5 stars for a nice rubber track!…read more As an active walker/ runner, I am regularly seeking parks with a track. This was a serendipitous find on the way home from work. Features - The park has ample parking, 1 basketball court (which is also used for pickleball), 2 fitness zones with 10+ different workout equipment , park benches, coal pits, soccer field, padded track, and children's play area. It is very well maintained / clean and the biggest bonus is the rubberized track for me. There's also doggy poop bags too, in case you're walking your dog and forget! You can easily find walkers at 7am here which provides a relatively safe exercise environment. The only possible drawbacks I see is - 1) there is minimal shade, and 2) it is right by horse sables (it is next to the horse race track) 3) the track is relatively small (less than 0.5 miles a lap).

We LOVE the walking track here! It is well lit. My only complaint is the playground is truly geared for older kids 2.5-3years + older. I feel with such a large project, the city of Cypress could have added a few other features to make it friendly for under 3yr olds - it's literally only 1 small slide for the littles - no steering wheel to drive, or any features to fidget with, or twist, turn, pull or other. I guess it was the last thing in their budget. All in all, it is a huge upgrade to the city of Cypress and we love walking here and that they have doggy bags for when our pupp finds a couple potty spots.

Parking was very limited at that time, so plan ahead if you're going early. Clearly, a lot of people know this is the spot for a serious workout. The stairs themselves are brutal in the best way possible. After about three rounds, my legs were completely done--but it's such an effective workout. This place really gets your cardio in fast, and you feel accomplished every time you finish a round. The views along the way make it even more worth it. We also came back later in the day around 5:30 PM. It starts to get a bit dark around that time, so that's something to keep in mind, but it's still a great experience and totally worth it. Overall, if you're looking for a challenging, fun, and effective outdoor workout, Hillcrest Park stairs deliver every time. Just be ready for sore legs and limited parking during peak hours.

There are 400+ steps to climb up and down. The steps are made of timber but could be wet and slippery from early morning dew, so I feel that a late morning trek is better when the stairs are dry. On my second visit, I went around 6 PM. Although the stairs are well lit, I just did not feel safe. I found myself alone at one point and looking behind me, checking if someone is coming out of the dark bushes. Maybe it's just me... But overall, if you would like to hit your 10K steps and/or your target heart rate, this is a fun way to go!

Water features attract a lot of fowl including Canadian geese, mallard ducks and so many more duck species, plus of course seagulls and crows, pigeons, and a large number of turtles. Very fun for kids to explore. Slides and climbing are built into the structures. Adjacent to neighborhoods so lots of street parking, as well as a separate parking lot. Playground equipment geared for the 3 to 12 year old kids. Lots of covered sheds and picnic tables- those are available for Cerritos residents to rent, but otherwise are free for use. Also has grills if you want to barbecue. Clean bathrooms, onsite toddler pre-K programs offered. Lots of well maintained grassy areas and shady trees.

The playground area is great for all ages my kids had a blast and didn't want to leave. The lake area with the little church in the background is a nice touch, makes it feel more relaxing and not just your typical park. Good walking paths, plenty of grass, and nice spots to just sit and chill. Everything felt well kept and safe, which is a big plus when you're bringing kids. Plenty of room so it didn't feel overcrowded either. Only thing watch out for duck poop on the walkways and grass, especially near the water. Overall, great spot for families. Definitely coming back
