For the past 3 weeks I've taken Mary Ellen's somatic movement workshop, and it's been wonderful. A different and interesting way to look at movement. This review is specifically for Kent Bond's classes at WGY. Kent has GREAT classes over the video platform. He has corrected my alignment remotely over video which I find amazing. I highly recommend Kent to any aspiring yoga practitioner, whether just starting out or experienced and wanting to enhance or deepen your practice. I absolutely love this little studio. All of the instructors here are great and Kent, the owner, is a fountain of knowledge that I am so grateful to have been able to learn from over the years. The studio is clean and has a really nice vibe inside. The community is friendly and welcoming. The parking is good considering the location. It is in the middle of downtown so it is a small lot but I have always gotten a spot even if I don't show up early. They have set up an online platform so go to the website and check it out if you are interested in trying a class during shelter in place. I think everyone can use a bit of relaxation in their lives right now and the teachers here can certainly help you find some. read more

This place is more than just a yoga studio, it's actually a community. Such a contrast from the yoga studios I've attended in San Francisco where everyone keeps to themselves. Kent, the owners and all of the teachers who I have met (about 4) are all so wise, compassionate, and caring. Once you step inside you'll feel quickly at ease. All yoga equipment is provided here, and Kent will go out of his way to accommodate anyone's needs. F Willow Glen yoga! The first time I DRAGGED my butt to the 8am class here, I was getting all ready to do my yoga thing and then the instructor comes up to me, accuses me of wearing perfume and kicks me out of class in front of EVERYONE! I thought he was kidding at first. He literally said, "I'm gonna have to kick you out." And the funny thing was that the woman next to my friend whispered to her that she was the one who was wearing perfume, but she was too scared of the yoga man to fess up. And the dude had the nerve to try to hold on to introductory fee for a package of classes, he said "well you could come back and use it later." Dude, you just threw me out! And it's 8 o'clock in the morning. Luckily, my friend had her sassy pants on and demanded a refund and we skulked out (yeah, i said skulked). We had a killer breakfast instead, if that counts. Now, I am super conscious not to wear perfume (even though i wasn't the culprit). Major Boo. read more

Ok Ok...you got me....I rated a nail salon, now a yoga studio. So I will admit it that I am 1) whipped and 2) borderline metro sexual. Anyway, if you are hoping to one day touch your toes again this place is great. I go to a Sunday night class called "Stiff Guys Yoga". The class is mostly runners, fire fighters, and washed up used to be a contender ex-athletes like me. The class is challenging enough, but still nice for someone as flexibly challenged as myself. Price is right to, if you are new to the studio its $20 for 3 classes..can you beat that? After that you can pay as you go or pre-pay at a discount depending on how many classes. So if you are curious about yoga or a long time pro this is a solid studio. Just don't try to mess with me when I am rocking my half moon pose! read more

Update time! Hundreds of chaturangas later, I'm still consistently practicing at Willow Glen Yoga! I'm there 3-4 times a week and getting stronger every day. I am really so happy that I found this sanctuary again - it has been tremendously helpful, both physically and mentally. Willow Glen Yoga is a WG gem! I have taken classes with Kent, Gabriel, Nathania, and Karen, and I've loved each and every class. As a yoga teacher and practitioner I look for places that have great teachers and a strong community. Kent Bond is by far one of the best teachers you will find and he has surrounded himself with a cast of excellent teachers to support the community. Willow Glen Yoga has a diverse offering of classes/styles and has a warm room that is inviting and the type of yoga students that as a teacher make you proud and as a practitioner welcome you to come learn, explore and practice. Kent is few and far between when it comes to Teachers, he knows his stuff from the inside out, demonstrates with humor and compassion, and truly has the respect and attention of all his students. If you want to learn Yoga you will do yourself well by taking a class with this gentleman. As a teacher and coach for 14 years, he is my personal teacher of choice because I feel he makes a better practitioner and teacher. Overall, great yoga studio. All the instructors I've come across make a real effort to make sure all the students are practicing honestly and well. The are extremely attentive to each student and you know that if you're not doing a pose right, that they'll be over to correct you. Only downside is that there aren't any early morning classes at the moment. Other than that, its fairly affordable and a terrific group of yogis. read more

This is a great little yoga spot, I just have a few caveats: a) Tiny space, most classes CROWDED. b) Classes get canceled regularly. A couple times I've gone down to the studio for a class that was listed on that season's printed schedule only to find the studio dark and locked. Frustrating! Even more frustrating if the experience of discovering a great new teacher in a not-too-crowded class, only for the class to get canceled. The owner cancels classes if they don't meet a strict enrollment minimum within a short time period, and this means that truly good new teachers don't get a chance to build a following. c) Because the classes get so crowded, the instructors could focus more on explaining and correcting posture in poses. You've got to raise your hand and ASK the instructors to look at your form and correct you, but typically the classes move too fast for this. Instructors are receptive to giving individual attention after class, though. The multiple-class deal will save you moola and they give you plenty of time to use them all up. Oh, and they've got a special deal for new students. You get 3 classes for $20 to use within 30 days; otherwise it's $15 for individual drop-in classes. read more

Great yoga studio. Every instructor that I've worked with has been excellent. I was going to the more advanced classes, but then injured myself running and had to take it down a bit. I've re-started taking a couple of the beginning classes and love it. I'm running again and took "Yoga For Stiff Guys" last Sunday. The class was perfect as it did great stretches in my hips and hamstrings, but also got my shoulders and wrists. I would totally recommend it for runners and desk jockies of which I am both. The downside is that the studio is small and can get crowded during popular classes. read more

I have been doing Therapeutic Yoga at Willow Glen Yoga for the past few months. I initially took a group class with Jill to try and combat my anxiety and panic disorder. I was then offered the opportunity of doing some private sessions. I cannot say enough about Jill. She is the most compassionate and understanding person and truly understands my plight. I have already seen a difference in how I approach my anxiety and am constantly gaining tools to battle it. Through visualization, progressive relaxation, and overall mindfulness I am finding myself much more optimistic about soon being anxiety free! Willow Glen Yoga offers thoughtful, informed teaching. I have been practicing there for seventeen years and am grateful for the community that has developed around the studio--much more than just a place to go for a yoga class. That said, of my favorite instructors are Jill and Barbara. Jill teaches a flow class that gives experienced practitioners opportunities to grow (and sweat) yet also welcomes yoga newcomers. Weekly, Jill brings new ideas to class and puts her heart and soul into the class. When you've had a bad day and you're looking for a yoga class to pull you out of a rut--Jill's THAT teacher. I also really enjoy Barbara's medicine yoga class. She combines elements of yoga, tai chi, and even belly dancing for an eclectic class that comes together to get deep into the joints and tissues. Barbara's class isn't an aerobic workout but you'll definitely feel it the next day. read more

My daughter invited me to this studio. You can read Stephanie A's review. She is my daughter. I am a Bikram yoga lover and I practice almost daily, I wanted to mix it up and take other yoga's again. I am happy I went. I took the Tri-yoga class with Gabriel and the Vinyasa with Kent. It's a great mix with the Bikram practice. Gabriel and Kent are great teachers. I also enjoy spending quality time with my daughter here. I also recommend this studio if you don't like the heated yogas. read more

I started yoga pretty late in life and always worried about fitting in to the scene. Happily, I have found WG Yoga to be accepting and supportive of me as a beginner, and can also see the more advanced students around me are getting what they need. The instructors and other students are friendly. The facility is very comfortable and nice to be in. I love how I fee the next day: a little sore, but stronger and better balanced. I am a fan! YAYYYY for Willow Glen Yoga. I've attended, Hatha Flow, Stiff Man's, Vinyasa, and Restorative here....I would say all classes are great, but my favorite is the Restorative class. It is a session of BLISS! Need I say more...it is focused on meditation + hip openers, all floor poses. I've been practicing yoga for over 20 years and Willow Glen Yoga is as good as it gets. It's a safe, no judgement sanctuary with excellent instruction. Self care and integrity in the practice trumps the trendy "exercise" studio where instructors "talk" you through poses. It's a safe haven and a strong community. I have been taking yoga classes at WG Yoga for more than 2 years. I've tried them all and I haven't been disappointed yet. My absolute favorite is Yin Yoga with Lorien, but all the teachers are delightful, helpful, courteous, and discreet, as in, they don't make you feel like a fool if you are messing it all up. The one and only yoga place I cannot stop going to! I'm a huge fan... I even sport their new razor back shirts that have their really awesome logo. I have enjoyed all the classes I have taken there, especially Kent's Monday evening Vinyasa class. I have also attended an inversion workshop with him and that was really helpful. One thing I truly appreciate about Kent, besides his supreme expertise, is his humility and kindness. He was so welcoming my very first day and since then has always made sure he knew who I was. I have also tried other instructors and they are awesome too! Susannah will kick your butt at Advanced Vinyasa but she's a wonderful instructor great and very entertaining. I've also taken Maria's Vinyasa class and she has a very unique style to her teaching. Overall, I love this place. I am moving back to SF after graduating at SCU and it will undoubtedly be hard to find a yoga community as wonderful as this one. I will definitely visit WGY Monday evenings when I can. I've been to a handful of yoga studios around the Campbell/ San Jose area. I took two classes at Willow Glen yoga and I was satisfied with both. However this review is mainly for Alex - take her class! She was extremely helpful and fixed my poses in a non-disruptive/embarrasing way for the rest of the class. Her class was such a good workout and I definitely felt different after we finished. The studio itself is pretty small and if it's a hot day the room can get pretty warm. They also don't have a huge variety of time offerings (I'm interested in evening classes for after work) and level 1 classes. Given the location, parking isn't bad at all and if you live in Willow Glen, this would be a pretty convenient place. Give it a try, especially if you can take a class with Alex. read more

I've been going to WGY for almost 4 yrs now and love it! When I first started I immediately felt welcome and not intimidated in the least. Willow Glen Yoga and Kent have long been my favorites when it comes to yoga but I have to admit, it has been many, many years since I practiced yoga regularly anywhere. During the COVID time I felt called to do a yoga class and it reminded me of Kent and WG Yoga, so I looked him up online and saw that he and his other teachers were doing classes online. I was so excited, I signed up for Kent's Vinyasa Flow class, and I am once again hooked on Kent's classes. My first class was like seeing an old friend, Kent's sense of humor and his gentle and practical way of teaching reminded me why I loved his classes. I have been doing his classes regularly for the last 6 weeks but I do not live in the San Jose area any more, so I was sad thinking I would no longer be able to do his classes once he went back in to the studio. Well, it looks like Willow Glen Yoga is going online full time now and I couldn't be happier. I have always felt that yoga is as good as it's teacher and this is about the best out there. Don't miss out on Kent's class, especially now that it is online, you can do it in the comfort of your own home and have the community and teacher with each class. Jeff Lang's yoga class on Friday afternoon 4:00-5:30 is my guiding light for the week. If I had to choose one yoga class to take, this would be it. I find that his masterful instruction seeps into my everyday activities. My body feels suspended somewhere between the benefits of a deep, thorough workout, and an easy freedom of mind and body. I am more focused, centered, and committed in my work and in my yoga practice. The power and beauty of his class informs the other yoga classes I attend, as if he is continuing to teach me throughout the week. I encourage you to give this class a try. It is nice to have an instructor that will show you when you do a pose wrong. I highly recommend her for those who like the Vinyasa Flow style. I've been to plenty of yoga classes, but none like Willow Glen Yoga. Kent Bond is an inspired teacher. He has that knack of knowing what each persons particular issues are from looking at their poses and being able to kindly and compassionately correct the pose within the limits of each body. I have a broken vertebrae and I don't trust just anyone to help me with yoga, but I trust Kent totally! I also really enjoy Maria's Forest Yoga on Thursdays and Jeff''s Yoga Tune Up on Fridays.
