This place is terrible and the management even worse. Been here almost a year and have had 4 different female managers that will not answer calls unless you owe them money. They have the pool advertised "heated year round" it is not! It is freezing. I complained, they heated for one or 2 days and pool man insists it is 82 degrees. Jacuzzi is filthy. They raise rent 150.00-200.00 every year. They do not care about tenants. No insulation so it is cold in wine and hotter then hell in summer. No AC. The rent paid is not worth it and you pay over one hundred for water, tras, sewage and an administration fee. Update: They jackhammers the pool without letting tenants know. I lived here 5.5 years. Every time they got a good manager or maintenance worker they would lose them quickly because they don't pay their employees a competitive salary. When something needs to be repaired they delay for weeks. Your rent will get raised bi- annually and Baywind management doesn't care about that pay increase. I was the longest standing resident and most people move in and out immediately after their first lease is up. Do not rent here until you talk to the residents. I would pass on this place. They will rip you off and not blink an eye. read more

Most tenants that lived here , they haven't experienced the move out cost yet...reason why they are happy. John and I have never been late we pay our rent timely since 2016. We have owned homes before in the 800k range and two rental properties. My father owned many properties and was a landlord for many years. We take pride in where we live, if it's rented or owned. My profession is mortgage banking, refinance and purchases, I am a Loan Officer by profession and have been in the industry 30+ years. John is a paralegal in the collection field and his expertise is contract law , he works with judgements and law suits for a living 30 + years in the industry. He was the one that reviewed the cost of the expense of other apartment and the deficiencies. The move was one of the worst experience I've ever had I wished we would have moved to a house instead. The maintenance website was not available when we moved here, we were required to email the management for maintenance requests so records of our requests were not recorded to their benefit. When we transferred to a new apartment unit , the cost that were charged from the other apartment was over and above normal wear and tear.. Our old apartment was in better condition than we first moved into it. They fixed it up brand new! New floors, new rug better paint job ...partially on the money you charged us. When we originally moved in, the paint was peeling only after a few month of moving in..the rug was NOT new like they claimed it was...it was older. The pergo was in places coming apart. Our cat is an inside cat and never goes outside.....when moving in and out of the unit and transferring to the new apartment somehow got infested with fleas. Yet they charge for exterminator to spray outside for fleas, I never see them here . There are other animals that live here which makes this place full of fleas. They charged us to flea bomb the unit a few hundred dollars. Was this our fault because Baywind spends less as possible to upkeep this property if it is not needed. ? What we're asking for is fairness. We moved into the transferred apartment and we still have things that maintenance fixed and are still not working properly, the blinds are still not fixed and broke again. The shower doesn't work when we turn it on, we have to use a wrench to turn it on. the screens to the windows a bent and doesn't fit the windows properly. I am being very picky since we know now to claim this on the maintenance website since this maybe will be deducted from the move out cost if we don't report it. read more

What a hidden gem in Costa Mesa! My husband and I had been apartment hunting for weeks and were getting so discouraged - places were either too expensive, too outdated, too dirty, or too unsafe. Not to mention many good places we came across did not allow dogs. We had come across Newport Seacrest Apartments in Newport Beach originally and met with Valerie. While that property was very nice and checked everything off the list, she didn't have anything available for us BUT instead of turning us away she took the time to ask what we were looking for and told us about a place that opened up last minute at Baywind. She offered to meet us at the property and show us the available unit. Once we arrived, we knew we were home! It's such a small, charming, cute community. Neighbors knew each other by name and everyone was so welcoming right from the start. On move-in day people came up to us and shook our hands and took the time to introduce themselves with a warm hello - something we are not used to coming from a HUGE Irvine Company Complex where nobody even bothered to smile at you. It's refreshing to get to know your neighbors and treat each other with respect. We've only been here a week and we absolutely love it! We are quite comfortable here and really enjoy our new 2-bedroom, pet-friendly apartment. Our unit is on the 2nd floor and has beautiful high vaulted ceilings and is recently remodeled. We LOVE all the closet space (4 closets total!) and the mirrored doors are a huge plus. We have plenty of space and love the wood floors throughout. Stephanie & Juan have been so accommodating to us, offering to help answer any questions we have and assist with any needs. After moving in we had some trouble with our kitchen sink and Juan was quick to come to the rescue and address our concern right away - talk about professional service! They are a dynamite team and their dedication to the community does not go unnoticed. Our dog, Vixen, really loves it here too! We have been apartment hunting and came across this community. When I called to ask for info on vacancy I was greeted by a humble voice on the other end of the line by the name of Khanh, she kindly answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable right away. Even though there wasn't availability for my planned move-in date, I was so impressed by how nice it was to speak to someone who wasn't uptight and actually knew their stuff. I truly felt a person like this should not go by unrecognized. From my perspective- that is what a Property Manager should consist of. *Management does not communicate with each other at all so be prepared to be thrown in loops. *While living there I got multiple law firms reaching out to me in regards to the Remm Group not processing paperwork correctly leading to my social security number not being hidden and the public having access to it. *Don't be surprised if you injure yourself on the property due to lack of maintenance from the company *Most of the long term tenants are loud & rude. One neighbor didn't like kids being noisy in the pool and slit holes in all of the lawn chairs. * Had multiple neighbors inform me that they increased their rent with no prior knowledge of this occurring. *Throughout the year of living there I would have different miscellaneous charges on my bc monthly rent that had no explanation of what I was being charged for. When I reached out to management about it they stated it was a "mistake" and that the funds would be reimbursed (which they never were) *Upon move-out I did a walk through of the unit with the property manager when she stated that the apartment was left in great condition and that the standard partial paint fee and cleaning fee would be deducted from the deposit. A month and a half later when I received the total deductions they had charged me $800 for those things It may look like a good deal but it is not worth the hassle. read more

I just moved into a two bedroom two bath and the place is gorgeous! There's loads of space in the living room, all the cabinets in the kitchen with beautiful appliances and a pantry, a double closet master bedroom, and a nice little patio to boot. My roommates and I were lagging a bit on the application (they absolutely needed a garage, I was telling them we had one, long story short we do) but the manager Cashe was a breeze. She patiently guided us all the way through with what we needed and made sure our papers were correct and signed. 5/5 must rent. read more

Baywind Apartment Homes - So much room for activities - Apartments Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

There's a BIG problem with their website it says there are openings and times to view an apartment all day everyday. I got a confirmation and everything. Went there and waited for an hour. No one responds to the email, voicemail, text. The maintenance guy ended up telling me there's zero openings. Someone should fix this as time is money and I planned my entire around seeing this place. Fix the website, take down the openings, take off the time slots. read more

I went in to one of the sister companies in search of a new place to call home. The Manger of that apartment was a joy. But as I was leaving the Manager at the Baywind location "Cashe" came in and told me about a unit at her location. That was perfect! When I say that they took care of me, they really did. I have lived at Baywind for 5 years and am only moving because I am no longer renting. It's been a wonderful place to call home. It's a small community with a nice pool and jacuzzi centralized so all units are very close. Laundry is on site, and my 2 bedroom was on the 2nd floor so it had vaulted ceilings which made the space feel even larger. The location is very convenient, it takes just a minute to get on the 55, yet it's secluded so there isn't freeway noise. It's very close to grocery stores and restaurants as well. I also want to put in a nice note for Alia, the property manager. I always liked the previous manager Dave, but in my opinion Alia has really brought it to the next level. She is professional, prompt, and extremely friendly. My unit was right across the way from hers and she was always so great to me and my two sons. She's been very helpful throughout my move-out process as well. read more

I recently moved into Baywind and it has been a wonderful experience. Valerie (manager) and Michael (maintenance) were both super helpful and so nice to work with. Very easy to work with and responsive to any needs. The location is perfect. I love that it is a smaller sized complex, not too big. The upstairs units have vaulted ceilings which is wonderful. There is surprisingly a lot of storage space for a 1 bedroom apartment. The community is great and welcoming! read more

My experience at Baywind Apartments has been great! It is a cute, quant and charming properly that feels like I'm on vacation. It is in the perfect location, close enough to the beach, nightlife and freeways but also far enough to not be in the chaos of the peninsula:) I love that it's super close to Mother's market and 17th street (good shops!) They seem to hire good property managers here. Dave was nice and helpful. Alia is the new manager and she's been great so far. She seems to work a lot but still takes time to answer my questions when I leave voicemails or text her, makes me feel welcome and I can tell she loves her job and the people that live here. I hope this properly continues to only attract the best people because it truly is a hidden gem :) read more

Don't. Just don't. I was asked by Valerie the old manager to write the previous review when I first moved in. Valerie lasted a few months before becoming one in a long string of managers over the last 3.5 years. The paint began peeling in the apartment shortly after move in. The hot tub is always broken and once stained a resident's nieces hair. Things in the apartment broke constantly. At one point they were planning on doing apartment inspections on a semi regular basis as if it was a college dorm. Some residents had their apartments entered without notice. Our garage was broken into one night. The rent is (relatively) cheap at first but they hike it every chance they get without providing any amenities and you WILL pay through the nose in hidden fees. We hired professional cleaners when we moved out and they still had the nerve to charge a cleaning fee. For the first few years of living there the neighbors were all incredible--the one redeeming quality of this place, but the last year we lived there some of the women in the apartments had told me they had been threatened or yelled at by new tenants. NOTHING in this place is what it should be for what you pay to live there. read more

The property Manager Stephanie Bates is by far the best property manager that has been here and I've been here almost 3 years with 3 different property mangers, Hands down the best one yet. She is very attentive to tenants needs and takes the time to understand, asses and take care of the situation. I would absolutely recommend her and thank you so much for all you do!! horrible. maintenance is a joke. turnaround time a joke. apt was ill cleaned when i moved in. neighbors are high strung miserable complainers. or there loud talking smoking all the time partiers. the late night drunks at the jacuzzi are horrific. theres no middle ground im miserable here. community was misrepresented when i rented stuck in a ridiculous lease i do not recommend renting here deceiving cuz units are in fact nice and new. but shit dint work. everything is jimmyrigged not good. read more

I'm sorry to have to update my initial review, but this place has definitely taken a turn for the worse in the past 6 months. When I first moved to Baywind I absolutely loved everything about it: the location is great, you get cool breezes year round, the units are nice (mine was not even updated and I still liked it a lot), and the management was friendly and responsive. However, after the former manager, David, got promoted and moved on to greener pastures, the "honeymoon" at Baywind seems to have ended. While David had been friendly and relatively responsive to inquiries and concerns, the new apartment manager, Alia, is snarky and impossible to get a hold of. You used to be able to text David or call him if you had an issue and he would get right on it. He would even text you at night if he noticed your garage door was open as a courtesy. The new manager, by contrast, neither responds to texts nor answers her phone. Ever. Even during the supposed "office hours" she holds in the afternoons -- she's never in the office, and will not answer the phone when you call (or even respond to a voice mail) unless there is some sort of divine intervention. I still think the apartment complex is nice for the location in Costa Mesa -- near the freeway, situated on a nice suburban street -- but it's no longer a 5-star place in my book. And frankly, for the price they're charging these days, you could probably do a lot better. read more

This place has gone downhill. Original manager Alisha was attentive and nice. New manager is a witch that can not communicate and is charging a $100 cleaning fee for move out from a spotless place. Renter beware!!!!! Just ask the tenants. They will tell you the same. read more

Update: new manager that came in spring 2017 is very unhelpful, rude, and neglectful. The golden days of this place, like when you could text the old manager David about a problem and he would quickly reply, are over. With the new manager there is the cold, heartless service you would get from most large property management places. She will refer you to the website in an unfriendly manner and also not quickly reply to your needs. I moved after two years due to the awful new management. read more

I have to say...the new property manager, Alia, is EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable. I called and inquired about a 1 bedroom apartment and she, regardless of the price, made me want to move in solely based on how friendly and informative she was when we spoke. I visited the premises and it is super clean (units looked freshly painted), quiet and very inviting. The neighbors were all very friendly and welcoming. Alia also mentioned that she started a contest, which takes place on the 1st of every month, for tenants that pay their rent through the website or mobile app -- such a creative way to keep your tenants happy and it really shows how involved she is! I have lived here for almost a year now. This is by far the best apartment I've had. The whole experience has been so pleasant. I don't have anything to complain about. Any time I have a maintenance issue, which is rare, it is taken care of so quickly and I never have to ask twice. The grounds are always looking great and any issues with the common areas are addressed quickly as well. The staff if super friendly, I especially love working with Dave. He is always so easy to come to with my issues, he even follows up to see if things were taken care of to my liking. My move in process was a breeze too. I will definitely be renewing my lease. read more

It's unfortunate I had to leave a one star review. I would leave a zero. These people are inhuman and are horrible people to live for. They call it "luxury living". It is anything but that. Ignored maintance calls, managers getting mad at you when you request a fix. Half this community thinks management is awful. They are lucky they don't have a lawsuit. ( if they don't, they probably will at some point) They refuse to install fire alarms .. they refuse to take accountability for their actions, or lack there of. Theywill kick you and your family out for no reason. We payed rent on time every month: they wanted to raise our rent. I told them we couldn't afford that. No phone call, no email, ... a notice on my door , telling me my son and I needed to be out in 60 days. No reason. This Happened to two of us just this last month. Me, a single working mother, and a longtime tenant who had just hurt her knees and needed surgery. I Have never received one complaint, pay my rent on time, and Management, Valerie kicks me and my son out because I questioned the rent increase that I was told wouldn't happen when I originally signed the lease. It's unfortunate Remm Group runs their business this way and allows woman like Valerie to treat tenants the way she does. The community is great yet they all have a problem with management. As we all talk, we tried to talk to Diana, Valeries boss, and would get ignored. What we would get would be a call from Valerie saying she heard we had a problem. This is after specifically asking to only speak to someone other than her. It's not ok. Dirty jacuzzi, barking dogs non stop, dogs who poop and pee in pool area, very passive emails to all tenants. Lots of lies and dishonesty. I'm not one to write bad reviews, ever but if I can stop anyone from living here , I'll be happy I did. Don't do it. Keep looking. You will find a place you can actually find home. I'm very lucky I did elsewhere on such short notice. read more

I have lived in this lovely, small apartment complex for a little over 15 months. I renewed my lease because of the many qualities that make this home for me. The property is well kept. It is quiet and safe. There is a lovely pool and newly refurbished hot tub. The community is neighborly. Management responds quickly to any issues that arise. Baywind is located in a nice, eclectic neighborhood close to local shops and highway entrance. read more

I wrote a few reveiw a few months ago, and I just wanted to keep current. We have lived here 18 months now, and recently had our first issue that needed attention. Nothing at all wrong with the apartment or complex, but our garage door motor was acting up a bit. The apartment manager, David, got right on it and took care of the problem as promptly as he could. So far, so good here. And like everyone said, you absolutely cannot beat the location, cleanliness, safety and value. read more

In 2009- due to the mortgage meltdown- I had a thriving mortgage company and 3 homes- I had to downsize and restructure my finances... years later we since then recuperated. We were used to living in a large house ...and one day..searching online I saw this great apartment - the picture from Baywind Apartments is what attracted me...I said wow...all these beautiful amenities without having the cost of a large home.!!! I talked to Dave, the apartment manager and instantly I fell in love with the place, location, small community vibe (only 30 units). Dave, is a nice friendly manager, plus any problems or questions- he's right on it.! I have lived here for almost 3 years now. I have never renewed a lease since I started renting almost 10 years ago. Baywind is an amazing community to be a part of. The tenants are amazing and close nit and the complex is very clean. For the first 2 years the property manager was sub par and did the minimum but I loved living here so I ignored it. Last year, we obtained a new property manager, Stephanie, Stephanie is a worker bee. She is so easy to get ahold of and she never makes you feel like you are bothering her. She goes above and beyond. During the winter time, a tenants heater broke, so while they were waiting to have it fixed, I saw Stephanie on a Saturday Morning carrying a portable heater to the unit; she did not have to do that, she does things like this all the time. I am the type of person to do those types of things, so when I see others do that it makes me feel as though I need to let them know that I notice. Stephanie your kindness and thoughtfulness does not go unnoticed. You have really made the vibe here at Baywind even better and I appreciate all your hard work and all of the hours you put in to make sure we are comfortable here. read more

We rent a downstairs apartment and the noise from upstairs is awful. Every footstep sounds like thunder because they pulled the carpet out of the upstairs units. Most condos require carpet in upstairs units for a reason. Also, there are three gates and two of them were replaced by gates that don't slam. The gate right outside our door was not replaced and is constantly being slammed. Our garage is constantly being blocked so I can't park. The one bedrooms are over priced, but I guess everything in east side Costa Mesa is...When we moved in, this was a pet free community, which we liked. Shortly after moving in they changed it to a pet friendly community. The on-site laundry facility is expensive. read more

This was a great place to live, and fairly quiet. Downstairs neighbor slammed his door so hard that I lost a picture off the wall and two glass frames off of a cabinet. They said smoke free but the smoke from downstairs just came right up into my apartment..Very roomy and the upstairs had vaulted high ceilings. When David and Alia were here this place was awesome! Then came Valerie...condescending, blamed repairs not being fixed on previous management or said "that was pre-Valerie", never reply's back to you or your issues and always has an excuse as to why she didn't get back to me. "I'm on vacation, I'm at another property, I didn't get your call, I have a personal life too" it goes on and on. Or she just didn't respond at all, until I called the emergency line...Did my pre-walk through and said it just needed to be cleaned, so I spent hours cleaning ask her to come by and check it again and she said "we don't do that" then charged me for cleaning. A petition even went around to get rid of her, but she told me that everyone loves her here. NOPE!!! Michael (maintenance) was great and very knowledgeable, just took them a long time to let him know about issues. read more
