The Vibe: Move Me. I came to Groove Yoga to move. Leanne welcomed me in, gave me a tour, and chatted before class. Then I learned Rejuvenating Groove was closer to yin. The Guide: Leanne Schweitzer * Rejuvenating Groove I asked Leanne how she found yoga. She was looking for relief from work. One class, and she was hooked. Then a 30-day challenge. She won it. The prize: more yoga. Eleven years later, it's still her work. ‍ The Soft Side: We began on our backs with bolsters. Leanne's voice was slow, deliberate, guiding our attention from our feet up. Body. Mind. Spirit. With our hands over our hearts, she shared an idea from The Heart Code: the heart is more than a pump. Emotionally. Spiritually. Then Deer Pose. A supine twist with straps. Long holds. Less doing. More noticing. Finally, Savasana. The Space & Place: Groove catches the light. Shelves hold books and small objects; a Ganesha figure sits among them. A community board covers a wall. Beyond it: a spacious practice room. Dark floors. High ceiling. The Sum-Up: On my way out, I thanked Leanne. I'd come to move. I hardly did. I left moved. Field Note: Sometimes you receive what you need by letting go of what you came for. read more

Erin Rae is a massage therapist who works in the studio and is AMAZING. She is interested in knowing you and your body's concerns and will thoughtfully and skillfully cater your session to your liking. She is trained in aromatherapy and other techniques to make your time with her therapeutic for both body and mind. I cannot wait to get back on her table. read more

Great studio for advanced yogis. The space itself is beautiful. All of the teachers follow the same flow formula (at least with respect to the "groove" class offering that dominates the schedule) Starts out with yin or stretching... go through a warrior combo sequence... first slow, taking a few breaths in each pose, then following through it a few times. Quick break to do core then the flow again followed by a cool down. Class to class is verrrry similar which is nice for the structure but makes me feel like my practice isn't well rounded. I've been going to another studio just to make sure my practice involves more then the same 12 poses and pigeon. My favorite teach is Bryna. She has a wonderful personality and energy and is the least Formulaic. Kayla is also fantastic but usually only subs. I like and recommend David too, esp if you are newer. As far as I can tell, they don't do much in the way of adjustments or hands on so if you're looking for they you might be happier at namaspa. read more

It has finally happened. I found a studio in this town that's heated, challenging, and fun. Yes, it's not for beginners. Yes, it's very physical and focuses on asana more than any other limb of yoga, however, they often offer something up that's more spiritual at the beginning of class. If you want to push yourself physically and mentally while listening to fun music, you will be stoked. I've always loved Baptiste but found the studio here to be militant and it felt like I was being punished. Groove has really creative sequencing. I swear to you I've never encountered such genius in the 11 years I've been practicing at countless studios from Burlington, VT to Seattle to SF to Tahoe and now here. I'm picky and I love this place. The only thing that could possibly be better is if they had a water cooler and a slightly larger space. Update: Water cooler! Amazing:) read more

I've lived in Bend for a while and have been a Namaspa patron most of that time. Over the summer I decided to "see other" studios in town. Groove has really wonderful teachers. They offer some great workshops. And their space is beautiful. But here's the deal: their passes expire. I've never gone to a to a yoga studio that does that before and I've practiced I'm several states at too many studios to count. And to add insult to injury, their schedule is quite limited. Why?? Super bummer. read more

First impressions are important and when you walk through the door and wait while the person behind the counter has a lengthy discussion about something personal with a couple of others before even acknowledging your presence it doesn't give the best impression or sense of community. There was so much talking going on before class that it felt more like a gym than a yoga studio. I get the music part, but the playlist wasn't well thought out, and somehow counting down in poses feels exactly like the gym, not like yoga. The studio is small so the use of headphones/mic seems like overkill. In my prior studio the music was loud and artful and we tuned our senses to listen in to the teacher never needing a mic. To each his/her own, but this place is not for me. read more

This is NOT your traditional yoga studio. More like doing yoga poses in a club: loud music, mic'd teachers, party tricks. It may not be your typical yoga, but, man, is it fun! If you want to try yoga but are intimidated by the chanting, meditative, more spiritual aspects, this may be the place for you. Get out of your head, sweat your butt off, and strengthen muscles you never knew you had. This studio got me hooked on yoga! read more

I dig this spot. The teachers are amazing. Classes are challenging and very athletic. I generally Go to the 6am classes and it's a great way to start the day. The teachers play loud music during the classes which provides a nice distraction from My thoughts. I would highly recommend this place for yoga purists and newcomers alike. read more

I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to talk about what an incredible experience I have had- and continue to have- with my daily practice at Groove Yoga. Before I moved to Bend, I took a class at Groove 7 years ago- and I LOVED it. When we relocated here, I signed up for the monthly unlimited even though I had not practiced regularly in a few years. Almost immediately - I was hooked. The classes are incredible - the exact right blend of physically challenging and mentally awakening. On days when I am feeling blah- it's like the instructors know what I need to hear in order to get me out of my own way. The instructors are gifted. I find myself better, kinder, more tolerant (oh and also much stronger) by practicing daily - and I am completely and totally obsessed. I have some favorites when it comes to teachers, but really... I have never had a class that I did not love. I truly think that if everyone had some Groove in their lives, the world would be a much gentler place. Thank you, Amber and Kristin and the entire team for creating such a special and welcoming place. read more

Very nice studio and a really great staff. I'm not a fan of hot yoga but this space is gently heated and it's quite nice. I love flowing to music and the instructors do a great job guiding all levels through their practice. A very nice, low key place to groove on! read more

This studio is amazing! The studio is stylish, the instructors are knowledgeable & hands on and the music is so fun. When you walk out the door, your mind will be clear, your heart will be full and your butt will be kicked . You can't go wrong with any of the classes at Groove. Highly recommended!! read more

I stopped in while traveling from Houston. Shawn was very welcoming and taught a killer yoga class! She is very skilled with her teaching techniques while making it fun and challenging. The music was awesome too! Great mix of music. Highly recommend this place! read more

I love that they play music here. One of the best studios in Bend. It's small. But it doesn't smell funky. Love the music and the teachers are great. Sometimes I feel like it can gets but fast paced and I'd wish they'd break it down a bit. You know I went to a morning class and it was too intense. The afternoon classes are nice. read more

If you are looking for a yoga experience that will challenge you, this is the studio. I have attended the studio for over a year. The fun music and great vibe make this a welcoming place to practice. The teachers are fantastic, pushing and working with your limitations. Hands down the number one yoga studio in town. read more

Love this studio. Where else can you get a yoga ass kicking and, in the same day, take an amazing yin class? Love love love the classes with Gerry Lopez. We're so lucky to have him as a local in Bend and even luckier that he shares his yoga practice with us! read more

This yoga studio is awesome. The teachers are all very welcoming and encouraging of new students! The teachers are always offering modifications of poses for the beginner or the advanced student. This is not your typical yoga studio, and that is one of the main reasons I LOVE it. The music is loud, we flow fast, you sweat a lot, but all of that makes savasana even more precious. I chose to practice at this studio 5-6 days a week, and cant imagine practicing anywhere else!!! read more

Groove Yoga is hands down the best yoga workout. It's incredibly challenging but you see results, and savasana feels all the more better.. Other yoga studios do not compare. read more

Great studio- clean, open, inviting. The class was wonderful, a great vinyasa practice! I highly recommend this studio!

I was an out of town guest and wanted to try something new. I felt very welcome by the instructor Amber. The class was very challenging and pushed my limits. Very accepting atmosphere for all levels. Really enjoyed the class. Loved listening to music too. read more

We took the Groove class with Cynthia last week and we both agreed that it was one of the best yoga classes we have ever experienced! The energy of the group, the asana flow, the instruction, and the music selection were fantastic! We were also grateful to meet so many cool and welcoming fellow yogis. We felt so balanced and refreshed after class, when we move to Bend next year we will certainly be practicing at Groove :) - Sarah and David read more

I have now tried a couple of different classes at Groove, and I won't be back. It is always HOT in the room, even when it is not a "hot yoga" class. I dislike exercising in hot humidity with sweat running down my nose. This is not a studio for beginners...poses are more advanced and challenging and the participants are doing handstands while I'm doing a down-dog...rather intimidating. Some people love this studio; I am not impressed and won't return. read more

Quite literally the best yoga studio in Bend !! The teachers are incredibly knowledgable and kick your butt in all the right ways !! HIGHLY recommend !! You will not be disappointed, you will be welcomed and feel relaxed and comfortable at any level ! read more
