I wish I could give Summit Lanes a higher rating. I like supporting local businesses when I can but it's really a three star kinda place. The alley itself is old and could use some work. It had rained recently and there were a few leaks going on in the lane next to ours. I don't know about all of the food but we had the pizza and it was inedible. I'm so happy I didn't read reviews before going to Summit Lanes last weekend. We went on a cold Saturday afternoon and while it was crowded, we did immediately get a lane. It wasn't cheap, but what is? The bowling alley itself was old and not in any way flashy. We didn't have any issues with the pins not resetting, our shoes weren't any grosser than any other bowling alley and the bowling balls were plentiful. The music was great (a lot of people were dancing) and we had fun. I did find it off putting that there was security and I was afraid they get a lot of riff raff. No issues! I was aware that the previous reviews are super old so i called them in advance to ask if they are still doing the same deal; $9 for two games and shoe, The woman on the phone told me "yes" i asked again to confirm and she again said yes. But when I actually showed up in 30mins, 3 famale employee all denied that they received the call. I had their number on my phone log but they acted like its not their number and had me call that number. It was obviously ringing i saw the phone light flashing (could not hear the sound) The employee saw it too but she pretended she didn't see. They insisted the deal was what previous ownership had three years ago. They flat out lied to my face. Ok. I consider it donation for that shoe prices But the problem continued. Two lanes we used, had problem with each play. All Balls stuck in the back of lanes , turns skipped, scores miscalculated, always one or two pins fell down before every second play, The employees were all playing also so It was hard to get hold of them. Remote call button is there for fun. We had to run to the front desk each time. They had such lousy customer service Taking full advantage of traveler, i bet they recognized my phone number with different area code. Because we were already there. No options. Summit lanes is amazing; it is such a welcoming and fun environment for all ages! They offer so much entertainment-more than just bowling! During our annual NYE family getaway we were searching for an indoor activity to do with our 9 person family as a respite from the snow/outdoor activities. We're all adults, and we have a 2.5 year old with us, so anything that required sustained concentration was out of the picture. After some searching, we landed on bowling - and then we got on Yelp! We found Summit Lanes and decided to give it a try despite the 2.5 star rating - but, mostly because it's snowing and because it was the closest location open. We got there, and we were one of 2 parties bowling, in the snow, in the middle of the morning - oh and the other party was the owners family. It was SO fun to have the entire place to ourselves! The owner and staff were super friendly and courteous! At one point, my little niece (the 2.5 year old, obviously) was wandering around, and the proprietor showed off his fish tank in the office - my niece loved it, and he let us wander in there multiple times during the hours we were there! If you're there long enough (which we were), there's food to order as well. It's not the most amazing food but there's enough variety of 'bar food' and 'kid food' options, that everyone was moderately pleased. Biggest plus is the price. $9 for 2 games and a shoe rental - fantastic, especially coming from central jersey where these games are PRICEY! This was my first time at this bowling alley, as I am not from the area. The lanes were the worst I have ever bowled on, however I wanted to try out my brand new bowling shoes that I just purchased so I gave it a try. I don't think they have oiled their lanes in weeks. The floor is disgustingly dirty and even the approach had dirt on it. My shoes were covered in hair and glitter when I was done and look as if I've worn them multiple times already My ball kept coming back from the return with wood shavings on it. The pinsetter was also constantly messing up. I will never bowl here again. The girl at the front desk was extremely nice and they have many pool tables but that is the only good part about my experience. read more

I don't even know where to begin! We had such a great time bowling $9 for 2 games and shoes! We also got cheap drinks and food. After we were done with our games we went and played pool and some arcade games! The staff was very nice. Bowling seemed like a fun thing to do on a rainy day when family got together from out of town. It was fun despite the bowling alley and the one employee who was miserable to deal with. We arrived around 11:30 a.m. on a Friday and realized it would not be busy but aside from the man working there, we were it for customers. About 45 minutes later another lane was used. I wouldn't have mined that the bowling alley is old and rundown if the person working there had even tried to be helpful or pleasant. He clearly did not want anyone there. He mumbled replies to questions and came across as annoyed at anything we said or asked. The first pair of bowling shoes he gave me were falling apart. Since they did not fit correctly I thought I might get an upgrade on the second pair. The second pair were more beat up and clearly not from this decade. I asked if it would be possible to get a better pair and he flat out answered "No". Others in our group had shoes that were not in the same ragged condition. The tables at the lanes were way older then the bowling shoes on my feet. The pins did not always reset. When we looked to get beer or soft drinks we had to talk to that same unpleasant man and we were clearly a pain in the butt to him. This is by far the worst bowling alley I've ever been to. The lanes are old and the pinsetter keeps malfunctioning. But the worst thing that happen was they completely ruined my ball and didn't want to take responsibility. I was bowling with my son and in the 5th frame, when my ball came back, it had a deep gash by the finger holes. Even the rubber finger grips was ruined. At that point I couldn't bowl anymore since my ball is ruined and they wouldn't give me a refund. Also they refused to take responsibility for the damage to my ball. They told me to leave it there and they would "grind it down". After nearly 2 weeks I finally got my ball back and it's now warped and can't be used anymore. I also want to point out that on their website they advertise that the fee to bowl is $5 per game all day everyday. That's not true. They charged $6, telling me its a holiday weekend. Stay away from this place unless you want to get ripped off or your have your $300 ball damaged. read more

This place was horrible! The employee behind the counter was very rude. Make sure you bring your own ball , because NONE of the house balls fit anyone's hands and if you happen to find a ball that fits your hand it's broken and chipped. The chairs are all broken. The place very dirty. My son play played the games and got tickets and get this, the Machine that you feed the tickets into and get your prizes was broken as well. Now we have a bunch of tickets and he can not do anything with them. I walked into the bathroom and the water was running in the sink. We ordered 2 sodas and both of them were flat. Here's the worst part... Last year my family and I vacationed up here and we came here the same week and we were still in the thick of the pandemic . Then the place was clean and the employees were very helpful and it was a much better experience. This is why we chose to come back again. Boy were we wrong. Being from new york city where you pay around 9 dollar for one game when i seen the prices at this place, i couldn't believe the cost. i thought maybe you had to set up the pins on your own! 2 games for 9 dollars, you just can't beat that. Then if you want to play and additional game its only 2 dollars. The alleys were fine, and they have plenty of bowling balls for all bowlers They also have pool tables, game rooms, food and a bar. Spent $89 to take the kids bowling. The lanes kept shutting down and getting stuck. Started out with only 8 pins, took us 3 hours to bowl 2 games and had to switch lanes twice. Spent $30 in the arcade and the prize machine grossly undercounted the number of tickets and would not give a prize. The owner refused to do anything to make the situation right and said "I just sunk all of my money into this place. I hope you will give us another chance after we fix it up". You might think - how bad can a bowling alley be that it gets 1 star? Well, if I could give a .5 star- I would! Wait time was so long, first they said 30 min and then after 30 min they told us another 45. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude and told my mother-in-law that he can't control how long ppl bowl for. The arcade "ran out of tokens" and then my 8 year old niece tried to trade in her tickets for a prize and the "reward machine" was broken. They told us that it wasn't their fault and the owners of the machines were "coming to fix it." (Which never happened) So we finally wait, bowling shoes were more vile than ever, balls got stuck.. it gets worse- the "food court" woman behind the counter needs a slap to the face. She called a customer crazy for asking for a water, my sister couldn't get a water - the pathetic worker wouldn't turn around and they took 2 hrs to get a frozen pretzel. we ended up with two extra since they BURNED THE PRETZELS. I know there's not too much to do around here but go to the other alleys nearby. Also, I feel like I traveled back in time and I'm in 1988 after being surrounded by this heinous decor for 3 hrs. I was excited to return to Summit Lanes after many years while traveling to the Poconos for the holidays to see my family. I have fond memories of the place having grown up here until leaving for college. But we had a very subpar experience there tonight. I called ahead a few days beforehand saying that we would have a party of 8 coming in at 5. I told them we wanted to do their Party option, which was 2 hours of games. When we arrived and talked to the front desk person, she said she wasn't informed. There were lanes available though. I paid over 80 dollars, which seemed more than what I saw online, but I figured taxes or something were to blame. Immediately upon setting up, one of our lanes wasn't working. They said they would fix it, but after ten minutes they still hadn't and then our OTHER lane stopped working. When we told them neither lanes were working, the disinterested worker told us to switch to two different lanes. That went fine for a while. We bought food, a few beers and pitchers of soda for the kids. The food was subpar, but expected. We played a few arcade games as well. After an hour and 10 minutes one of our lanes stopped again in the middle of a game. I went up to them asking to fix it, but the worker said that was the end. She said we only payed for 2 games. That didn't make sense since it was in the middle of a game. I told her we had reserved for a Party, which I told her at the beginning. She said she didn't know. I decided to not push the issue and our family left feeling disappointed by the experience. We spent well over 150 dollars and had many problems. The workers there seemed uninterested in helping us. What I thought would be a night for nostalgia just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

One of the employees ( the Hispano chef with the long hair ) here took out a knife on my family and I ! They were extremely unprofessional on handling their business with us. First of all they switched our lanes like 7 times because ( the cashier told us the later it gets the lanes just stop working ) like if that makes any sense ! I went to order food and I had asked the chef if I can make an order and he said no I'm like ok , and then the other chef ended up taking my order because clearly they were still cooking for customers. I was being as respectful as possible. I also asked the bartender there if I could have a drink and she said no I understand I did not have ID but I don't look 20 yrs old. And I had a picture of my ID. Horrible service horrible horrible service ! There were 13 of us and shut down all three of our lanes because one person didn't have their shoes on. You're telling me these people weren't messing with us since we got there ? Disgusting people wouldn't recommend this alley for nothing. Felt like I was in a Texas Chainsaw massacre movie. Visited this place about a week ago.The old man was rude and didn't not seem to want to to help anyone,was also rude to my nephew.i asked for a pool table he ask for my id I returned the pool balls when I was done and he never gave me my ID back.In the midst of everything I also forgot about my id.im from New York and didn't realize until I got back home so I called and asked if they can mail it which they agreed to and now a couple days later and they still haven't mailed it. read more

This place has all the elements to be a fun, inexpensive night out, but the elderly white man working the register really soured our experience. He was incredibly rude, to the point where we played "not it" when it was time to go pay. He individually insulted and offended every single member of our party. I also regret to have to say that it did not go unnoticed that every single party with a person or people of color were crammed into the last few lanes, side by side, while the white patrons were spread out spaciously throughout the majority of the mostly empty bowling alley. The pros first. The establishment gets two stars instead of one because the bar server was kind to my wife. The cons: we chose this bowling alley because the website said it was two games and shoes for $9 a person on Sunday nights. I mentioned the deal and the blonde woman at the counter said "no it's $11 something a person". I responded by saying maybe you should change the website and she looked at me as if to say "what's a website?" Then instead of offering to look into that or give me the advertised price she simply said "so you just want one game then?". After my family of six was nearly finished with our two games, she approached us and asked us "are you almost done because we close at 9:00?". This was an unnecessary question because the score screen clearly showed we were in our second to last frame. I was pretty sure this was not what I had remembered reading on the website so I checked again and sure enough it said 10:00pm Sunday nights not 9:00. She just wanted to rush us out so she could close early. This woman should not hold a job requiring customer interaction. If they refuse to fire her she should be demoted to polishing balls! read more

Let me start with the positives first: The prices is great. $9 for shoes and 2 games can't be beat. The establishment is clean, and the music is great. Overall a wonderful, laid back 80's vibe that I've been looking for since I came to the Pocono's. Drink and food prices are good too. Also let me say that I also acknowledge that I was a bit loud, but it's been so long since I've gotten to just bowl and unwind. However the staff were a bit rude and impatient. At first I couldn't hear the man up front over the music, he was soft spoken and I am a bit hard of hearing. I let it slide. My fiancee and I played two games at which point my fiancees father decided to join us and paid for two more games. The forth game was cut off halfway through and when I want to speak to the man running the register I was told that he would fix it and, I quote, "You can go sit down." Every interaction throughout our afternoon was short and clipped almost as if the staff couldn't be bothered to do their jobs during operating hours. Even the kitchen wasn't ready to serve food. After years of food and retail service I can tell you... there is no reason not to be ready for full service once the doors unlock, regardless of whether or not you are usually busy at that time. If this is the case, perhaps you should reexamine your operating hours. Being rude and short with customers is no way to run a business. The icing on the cake was the men's bathroom suddenly being locked when we were ready to leave. All in all I had a good time, but if you choose to go during non-peak hours be ready to know just how unwelcome you are. read more

My boyfriend prepaid for our games and when the machine allowed us to keep bowling we assumed that is what we paid for. The manager comes over and tells us we have to pay more money because we over played our games. Every other place I went to you have to prepay. Not friendly at all. The bathroom was dirty. The bowling alley itself was OK - for the poconos... It was not bad. The food was not the best - but we are talking about a bowling alley so what do you expect? Overall, I would not recommend this place and I will not be going back because the person behind the counter was not nice and welcoming at all. He was a short, older white guy with zero patience for teenage black girls. Hmmmm..... Perhaps he had another issue going on... My family and I went there on a rainy Thurs. afternoon and had a great time. Place was clean and Doc, the man working the counter, couldn't have been friendlier. The price was fantastic ($9 for two games with shoes included and only $2 for each additional game). Although we didn't eat there, the prices post for food and beverages seemed very reasonable.
