My wife and I went there last week while visiting Stroudsburg. This place is dated and dingy. The waitress was not very personable. They had three choices of draft beer. My wife had some kind of Italian vegetable soup along with an order of wantons which was not notable. I ordered the Sole fish. The sauce was overwhelming so there was no tasting the fish. As a side they served an ear of corn. Who serves an ear of corn with a $24.00 dinner? There was a pretty view of the creek but the Willowtree looked half dead. I would avoid this restaurant. read more

Atmosphere outside on the deck is lovely. We had a table overlooking the creek and it was a gorgeous day. I ordered fettuccine bolognese, which came with a side salad. The house made balsamic was absolutely delicious. The fettuccine, well let's just say had I closed my eyes I would have had no idea what I was eating. It was that tasteless. Rather a disappointment. read more

Overall disappointing experience. Stale bread, poor service, incorrectly made cocktail, mediocre entree, tired decor, accompaniment served in a plastic cup...this place is far from fine dining and more of a blue plate special. On a positive note the fresh brewed iced tea was delicious! read more

This place is a pretty nice place to visit. The food is nice. I had the beef stroganoff the last (only) 2 times. My wife had the salad both time. I had the meatball appetizer both times an was good. We usually walk in with no reservations and haven't had any problems. We USE Groupon coupons because we are not rich, but is still usually a $50.00 bill. We don't drink, so that keeps the bill down. We will be visiting the place this afternoon and hope to have a good experience again. read more

I went for lunch with some friends and the food was good, I had the chicken Waldorf salad and one of my friends had the crab cake salad. She said it was the best crab she's ever had! We sat inside right by this big beautiful window overlooking their patio area right on the creek, it was very scenic. Quiet and homey atmosphere. read more

We were hosting a small family birthday dinner at Willowtree last night. I wish I could say I was completely satisfied but I left being very disappointed- not in the food, that is delicious- but rather in the employees attitude which put a damper on the whole evening. The blonde woman who may be the manager (?) comes off as very demeaning and rude. When asking to sit outside when there was a small chance of rain, she talked down to us and made me feel stupid for wanting to do so. As someone who had worked in another local restaurant for years, you do whatever it is to make the customer feel valued and accommodated. I should have walked out then looking back. To top it off, my salad came with a dead ant in it and the same blonde women seemed very irritated that I would have the nerve to politely point it out. No apology, no accommodation when it came to the bill, no explanation.... just a new salad dropped in front of me. I even had to ask for a new napkin so I could use a different one then the one with the bug on it. The food here is great and this could be a great local spot to eat, however, I would feel embarrassed to recommend any one go to this restaurant and subject themselves to the extremely rude service and attitude of the blonde employee. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Bad service, and to expensive for quality of food. I have been here many times with my family since I was younger and the food is not good! However, the deck is really pretty and is one of the only places in the area were you can eat by the water. read more

This is a great restaurant with excellent food, excellent service and a really nice outdoor patio to eat on overlooking a stream and willow trees. read more

This place looks really fancy and has a very nice selection of food but the service was definitely sub par during my one time visit. The waitress was overwhelmed and not friendly. The owner or owner's wife was wearing jeans, an old shirt, and crocks! Not ok for a fancy restaurant, I don't care if you own it. I was served hot bruchetta(gross) and tea with no sugar or lemon. Also, in their extensive dessert menu, they did not have one single non-dairy item. read more

We've had some really good meals here and a few that were just ok. The service has been hit or miss. We were there recently and were seated upstairs because there was a wedding shower. Our waitress brought us our food and I asked for mustard. After about 5 or 10 minutes, I went downstairs to find her. She was cleaning off some tables. I asked about the mustard and she said she'd be right up. For some reason she wouldn't just hand it to me. I almost sent my burger back because by the time I got the mustard it was barely luke warm. I didn't just because I didn't want the other 3 people I was with to have to wait. read more

My husband and I dined here on a sunny Saturday afternoon in the summer. We sat on the upper deck overlooking the giant willow tree as the beautiful creek meandered by, sipping tasty Bloody Mary's. While listening to Bonnie Rait and Carole King beneath the shade of our umbrella table, we enjoyed two scrumptious appetizers. I had the escargot in a vinaigrette cream sauce with garlic - excellent. My husband had the lump crab cakes in remoulade sauce - the best!. For our lunch entrées, I had the sole almandine over white rice and my husband had the Aristocrat, a medium rare filet mignon sandwich with Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms, coupled with nicely seasoned Yukon Gold potatoes. - far beyond a regular burger! Laura was our very attentive waitress, who provided impeccable service. Hard to believe this restaurant is right in downtown Stroudsburg - truly a hidden gem! We'll be back! read more

The waitress was very nice but the food was horrible! Very disappointed!! The dinner salad barely had anything to it. Maybe like 10 pieces of lettuce on the plate and that was all. My boyfriend ordered a steak. He wanted it medium and it was practically still alive. I ordered crab cakes and it wasn't too bad but the rice tasted over done and right from a box. The place could definitely use some up to date decor. Very old and had a musty smell to it. Such a gorgeous place with potential. read more

Worst burger ever. Meat was burned, tasteless, bread was wet! Would never come back.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. Been here about 4 times. Yes service is on average a little slower than a diner, but it's a restaurant not Burger King. I"ve had crab cake dinner, steak sandwich, bruchetta, squid pasta, soup. The Italian sodas are good, so is the crostada dessert. While yes, the side salad is small, the house dressing is delicious (i bought some separately in a bottle). read more

I don't know why this doesn't have at least four stars, this rating is very misleading. This place is great, the food is wonderful, the outdoor deck is great. I've been here multiple times and it has always been a great experience. The groupon deal is great, you can find it often. Lunch Salads are delicious. Sit outside if you can by the creek! read more

Their policies are as outdated as their menu and beer list. They would not allow us to use a gift certificate along with a coupon. Everywhere else treats gift certificates as same as cash. Slightly below mediocre food and decent service. read more

I just hosted a 70th birthday party in the back room. The room was very spacious and accommodating to guests. We also enjoy access to the balcony. The food was excellent and all guests were happy (we opted for the buffet which was a great deal!) Even though we only had 2 servers for our large party, they were super attentive and helpful during the entire event. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for both regular dining, but also smaller events (showers, birthdays, etc). Thanks for a stressfree event. read more

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here for 40, last week. There are not enough nice things to say. The food was fantastic from end to end. Catering a large party can be a tricky thing but the chicken and beef were as tender as could be. The dessert was wonderful. The apple tart with ice cream was just the right finish. The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere was as warm as the staff. We were so happy. We will be back! read more

Wonderful view, food and service! The vegetable pot stickers and shrimp cocktail were fabulous appetizers! The Fillet mignon and prime rib dinners were very good. I look forward to returning and enjoying the outdoor space during the summer months! read more

I recently hosted a bridal shower for my future Daughter in Law at the WIllowtree Restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful. We were fortunate to have it out on the lower deck. When we arrived to do the decorations, the tables were all set, and we were able to put our finishing touches on. The food was delicious. The young man who was our server was attentive without being intrusive. The prices were very reasonable. The entire experience from the booking to the event to the end went without a hitch. I would highly recommend them. read more

We ate at the Willowtree Saturday 9-26-15, after having been there once before, about a year ago, and having a wonderful experience then. Party of 7, we were the largest group in the place. Sadly, 5 of the 7 of us had some type of unpleasant experience this time around. Starting with beverages, the bartender should have warned my 8-year-old that the "Arnold Palmer" was made with an oddly-flavored tea and barely sweetened lemonade. Of course he was expecting a standard AP but was disappointed, so I ordered him a hot chocolate, which was watered down and flavorless. The appetizer some of us shared at the table, the bruschetta, was good. The soup, a miroquois soup, was just ok. The salad with the house dressing was good, but over-dressed...we're used to dressing on the side and assumed that's how it would come. The entrees were hit and miss. The chicken fettucini alfredo was nice...lighter than most...but it was ordered minus the chicken and was still charged at the full price. The rice & beans were just that...a scoop of plain white rice next to a scoop of unseasoned black beans with two unsightly grey blobs of "roasted" garlic that looked like slugs. No spice, nothing my 13-year-old vegetarian daughter couldn't have dumped from a can. The three fish dishes that were ordered at the table were tasty and well-presented. The lasagna was delicious but came with the same side dishes as everything else...an ice-cream scoop of mashed potatoes and a mushy baked tomato with a sprinkling of panko. Finally, the kid's menu chicken fingers were good...freshly breaded and fried, served with a generous serving of yummy fries. The desserts we ordered were good. The ambiance was nice, except that they didn't appear to have a tablecloth that fit our large table. The view from the outside deck is beautiful. My son put his hand under the table and found dried chewing gum. The service started out ok, but then it started to get busy and there was only one waitress. Kat was very nice...but we had to repeat everything we said 3 times if she was wasn't looking directly at us for her to hear or acknowledge us. So, though I would have recommended the Willowtree Inn a year ago, I can't anymore. It's too bad, it's such a beautiful location. read more

The Willowtree Inn is gracious enough to host our monthly lunch meeting of the Monroe County Family Law Section. Service is excellent, as is the food. There is an area on the second floor that is able to accommodate up to 20 or so people that is a good fit for us. Thank you to the Willowtree for hosting us. read more

I have enjoyed many meals and functions at this fine restaurant and they have on their menu one of my favorite meals of all time ... The service is almost always excellent and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal there. I am surprised about some of the reviews that are on YELP ... In consulting with many of my friends and work associates all of whom have dined there at one point, none had a bad word to say about the Willow Tree. All i can assume is that the bad reviews are outliers or reflective of one not-so-positive experience. We will continue to enjoy the Willow Tree... keep up the good work! read more

My wife and I had Thanksgiving dinner here yesterday. The food was excellent and a great value. Outside the large window was a beautiful old willow tree that thankfully survived Sandy! We highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. read more

I visited the willow tree in several times over the last 20 years. It's a place like frequently forget about but I'm happy to go to when I remember. I enjoy their menu and the beautiful willow tree and scenery outside. There is a trivia night under the stars that I also appreciate. read more

I had always liked this place through the years, had come here when I wanted nicer dining in the area, heck, we even hosted my grandmothers wake here, but recently I brought my mother here because she wanted to come sit outside under the willow tree for her birthday. I travelled in specifically to do so from NYC and I was met with the strangest service I have had in a restaurant, maybe ever. We showed up as a group, my mother, my two brothers, my one brothers girlfriend and I, all of us of drinking age but my brother girlfriend, by only a few month. After a very awkward situation of not being seated for over fifteen minutes in a near empty restaurant with no explanation we finally got a table and then proceeded to have someone come to take our drink order, in which, before most of us could even look at a beer menu we, without even having had IDs checked, were told that because a person at our table was not of drinking age none of us could be served ... with the exception of my mother. After much confusing and stone-faced back and forth we decided it only made sense to leave. I called back later asking for an explanation and to review the cited law, additionally finding that despite having servers that night our server, for whatever reason, was not the server but a higher level manager and she referenced something called the "pizza hut law" ... looking this up after the fact I found that not only was my mother in the position to act as the "person offering supervision", but the fact that she was willing to serve my mother alcohol while denying the rest of us was, interpretations considered, an essentially illegal exception to the rule she decided to try and enforce, for whatever reason, against the rest of us. When pressed about this she could only claim it was a "personal judgement call" without offering any grounds for how that was made, which couldn't help but make us all feel that that exemption was essentially superficially based rather than based on anything factual. We were a five top on a near dead night that, for no explainable reason why, were made to wait 15 minutes to be seated before essentially being force-fed weird notions on how to break and not break a law to suit whatever she felt at that moment through very unpleasant exchange that, in turn, caused our departure. Calling later only further justified how unconcerned they were with preserving us and those we know as customers being as self-justification seemed the only thing she was willing to offer. If I'd had known in four and a half years that this would be the treatment we would have received, my grandmother would likely roll over in her grave thinking we chose The Willow Tree Inn to spit our money into for her wake. Thanks a lot, happy birthday to my mom, and sorry we wasted each other's time. We and many we know will not infringe upon the expectation of your business in the future and we wish you the best. read more

I came here with my wife and kids by chance recently (Aug 2012), looking for a place to eat that wasn't fast food, and not too pricey. We are from Queens, NYC... The menu looked decent, not cheap, but not too expensive, so in we went. We were immediately very surprised and impressed with the beautiful setting, the big windows overlooking a weeping willow, and when we walked further in, we saw the outdoor seating with multiple levels overlooking water. My wife had the crab-cakes and I had jumbo shrimp with pasta. We ordered a pasta dish off the children's menu for the kids... My wife really liked the crab cakes and I thought the shrimp dish was very tasty, though the sauce was a bit heavy. I'd have preferred a lighter sauce, but nonetheless it was good. When we told the waitress we would consider desert, she brought out a selection tray, but nothing looked very appetizing, which surprised us, since usually desert trays are usually made to look really delicious. This one looked more like it had been sitting around for a while, so we passed on desert. The kids meal came with a desert included, which was a brownie with ice cream, and it was actually well presented and very tasty - we each stole a bite from the kids and so it was gone in a flash. Overall the setting was great and the food was good. The service was fine, nothing extraordinary, but not bad. I'd give the setting 5 stars. Although the food was quite good, I'd agree it is not quite at the level of the setting. I would definitely recommend this place as well worth a visit, and my wife and I agreed it would be a good choice for an anniversary dinner if we are in the Poconos over our anniversary in the future. read more

Willow Tree Inn has quickly become one of my wife's and my favorite restaurants in the Poconos. We do try to eat there at least once a month. The reason we love this restaurant so much is that we have never, ever been disappointed. The quality of the food, not to mention the taste and presentation, is more like a Manhattan based restaurant but with more affordable pricing. The wait staff is friendly and gracious and always treat their customers with respect. The alcohol beverages are wonderful as well. Overall, this is a fabulous restaurant with a creative flare and most enjoyable atmosphere. My wife and I plan to continue frequenting this restaurant forever. Thanks Willow Tree. read more

We decided to try this place for my friends birthday. It was a TERRIBLE experience! The food was cold and disgusting. The service was just as bad. Nobody even tried telling us about the specials and we had to ask for our drinks twice after waiting 30 minutes for our first drink. I can think of much better places to spend $140 at! read more

Classic take on food. Crab Cakes are my preference. Husband liked his pork with roasted potatoes. Salads came with meal, were average. When I've had their lunch salads they have always been superb. What's nice is the atmosphere, it's quiet. Enough to hear the conversation at your table. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Was pretty disappointed, they came up a gluten free restaurant in our Yelp search. When we got there they said they didn't have a GF menu. Not the most kid friendly place when we looked at the menu. We ended up leaving before we even placed an order. read more

I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the lack of service when we arrived. I had a reservation but when we got there no one was in the front to greet or sit people. There were a few other couples waiting around as well without being acknowledged for a good 20 minutes. But when we were noticed the women did sit us right away. The food was excellent and the server was nice. Dessert was very good as well. The atmosphere was warm and cozy with string lights put up. Just a heads up that the parking can be hard to find if you're coming at night. It's a dirt parking lot to the left of the restaurant. read more

It's difficult to find a good fine dining restaurant in the Poconos. My family and I ate here on Christmas Eve because we heard the food and atmosphere are good. While it is nice to dine by the creek, the food is sub-par and not at all worth the price. Between the four of us, we had the veal parmesan, chicken picatta, chicken caesar salad, and duck cherry jubilee. The sauce on the veal was unremarkable, as was the salad. The duck was not crispy as duck should be, and it had a rubbery texture as if microwaved. The picatta was fine, but it's difficult to mess that one up. Plain jasmine rice and unseasoned green beans added nothing to a basically tasteless meal. Only if doubled in size would our dishes be worth their price, and certainly nothing on the menu (except maybe the beef) should have been more than $15. If you are going to charge $20 for a dish, it should be interesting or prepared with technique. I have no problem paying $25-30 for an excellent entree. None of ours were more than fine, which you can get anywhere (even at some diners). To add insult to injury, the three desserts ($4-7 each) that came with ice cream had only a mellon-ball-size scoop on top. One tiny scoop of ice cream is unacceptable on a brownie sundae or apple crisp. Finally, they would not accept the coupon I printed from their website, even though they were not running a special or offering some other discount. It would have been nice to save $8 on a $124 check. The Willowtree Inn would make a great episode of Kitchen Nightmares. read more

We decided to give it a whirl after hearing not so great reviews but the paper did a big piece on the 30th anniversary so off we went. Arrived early (4:30) waited some time to be seated in a restaurant with two occupied tables. Greeted by miserable man/ bartender who refused to sit us outside because he had "a migraine". Meanwhile, it was a gorgeous day. Kinda perplexed, we were sat at a lovely table by the window. Ordered appetizers, small portions even for an appetizer. Not good at all. Stuffed mushrooms were drowning in butter. Disgusting! Entrees arrived, duck (should've been an appetizer) steak and lobster tail horrible and children's french bread pizza served on scolding hot dish and so soggy it flopped around. Food had no flavor, mashed potatoes were obviously instant flakes . Waitress cursed 3 times in front of my 4 year old. Unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and just skip over this place. They need to hire a chef, revamp the menu and, along with the gorgeous backdrop which is the only reason I'm giving one star ) this place has amazing potential. Until then, don't spend a dime for this inedible overpriced faux haute cuisine. I really wanted this to be a find. read more

Went in with a large party. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. A party of 11 and we literally order 5 drink's. It took a good 20 minutes before we got them. 1 mixed drink 4 soda's. We ordered our food and our salad's finally came about 20 minutes later. When our dinner's came and we started eating it was a disaster. We mostly ordered prime rib. There was absolutely no taste to the meat. The gravy they put on it was sweet. We did complain but that only amounted to our soda's being on the house. Honestly will never be back. I would not suggest this place to anyone EVER. The manager seriously need's to fix her wardrobe. I felt bad for the waitress because she was the only server there but, then towards the end of our visit she got cocky. One thing you never do when you're a server is get cocky with the people who are leaving you a tip. Ridiculous that it took over 2 hour's for dinner. Owner's could have honestly cared less. No wonder the place was empty. read more
