We had a perfect birthday dinner for two tonight. Our server Noah was super attentive and professional. Our table near the fireplace gave us warm respite from the cold outside weather. We were promptly greeted with delicious warm bread, herby and tasting of Parmesan and with whole cloves of nutty roasted garlic tucked inside. We have come here multiple times, but never tried the sushi before tonight. I had The Godfather roll with poached lobster (!), pickled daikon radish, avocado, tuna, yellowtail, saffron aioli, tobiko, chives. Super luxurious! Husband had a spicy tuna roll which was on point. As it was his birthday - he didn't hold back from there. An order of blue point oysters for him as well as the mushroom soup en croute - positively loaded with morels, cremini and porcini. To be honest, they should really enforce a dress code, because the people I saw that came in looked like they just rolled out of bed or the pool. We were asked if we had food allergies, which we do, so the chef came out to personally discuss options that didn't include nuts. I thought that was a genuinely kind action. He literally took time out of his busy schedule to insure that we wouldn't be consuming anything that could potentially make us sick. Class act! I ordered the NY Strip, Mushrooms and Garlic mashed potatoes. Delicious! The steak was tender and cooked perfectly! The mushrooms and potatoes were wonderful. The restaurant was huge and right next to a resort that had an animal kingdom kind of vibe. The curb appeal could of used some signage and care, but we were able to find our way. When arriving we were greeted by the front desk host and asked if we wanted seating. We had originally found this restaurant at n an Instagram "48 hour in the Poconos" post. So we were looking forward to dining. We did make reservations; however, the restaurant was a bit empty as we went in the late March early April. When you first walk in, there is a pretty large bar which had patron sitting at it. There are several rooms in which you can have small guest parties. We were seated in a large dining room area towards the back. The lighting was very dim not my favorite, but the ambience was one of a high-end steakhouse. We were greeted by our server who was extremely nice and attentive. They also provided us with selections and specials for the evening. One of the menus for the drink list was ripped. We started off with a glass of wine and a amaretto sour. Then they brought out homemade bread that had garlic and other herbs in it. It was not my favorite, which is another reason why I gave it three stars. The garlic was a very overwhelming as a whole clove was found in the piece of bread that I bit into. We then ordered an appetizer and for our entrée we got lamb chops and duck. The duck was cooked well and the lamb chops were also cooked to perfection. Both the duck and the lamb chops lacked taste. However, their portion size were very large. At the steakhouse, all sides are à la carte. So be prepared to bring your funds to spend on items that you may want to have For the entire table. The server was very accommodating and was able to provide us with condiments that did not originally come on the menu. For that, we were very thankful and it flavored our meals. Yet, for the price in which we paid, I felt that the meat and broccoli should have been flavored appropriately. The portion sides of the à la carte side dishes were large enough for two people to eat and also have leftovers. The taste for the side dishes was way better than the meat selection. Their wine selection list was awesome and they give you whatever dessert you want as a slice if you're celebrating a birthday. If I were in the Poconos, I don't think I would revisit this steakhouse as they're probably others that provide much tastier food for a price that's not astronomical. Very big swanky place to eat at the water park. There weren't many tables filled at 6:30 on a Friday. We did make a reservation. Other reviews mentioned the long wait for food but we didn't wait longer than I would have expected to, drinks came out in 10 min food like 20-30 min. What actually annoyed me was the crayon scribbles on the adult menu. Clearly a kid got to a couple of menus and they should have replaced those pages. It takes you out of the fancy experience to have a dirty menu with crayon scribbles on it. The waitress brought out two bread loaves for us with chive butter. I asked for olive oil because the bread was a bit dry. Tasted better in olive oil to me than with the butter. We got hanging bacon. 4 strips for $19. It tasted like regular bacon, slightly sweeter. Calamari app was very salty. I liked the garlic sauce that came with it though. I got the marshmallow cocktail for $17. Sweet, creamy and delicious. I got two and it got me happy drunk. The marshmallows on it as garnish were cold even though they were torched. I got the Caesar salad for my entree with grilled chicken. $15 + $7 for chicken which Is probably the most affordable and biggest portion item you can get here. Lots of crispy Romain lettuce, anchovies and a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. The dressing on it was light and the chicken had a strong but delicious grilled flavor. I loved it! My husband had a burger, he got it well done and it was dry though he liked it. Also it was very salty. The burger did not come with fries and the waitress brought them over for us but then charged us $7 for them. It was my nephews birthday and he wanted the filet, he got the adult size and finished most of it and really liked it. It was very plain though to me. He put a lot of salt on it because of that. Other nephews got the lobster Mac and cheese, it was very big and he couldn't finish it all. I didn't see much lobster in there though. Other family members got rib eye and sea bass and they liked it a lot. The bourbon glazed mushroom side was big but tasted like earth, no bourbon or other flavor to them. Despite ordering three cocktails, an app, the tomahawk steak, multiple add-ons, and dessert for a party of 2 - we were never checked on for drink refills or additional service (bread refill). Additionally, multiple items were missing (extra side not brought out) or mis-ordered (ordered three sauces, two were duplicated and one was missing). It was a memorable meal because we rolled with the punches. And we don't necessary blame the server when so many other servers were so willing to help make things right. But having to get up to find our server multiple times is not acceptable with a $400+ tab and 18% mandatory gratuity. Safe to say, we only planned on going once. Given the restaurant's focus, one would expect the steaks to be consistently well-prepared. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Our party of eight (four adults and four children) ordered a range of steaks, all requested medium. While my New York strip and my son's filet mignon were cooked correctly, my wife's filet arrived well-done with no pink at all. One ribeye had only a hint of pink and was nearly well-done, while another was completely overcooked. We informed our server, who handled it professionally and had the overcooked steaks remade. The kids were told to begin eating, but the properly cooked meals sat getting cold while we waited. When the corrected meals arrived, the manager came by briefly to confirm the doneness, but that was the extent of the interaction. The bill came to $660.01 before tip. Despite the issues and delays, we were not offered any compensation--no complimentary drinks, sides, or desserts. We brought it up to the manager on our way out. Her response to the suggestion that some gesture would have been appropriate was, "I didn't know that's what you wanted." A simple acknowledgment of the inconvenience would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling disappointed by both the food execution and the lack of hospitality. The place looks nice, but the service and consistency don't live up to the price tag. We stopped by Double Cut for drinks on our Anniversary and were very pleased. The atmosphere is a nice balance between warm/cozy and modern, with a huge bar in the center of the restaurant. We sat at the bar and had great service and didn't feel rushed. They offer a nice selection of specialty cocktails, but the talented bar tenders can make just about any drink you like. They also have a good selection of bourbons. On this visit we tried the blackberry Manhattan and a Blantons! Both were delicious. The price for the drinks was not too expensive, but I would rather pay a little more for quality than the watered down drinks in other locations of the resort. He totally made our dining experience special. We knew this was going to be a pricey dinner... Entrees range from $35+ without sides. We ordered the kids menu of grilled cheese+ fries ($12) and battered shrimp + Mac and cheese ($18). The portions were very big, delicious too. Grilled cheese was with thick Texas toast filled with American cheese, fries were crispy and flavorful. The battered shrimps were ok,but the side Mac n cheese was a hit. I ordered the ahi tuna $35:(cooked rare) and hubby ordered the scallops ($42) and large side of mashed potatoes $12. Everything was delicious, but there were only 6 scallops in the order, so just beware. However, between all of our orders, we left with plenty of boxes for leftovers. We shared a key lime pie that was equivalent of 2 slices of what you would get anywhere else ($13). It was delicious!!! So they were all sent back to kitchen and we told them to cancel the orders. But manager talked us out of it I changed my order to well done mini chargrilled burgers rather than 12 oz New York Strip chargrilled well done. The new orders were taking too long, so the one who ordered filet mignon got up, told us he doesn't want any steak, and left. Shortly after he left, the food arrived. Chargrilled burgers were dry and did not have chargrilled flavor. The replacement of 12 oz New York Strip chargrilled med rare was really good! Friend was trying to figure out why original steak was dry, replacement was good. She concluded that original steaks must have been old. And they came out too fast. My friends and I booked a reservation to conclude our New Year's Eve trip to the poconos expecting a luxurious experience with great food. Granted, there are 6 adults in this party. The room we entered were filled with children under 5 years old. We asked to be moved to a different area with less noise and next to the fireplace. We're seated for about 15-20 minutes before our waiter comes over to take our order. We're all starving at this point and placed the entire order at once. That includes cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. The first item to come out 15 minutes later was our sparkling water. We've yet to receive their complimentary bread which tasted like cardboard with salt. Another 20 minutes go by and we receive our drinks. Now the smoked old fashion was introduced very nicely but the others weren't as appealing. Definitely stay away from their Charred Grapefruit Smash cocktail. The description of it sounded better than it looked and tasted. After mulling over our pitiful drinks for another 15 minutes our appetizers decided to join the party. The only appetizer worth ordering might be the tuna tartare but don't expect Michelin star grade tuna ok? Now finally a whopping 25 minutes go by and we get our beloved entrees. As you can imagine we are all beyond the point of starvation and annoyance after waiting nearly an hour for our meals and it was nothing less than disappointing. The steak were sub par and chewy for a medium temperature and the king crab legs were over cooked. The waiter was apologetic for his lack of assistance but that did nothing for us. Throughout the entire ordeal he was no where to be found and lacked an enormous amount of attentiveness. The most we saw him was when the check came and he tried to butter us up for a tip. I took my kids to the Poconos for their birthdays. There aren't a great deal of dinner options, but of course when I checked on Yelp dinner suggestions near Kalahari it recommended Double Cut. We arrived on time and greeted by two hostesses who were very polite and professional. The restaurant was not packed considering the water park was. We were seated at a distance from other families also celebrating birthdays. By the time our menus arrived we heard 3 birthday ballots. My daughter immediately commented on how nice the art was on the walls, the warm fireplaces and how beautiful the lighting was. My son was more focused on the kids menu because he wanted to finally get to eat a steak. I ordered the chili soup with mac and cheese, my daughter ordered 3 tacos and my son had the kids menu steak meal w/a side of mac and cheese. My daughter enjoyed her tacos but removed the relishes. My son and I agreed the mac and cheese was not as good as it looked. It was not cheesy and missed flavor. We both put it aside and made the yuck face of disappointment. The chili soup was okay, but I don't think I'll be trying anything new from there if we return. It wasn't spicy, but I've had way better - something was missing. The waiter we had was the best part of our night. He was funny and and extremely attentive. He moved quickly to get our orders in and gave us updates on when it would be ready. He was even nice enough to make a drink suggestion with my meal and it was a great choice. I pulled him aside when I went to the restroom to ask for a birthday desert with a birthday cheer for my daughter who was officially 14 years old. They did not disappoint. Overrated? Just rude. We went with our grandsons to dinner only to have one of the worst experiences. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated on time. That's when it goes wrong. We ordered two appetizers and our entrees. An hour later, our entrees arrived. What took so long? When we asked the server where the appetizers were, she asked if I wanted to cancel them. I advised her that was not the point. We had not seen her in the past hour and asked why she did not check in on us. I then asked to speak with a manager who apologized, and when I advised, we waited over an hour. He responded, "Let me know if there is something I can do," and walked away. I wanted to leave, but it was 8:30, and the boys were hungry; we stayed. I am not sure why the manager appeared annoyed with us. We have visited this place before, and the food is decent. The poor service and a lack of care ruined our night. Training is needed. Recognizing your error should not be worsened by showing frustration to your customer. read more
