All of the teachers follow the same flow formula (at least with respect to the "groove" class offering that dominates the schedule) Starts out with yin or stretching... go through a warrior combo sequence... first slow, taking a few breaths in each pose, then following through it a few times. Quick break to do core then the flow again followed by a cool down. Class to class is verrrry similar which is nice for the structure but makes me feel like my practice isn't well rounded. I've been going to another studio just to make sure my practice involves more then the same 12 poses and pigeon. My favorite teach is Bryna. She has a wonderful personality and energy and is the least Formulaic. Kayla is also fantastic but usually only subs. I like and recommend David too, esp if you are newer. As far as I can tell, they don't do much in the way of adjustments or hands on so if you're looking for they you might be happier at namaspa.

I can absolutely say, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that I found it here, I feel SO at home here at Still Water! Shannon, the owner, is one of the best instructors I have ever taken a class with, and the amazing part is, that ALL of her instructors are amazing! Since she is a certified teacher trainer and certifies a lot of her teachers herself, there is an incredible amount of consistency at Still Water, no matter whose class you are taking that day. The dictation is so clear, and we are always given three levels to stop at, so we can practice at our own level, push ourselves if we want to, take it easy if that's what our body or soul needs that day, and there is never any judgement or criticism, only encouragement, positive vibes, and genuine love for every single person in the room, breathing together as one. I just got back from a retreat in Greece too, which Shannon herself ran from start to finish. It was AMAZING, I don't even know how to describe the high I'm on right now! We just got home (hubby and I went together), and I want to go back already, lol. Seriously though, the friendships and memories we made will last a lifetime, and I will never forget the moments we had laughing, crying (good tears), and practicing yoga in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever seen together. If you're looking for something more than just a place to take a yoga class here and there, give Still Water a shot. Shannon's bio in particular struck me, as I am a big fan of some of the yogis she has trained under and trained with. I reached out to her via email and got a quick response back. Right off the bat, she was very gracious and welcoming. A week or two later, my husband and I brought a small group (6 of us total) to practice yoga with Shannon at her Weekend Warrior class on a recent Sunday, and we all had a wonderful, blissful experience! Shannon is just as lovely and welcoming in person as she was through our correspondences via email. The Sunday class we took was the perfect blend of a challenging, invigorating, centering, calming, and inspiring Vinyasa class that I was looking for. Even the Savasana at the end of class was wonderful with all the extra attention to detail, head/shoulder mini massage, and the darkening of the room to create an extra tranquil, meditative environment for us. I no longer feel stressed and I am about to embark on my craziest adventure yet: law school. But above all, this course allowed me to assess myself and life and taught me that there is no potential; there are simply limitless possibilities and I am empowered to do anything I imagine. The instructor was so easy to talk to and did a great job making me feel comfortable and understand what to expect. They also have childcare on sight . I would book in advance and the studio can be quite busy. If driving there for the first time, Apple Maps will direct you to the upper parking lot. This is a long overdue review for Barre3! I was a member in Portland at the SE location, and spent…read moremy first few months in Bend getting my workout on at this awesome studio. Today I returned, and was reminded of a few things... 1. 2015 presented some challenges that caused me to get out of my normal workout-aholic state - I am out of shape! 2. Everyone at Barre3 from the instructors to the participants are an awesome group of people. 3. Holy crap - it seems like an easy workout as your not doing large movements, but wow, those little contractions equal a whole lot of "shakes and quakes" and make significant changes in your body. Classes are an hour, and start out with a warmup floor segment, then move on to a lower body segment at the barre, then back to the floor for more legwork incorporating upper body weight training, and finally, an ab and glute section on the mats. The classes go by quickly, generate a ton of sweat and soreness, and the music keeps you going when you think you can't do one more rep. I'm going to be one sore and happy gal tomorrow after this awesome workout. Sidenote: They offer childcare during classes and have a small play area, and I've noticed over my time at the various studios that this is a workout that expectant mama's love, as it's easy to modify and still get results while creating a tiny beautiful human.
