It's a slice of Americana, that old fashioned hardware store you remember from your childhood. Coffee brewing as you walk in, staff of knowledgeable and friendly folks with smiles to greet you and ask if you need any help. It brings me back every time I set foot in there and as a town employee... I'm in there a lot. A fantastic selection of hardware, fasteners, tools, houseware, garden supplies, power equipment and Benjamin Moore... "the only paint this planet will ever need". The only thing missing is a creaky old oak floor and maybe, for this time of year, a pot belly wood stove with 2 or 3 coveted chairs around it. Went there twice... not too much help from anyone.... Poorly stocked as well. Walked out after 20 mins of looking for smth they did not have ( but found it right away at Home Depot) staff had fun chatting by the register and payed no attention to customers. NOT going back! read more

I was in the market to replace my gas grill. I did my research and had decided to purchase a Weber Gas Grill. I settled on a Genesis II S-435. After looking around at several stores, (5) I found exactly what I wanted close to home at Wills Hardware in Medfield. The grill was assembled and ready to go - I thought. I didn't have an opportunity to start/use the grill until this past Sunday. Well the grill wouldn't start. I did all the basics I could think of including ensuring that yes there was gas in the tank. Used soapy water to check for leaks and more. Anyhow didn't get it going on Sunday. Monday I returned to Wills Hardware and spoke with folks there...their answer was for me to call Weber. So I did three days later I have not received a call back from Weber. I would think long and hard before I purchased anything from Wills again that was expensive. I found their support lacking....let's not even go there about Weber. The story has a happy ending the grill is working and I love it. No thanks to the retailer and vendor that sold me the gill. read more

Called Will's Hardware for parts for a Power Wheels toy jeep I ordered from Walmart. These guys are a service Center for Mattel. Ken, went out of his way to not only order parts for me, but to process the warranty claim for me as well. Who does that anymore? Talk about service! I picked up the part on Saturday and finished the assembly for my 3 year old niece! These guys were just awesome and went out of the box to help me even though the two was purchased elsewhere! How in the world is this place still in business? In more and more of the reviews I write for places in Medfield, it always seems to be feasible to add that Medfield really doesn't have anything.... it lacks lots of places to go in general, whether you're looking for entertainment or shopping centers. However, one thing it does have is TRAFFIC. I was coming the back way down Route 27 one day and it was very busy. Since I was heading to Milford next on my list of errands on that day, the person I was with suggested I take a right at West Street, as it is a shortcut, and not have to wait in the traffic. The shortcut worked great, but more importantly, I noticed this hardware store sitting in the middle of nowhere along West St. It was somewhat ironic. These types of stores barely even exist anymore (I can't even remember when the last neighborhood hardware store was open...). Anyway, it's a great place to get hardware in Medfield. I came back to the store on a day I was specifically doing things in Medfield to check it out, for more summer gear (time for more mulch..... ugh!). To be honest, comparing to any of the other hardware stores that are even CLOSE to this (like the ok TrueValue that just opened in Norwood Center.....), none can compare to the prices. Being in a town as Medfield and the convenient location and all, you wouldn't expect this, however the prices on basically everything here are very reasonable, with a few exceptions. They have a HUGE selection for a small, independent store, and have everything from seasonal outdoor stuff to storage containers, to Benjamin Moore Paints, to lightbulbs, to electrical supplies, to cleaning products, everything in between and more. I am completely impressed with the variety, stockage and cleanliness of this store. I will be coming back and making a large purchase soon! 5 stars. read more

I went to Wills to look into finding a stain in a certain color. I was informed that if I brought in a sample he could create a match. I tried Ace Hardware in Millis to find the product and that was a no go. I called Home Depot in Norwood only to discover they are discontinuing the Cabot line and only had 5 gallon buckets remaining. The color I wanted was a customer color. As much as I didn't want to scrape off a wood chip with the color, it was my last resort and I brought it up to Wills. I was skeptical, but it looked fine when he showed me the color of the sample versus what he made up. After it dried a little, I didn't see any difference. Perfect match! read more

This shop is helpful, very, very well-stocked and reasonably priced. Sprinklers were on sale for $3.99! Desk lamps sale $2.99, etc. we also were able to fill out grill propane tank reasonably. So glad they are a 5 min drive from our new place. read more
