I just returned from another positive experience with Ace Hardware in Quincy, MA. This time, I placed my order online through the Ace app 2-minutes before their opening time. Five minutes after they opened (7 am), I received an e-mail message that my order was ready. When I arrived, I was greeted (as is always the practice here) and pointed to the cash registers to pick up my order. A printed copy of my order was in the brown paper bag with my 2 items. Plenty of parking early in the day, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. read more

Hours posted are not honored at this store. I arrived at 6:55 to buy one item knowing the store closed at 7, and the doors were already locked and no employees were available to let me in. Perhaps business hours should be updated to reflect actual closing time. read more

On 3/16/25 I asked the Walpole Rocky's cashier to ring me up 2 bags of pelletiized lime(Item 75540). Now I know I'm always going to pay a little more at Rockys than a big box store but the total came to $27.98 for 2 bags of lime($13.99 per bag). I questioned the young man behind the register if that was correct and he simply said yes. I was in another store the following day and just happened to notice the Pelletized lime was $6.00. per bag. Hey Rocky's management, What gives here? I'm never a disgruntled customer but I am now. Please explain. read more

An employee from the boomer generation refused to carry recycling bins and told me to order one online. Funny how they refuse to carry an essential item that the store has room for. It was boys club mentality. I must have threatened their masculinity by requesting they carry an environmental necessity. Like sis, you have flowers outside. Water them. I wanted to buy a Stihl chainsaw and called Rocky's. Kurt picked up the phone and provided me with the saws they had in stock and had it ready for me when I picked it up. Kurt was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Kurt also cautioned me on some frequent mistakes people would make using the saw and made great recommendations for accessories. I found my first visit to Rocky's ACE Hardware on Main Street, Walpole, my local hardware store much like my non-local, big-chain store--It was an impersonal, unfriendly and unhelpful experience! I guess friendliness does not necessarily come with being small and local. I will try again in the near future and hopefully get surprised. read more

This is the best hardware store in the area. Recently, True Value opened up down the street in Norwood, yet I'll still come here instead. At the new True Value, there are many employees around and it's somewhat awkward if you just want to look around. Here, an employee will ask you, and then they'll leave you alone. The Walpole location is large and also carries Benjamin Moore (unlike the Canton Rocky's). Prices are reasonable at this Rocky's, and the variety of all products is wide. My favorite sections are the storage containers and Command products. They always have a great seasonal section and great clearance tables too! Parking lot right out front, and a garden center to the left of the building in the spring. Great hardware store in the Walpole area. Located on Route 1A, in the 1A Marketplace. 5 stars. read more

I always prefer to go to the small local stores so went here to have a key made. I had had a blank that the UPS store told me Ace hardware would key for me. The Manager at Ace told me "their corporate policy" prohibits using another key. Well, the local store is where we go for friendly help, for "corporate policy" I would go to Lowe's or Home Depot. He made me one of their keys which didn't come close to fitting. So after a big waste of time returning the key. I took my blank to Cataldo's in Wrentham and they helped me immediately. Ace Hardware - decide who you are going to be, a local helpful store, or a corporation. Your prices are too high to be a corp. but you do have the uncaring attitude. read more

My husband and I frequent Rocky's Ace Hardware and I think the customer service is excellent! Folks have always been willing to help me with finding things, carrying items for me and overall are very pleasant. We prefer shopping local stores and this particular store fits that bill. I used to be a loyal customer until one young cashier ruined my experience. My birthday coupon was only two days expired, and I was expecting that Rocky's would be kind enough to extend a special courtesy for a frequent buyer like me. The cashier offered to scan the coupon at first, seeing if it will go through. It did, but thanks to his petty qualms, he canceled my coupon discount from the transaction receipt. How annoying! I asked to speak w/ the manager and his default answer was NO. I will now be taking my business to more reputable competition, like Loews and Home Depot. read more

What a turnaround!!!! Dylan the new manager has really turned this store around. When the bald guy at the paint counter was working, I'd steer clear of the store altogether because he was so rude. This is the best neighborhood hardware store ever -- knowledgeable and friendly five star service. If they don't have what you need, they can tell you where to get it. The store is nowhere as large as a Home Depot or Lowes, but that is its advantage. You can find things more quickly and easily, and sales people are so much more accessible. Everyone is very helpful here. Our purchases have ranged from inexpensive items of a few dollars to an expensive grill with all the accessories, and in every case, the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. This is my first stop for home improvement. read more
