do with an AMC property once I leave here. read more

I just had to leave a review because I had the best experience with Tanner, the property manager. Somehow, one of my packages ended up getting delivered at the property, and I live out of town. (Not sure how that happened)... The company that sent the package was very unhelpful, not willing to acknowledge their mistake. So I figured I would reach out to the property manager to see if they could speak to the tenant and retrieve my package. Tanner was delightful from the first moment I spoke to him. He never Made me feel like I was asking for too much or annoying him in anyway even though this request was absolutely not his responsibility, he Went above and beyond to help me happily. I was able to get a QR code for the packages return, sent that over to Tanner and he personally took my package to UPS and returned it for me, emailed me a receipt and all with such a great attitude! He was attentive, he called me back when I left A message, he was so polite and basically did this favor for me out of the kindness of his heart. If you ever have the opportunity to interact with Tanner, I'm sure you'll get a great experience! read more

I just moved out of Eastside after 2 1/2 years there, and I'm so sad to leave! It's such a cute community, and I'm so appreciative of the staff there. Lee (Community Director) and Raul (Head of Maintenance) are amazing! They were always kind and so accommodating and communicative. I had an issue in my apartment when I was out of the country, and they stepped in and took care of everything for me. They always went above and beyond, and it made me feel like I was in good hands while living there. The community is broken into three different sections. I think I was in the smallest one, near the leasing office. It's conveniently located near so many walkable places (gyms, restaurants, bars, shopping). I never had any issues with neighbors being too loud or rude. Overall, my experience there was great, and I'll miss my time there! read more

It has its ups and downs. Rent hikes are a regular thing. Overpriced - we have 3 washers and 3 dryers for 24 units (almost all of them are double occupancy) and 1 washer is ALWAYS out of order, causing a gridlock for the laundry. The community is wide open to 18th st and Rochester, so many strangers that don't live here walk through constantly (including many with dogs that don't live here). We have had, more than once, homeless people bathing in our hot tub. Instead of spending money on gating at least one side of the property and making it safer, or even ensuring we have working laundry, they are doing major demolition to take away all of the grass and trees (I'm sure for tax credits) and replace with rocks. Constant construction noise now, with a "hopeful" promise we'll have access restored to our pool and jacuzzi by Memorial weekend (so we're without full amenities for the next 2-3 months). Meanwhile, another rent increase, in the middle of disrupting our lives with all of this construction. Their reason is "the rent is keeping up with prices in the area" - yeah prices of units that that have washer and dryers in-unit and safer communities that people from the street and the bars don't just walk through regularly. (Btw their answer to all of the safety concerns was to hire security who only comes once at night to kick people out of the pool at 10pm.) We went through a period where all of our mail was getting stolen. Management refused to do anything about it until the residents banded together and contacted higher level management. Sounds like we could use a Tennant's association so we have someone actually focusing on what the residents want vs what the management company wants. There are some great positives about the complex, but at this point with rent being increased while we don't have all working laundry nor access to our pool/jacuzzi and constant construction - it's a huge let down. read more

I'm going on 3 years at Eastside and still love it. Lee / Community Manager is so responsive, kind and welcoming. Top- notch at her job...and approach to life. Raul is excellent...often fixes your request the same day. And he goes above and beyond. Hi! I am a current resident here at Eastside Apartments and for the first few months it was a pleasure living in the apartments! They neighbors asked extremely friendly and sweet! As time progressed after the COVID-19 pandemic the main landlord began to target me as a resident. Mind you, I am a great resident because I pay my rent accordingly and I don't party at all but I have been treated as such & slowly began being treated unfairly. First, it began with a noise complaint for my dog that supposedly was barking (when she was not) Second, the landlord came out of apartment at exactly 9:59 PM for 2 nights in a row (her apartment is right in front of the pool) and told me that I needed to leave the pool area due to the cut off for the pool is 10pm as we were getting ready to leave. Third, the landlord came out of her apartment and told me to keep my voice down at 8 PM on a Saturday night while I was in the parking lot, away from the other apartments. Fourth, the landlord notified me that I was $50 late for a pet deposit and taxed on another $50 to my rent. Now, mind you my rent has increased $50 dollars each month since I moved in. Rent for a one bedroom apartment was $1950, now it is $2200 per month. Due to the fact I pay a lot of money to live in these apartments and then being reprimanded on top of which and increasing the rent amount every month is just out right ridiculous. Half of the residents have already moved out, I wonder why.My rent has increased drastically since the COVID 19 pandemic due which "by law"is illegal to do in the current state of our nation. I am very displeased and it puts a bad taste in my mouth that they would treat there residents this way. read more

Lee and Raul are the best. I've been living in Eastside now since April 2017 and all 3 properties are kept super clean, tidy and beautiful. The apartments themselves are great, and feature air conditioning and recess lighting. Love having access to a clean pool and jacuzzi too. Every Christmas, Lee and Raul have dropped off little toys for my cats too , and any time I've had an issue with anything in the apartment, Raul is quick to get in there and handle it. And Lee is the most helpful and friendly manager ever. Anytime I have general or leasing questions, she's got answers at the ready with a smile on her face. Love living here read more

Apartment complexes are tricky, and it is rare that a facility gets it right. However, Eastside nails it. The manager, Lee, and her staff are first-class and I very much enjoyed living here for two years. The units are newly renovated, the staff is exceptionally responsive and, for the most part, the grounds are very quiet. I can't thank Lee and Eastside enough for creating one of my favorite living environments. I will truly miss staying here and will always have fond memories of the two years spent at this location. I moved to Eastside in March of this year and all I can say is WOW - I love living here! It's in a premium location, walking distance to tons of great bars and restaurants, and a short drive or bike ride away from Newport Beach! The complex offers multiple pools, jacuzzis, laundry facilities, great parking, and friendly neighbors, too! The apartments are clean, modern, safe, and constantly maintained by the AMAZING staff - Lee and Raul. From day one, Lee has been extremely helpful and kind. She handled the paperwork process seamlessly and is always on top of it. Every time I pass the office, she always gives a warm smile and wave - she truly makes this place feel like home! I've lived here 3 weeks and so far things are great. The property manager Lee was fantastic through the entire process, from touring the complex to completing all of the paperwork and passing off the keys. She was very responsive and friendly. The location is excellent! Proximity to the Triangle and all the shops and food options on 17th St. I had one issue with the apartment upon move-in but Lee and Raul were quick to fix it! So far I've found the community to be quiet and clean. I was a little hesitant about the community laundry but its been relatively painless, with quick cycles and all machines available the 3 times I've done laundry. I'd recommend living here. read more

I cannot say enough nice things about my experience at Eastside Apartments over the past 10 months. When I moved to Costa Mesa, I had a very tight window in finding an apartment. Lee, the manager, was so helpful in explaining the process and walking me through exactly what I needed which was very comforting, especially as an out of state resident. She even let me borrow her TV! After moving, I am just as satisfied! Lee and Raul are always available, always willing to help, and genuinely nice people. Anything that needs to be addressed is always attended to promptly. The apartments themselves are clean and modern, and the grounds are constantly kept so the place is aesthetically pleasing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. From the time I took a tour with the property manager, Lee, to the actual move in date everything was easy. The most stand-out thing to me was the communication and quick reply that I got back with answers to any questions that I had. The complex itself is full of friendly young professionals like myself and is very quiet at night. My dog enjoys playing with the other dogs in the courtyard and everyone does a great job keeping the grounds clean and beautiful. The apartments itself are beautifully remodeled with upgraded appliances and fresh modern designs which really set Eastside a part from the other places I looked at. You cannot ask for a better location. I walk/ride my bike EVERYWHERE and you are steps away from some really great well kept secrets from great restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, bars and so many more hot spots. I feel safe walking to any of these locations and enjoy living here every day! read more

I moved into Eastside Apartments at the beginning of 2017. At that time, it was a very quiet property with reasonable rent for the size of the unit. I was a very happy tenant. But as time went on, my experience living here continually went down hill. Unexplained utility increases. Unaddressed Airbnb in the unit next to me. Increasingly loud and disruptive neighbors. And continually increasing rent that was far above average. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking to get actual value for the rent you will pay here. They are overpriced for their experience and the management makes it clear that profit is their #1 priority, not their tenants. read more

*I would give Negative Star if I could. Horrible communication and spent money here for no reason. Went to see a bedroom asked about a specific price, told to apply and the apartment will be ready. No more info was given even after I asked. Had to constantly ask about what more was needed, did we get the apartment and if there was anything further I needed to do. No and Lee had to constantly wait to confirm because she needed to verify whatever new information I gave her that she needed. Was even huffy to my new employer and could have cost me a job for demanding specific information. (I know this because my employer spoke with me about it) Come to fine out the apartment was $500 more a month once we were ready to sign the lease. After dealing with everything and paying the application fee for an apartment that was more than we wanted to spend was a freaking waste of time and stress that the "Manager" Lee put on my fiancé and I that was unnecessary. We have lived at Eastside Apartments for over 3 years and have loved it. We just moved to buy a house but will miss living here. The complex is extremely well-maintained (Raul is always helpful and quick to resolve any issues). Lee and Eastside management are friendly and professional (Lee always responded to questions/issues promptly and took care of everything we asked). Pool and other amenities were always clean. I have zero complaints and the location is optimal for Costa Mesa - right next to the Triangle and 24 hour fitness. Parking was always available on 18th street for guests, so that is a plus as well. My fiancée and I loved living here for a year, in large part due to the amazing community director Lee Bishop. You could not ask for a more attentive and helpful community director. The hub of keeping this property so nice starts with the Property Director, Manager, Lee Bishop... From the 1st day I stopped in to look at units available through today ~ Lee does an outstanding job!!! From the warm welcome upon meeting her, the rental application process, the day-to-day management of the 3 different buildings on 18th St., Lee maintains a great relationship with all the tenants, like that I have not experienced before! Warm and caring, Lee and her staff are just wonderful... Thorough, thoughtful, super-efficient, accommodating, helpful, incredibly responsive and has a gift of making everyone feel important! And to think this is a corporate leasing co! Lee makes you feel like you are living at her personal property, in the best of ways... I am especially thankful for the lengths she and her staff go to if there is a plumbing issue and the water needs to be turned off. if it happens - and it is not often - Lee is so good about giving everyone sufficient notice and also to which the duration to expect water to be off, which is never long... I attribute the general "ambiance" that is so peaceful and such a friendly place to Lee and her staff's credit... Lee was absolutely amazing and made me incredibly excited to want to live here at the Eastside apartments. My brother and I just applied today and are crossing our fingers that all goes through well and that they find us to be a good fit for tenants for the unit that we applied for because it is exactly what my brother and I were looking for. And being that my brother is fresh out of a College with his first career style job, excited doesn't do justice on how anxious he is to find out if we get to move in to this apartment!
