Good location overlooking the river with large deck. Noise from I80 a nuisance. Excellent food and good cocktails. Old style luxury in large house that looks nothing special from the road. Good free parking nearby

The reason we were in town, and were eating at the Willow Tree.

Four of us were in town for Dogs in a Pile Show. We met here before the show for dinner/drinks. We had dinner outside on a deck overlooking a creek. Pretty awesome. Service was excellent, service with a smile. We think it's a great choice when we are in town. Sort of the opposite of the some of the crowded party places.

The BEST mashed potatoes I've EVER had!!! The PROS: * Like I said, the mashed potatoes! Seasoned perfectly & lumpy. * Our server. What a doll!! So sweet and it didn't seem fake (& if it was, that just attests to how good she is.) * Cleanliness. For age of the place, it was VERY clean! * The view. Apart from being outside, we got the best seat in the house worth a beautiful view of the water & woods. The CONS: * It's DEFINITELY dated. From the outside, you know it's dated but as soon as you walk in, you're transformed to 1990s Poconos! Wood everything with mauve carpets. Plus, it just gives off a haunted vibe. * Although my mashed potatoes were fire, everything else seemed like it was frozen and quick thawed. The salmon was overdone. The prime rib was tasteless and tough. The haricot verts rubbery. AND they were out of the short ribs we had our eye on. Tell us that a soon as we sit down. * The drinks were weak. And I'm not really a drinker so it shoulda hit me but sadly, it didn't. * Parking is by meter and tough to find. While I understand that's not under their control per se, it still sucks to circle.

Some restaurants ooze the perfect combination of unassuming charm and fantastic views. Sometimes, this can make up for occasional shortcomings in the food. Stopping in Stroudsburg on our back home from a Sunday hike, we landed at the Willowtree Inn. This cozy spot on a side street overlooks willow trees and a creek, while high ceilings and dark wood add a rustic vibe, while a guitarist/singer softly strums folk tunes. The menu is French influenced American cuisine, with a seasonal drinks list. Famished from the hike, we each went with an entree (short ribs for her, prime rib for me) and a glass of autumn sangria. The sangria was nicely tart and not too sweet; the short rib was meltingly tender and topped with a fantastic brown sauce while the prime rib was tasty, if a little heavy on salt. We capped the meal with a slice of cassata: a pound cake topped with cannoli cream and dusted with espresso powder. All in all, a solid and enjoyable meal

Came in with a group of 12-13 people on a Saturday night at 7 pm. Not knowingly aware that the restaurant closes at 8 pm. As I am from the New York City area, I expected most restaurants to close at least 9pm. So rating service - 4.5 stars. Out waitress Christina was a true gem. She made sure we were all taken care as much as she could given the size the group and different needs. She warmed up a luke-warm hot cider when requested. She suggested drinks and exchange items in a timely manner. She was truly a gem Ambiance---nothing fancy. Very old world type of ambiance with wood panels, wood chairs. Very antique looking decor. Food- well...I had the following: Margarita- Did not like it at all. Returned it and tried the espresso martini, which was better, but not great Table bread- Tasty. One of the girls from my table had like 3..lol. She was hungry but the bread was good. House salad - basic but pretty good. Escargot - just ok. The sauce was good Shrimp Scampi with Linguini - Lacked taste. Salt and pepper was much needed. But it still didnt do the food much justice. Something was still not there. I doggy bagged the shrimp scampi ate it the next day. It was much greasier the next day

Prime rib ($32.99) covered in an overwhelming gravy sauce resembling the canned/jarred versions of gravy. Mocktail ($~4.75?)

Yelp hasn't developed .5 ratings yet but Willowtree leans on the lower half of this scale. We were in the area and decided to try something new and discovered Willowtree after some yelping nearby. We made a reservation and got there on time and was promptly seated. Be aware though - the parking is off to the left of the restaurant on Ann st, and it's a one-way coming up to the restaurant. It's on a quieter and more desolate street, but the decor indoors is very nice. The service and setting gets a solid 4 stars, but the food was a bit lackluster. We had a party of 5 and I ordered the beef short ribs and a few of us ordered the prime rib. For appetizers we had the "colossal crab leg cocktail" that wasn't too colossal at all at a price tag of $19.95. Food review: Appetizer: Colossal Crab Leg Cocktail - not worth $19.95 as it was a bit of crab meat on a small plate with some cocktail sauce and saltine crackers, and some strips of romaine lettuce. Main courses: Beef short rib - 6/10. The beef ribs lacked flavor in itself but it was also overwhelmed by the gravy that resembles texture and taste out of the Campbell's cans during the holidays. Prime rib - ordered medium rare - came out a little more rare. Also lacked flavor and was covered in the same gravy they dub as "au jus". Was super disappointed that a cut of meat was so wasted being drowned in this sauce. This was also a 6/10. The mocktail was tasty, being that it was a bunch of fruit juices and some sprite but it was enjoyable. Overall, the interior decor was really nice as was our server, but the food was lacking in many categories. Bread was hot and fresh as well, so that actually may have been the highlight of the meal.

The moon off the dining deck.

They have a very beautiful outdoor creekside deck to eat on. Saw a few deer pass while eating. Food was ok but the rolls are way too salty.

They have a great view, and service, and my meal was excellent. The prices are reasonable considering the other venues in the area.

First, the restaurant is so cute. It's like you're transported to a teahouse! The staff are really friendly, and they let you know immediately that everything is farm to table. The eggs were a deep yellow so I knew it was the truth. If you go, definitely order the biscuits and the mimosa flight. The biscuits comes with 4 different spreads (fig jam, peach butter, strawberry butter, and a brown sugar butter). The biscuits were a good size, and my favorite spread was the fig jam. I wish I could have put some in a jar. The mimosa flight flavors are so fun. I was not a fan of the soursop but the lychee and passionfruit are really good. For the main dish, we tried the chicken & waffle and the tres leches French toast. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and was crispy. The French toast was actually on a croissant. I can't wait to come back here!

Food is outstanding. This month the specials are from Mexico. I got tres Leche French toast made with croissant. So good - light and delicious with fresh berries and powdered sugar. Didn't need syrup. Hubby got the Chorizo beef hash. He gave me a bite and so much flavor. It was delicious. Crema black beans egg how you like it. Flavor bomb. It was tough to decide what to get. Mostly brunch food but lots of options. Serves alcohol as well. We went with Chai latte and he got pumpkin spice Chai latte. Excellent. We will be back to try, well, everything.

The food came out quickly, the burger was prepared medium rare perfectly, the toppings and sauce finished off the great taste and the Truffle Fries were hot and tasty. All in all we were very happy with our experience and plan on trying the Wednesday Latin Inspired Night in the near future. I would highly recommend you give Rare and Rye a try and decide for yourself. Just remember the Wagyu Burger Special is only available on Monday evenings. Don't wear flip flops. :) We started with their warm bread served with olive oil. The olive oil had sea salt sprinkled on top. It was a unique surprise. Bread warm and fresh. We ordered the Spanish meatballs and filet mignon to be cooked rare, with a side of the wild mushrooms. The Spanish meatballs are small, firm, and not super flavorful. We were not fans. We tried one together and sent it back. We ordered the calamari instead. Our waitress, Peyton, was incredibly kind and understanding. She made excellent recommendations. We appreciate her honesty. We love that she's also a cat mom! Excellent service. 10/10 The calamari was delicious and crunchy. Perfect flavor. Ask for black garlic sauce! It's amazing. Went perfect with the calamari too! Peyton's idea. :) The wild mushrooms were cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and a generous portion. These are one of the most delicious mushrooms we had in a while. Our filet mignon came with oven-roasted garlic. The garlic was delicious and cooked perfectly. The filet was also very delicious, very flavorful. We asked for rare and we got medium rare. Still pretty juicy but we like rare better. Steak was 9/10. If cooked rare, it definitely would be a 10/10. :) Peyton suggested the Chocolate Hazelnut Temptation for dessert as we were unsure. It was absolutely delicious. Creamy and crunchy with chocolate and hazelnut with the perfect amount of sweetness. Ordered an espresso with it and it's also good. So, so happy we stopped in and got to try some things. Highly recommend'
