All of the teachers follow the same flow formula (at least with respect to the "groove" class offering that dominates the schedule) Starts out with yin or stretching... go through a warrior combo sequence... first slow, taking a few breaths in each pose, then following through it a few times. Quick break to do core then the flow again followed by a cool down. Class to class is verrrry similar which is nice for the structure but makes me feel like my practice isn't well rounded. I've been going to another studio just to make sure my practice involves more then the same 12 poses and pigeon. My favorite teach is Bryna. She has a wonderful personality and energy and is the least Formulaic. Kayla is also fantastic but usually only subs. I like and recommend David too, esp if you are newer. As far as I can tell, they don't do much in the way of adjustments or hands on so if you're looking for they you might be happier at namaspa.

I find myself wanting to move, and enjoying day to day opportunities to walk, to balance, to stretch. I found that taking a class of hers once a week was so great that I wanted more. And, whatever else is happening in my life, I attend her classes. This is the first fitness program that I don't make myself go to. I want to go, and wake up excited for the next thing I'll learn. She has always personalized things to my level, and always struck just the right balance in encouraging me to stretch a bit beyond my current comfort zone while honoring my body's current limitations. Even if if I start out limited in my ability to do a particular exercise, she always makes it clear that these limitations will fade as I continue to train. And she's always right. She expresses faith in my continued ability to improve, which makes me strive harder. Something about her groups: These are the most encouraging workout groups I've ever been a part of. Most classes at most fitness centers, I wouldn't attend, because most "fitness moves" don't flow intuitively for me. They take effort, and I tend to need patient coaching with repetition until I "get it". Jess' groups give me the guidance and support I need. I risk more, I laugh a lot, I sweat more than I'd expect -- and the people in the group are always encouraging -- even if something takes me three times as long to complete as it does anyone else. Some of this is due to the wonderful people in her groups, and some of it is due to the fun, noncompetitive, and even playful environment that Jess fosters. It's this environment and this coaching that have allowed me to improve and to increase my movement capabilities so rapidly. It's safe to not get it right the first time; it's safe to say, "I don't understand; can you help me?" And it's a part of the fun to keep trying until I get there. I've never giggled so much in a workout, or improved so quickly! You know how little kids are always finding ways to move, how they don't easily "sit still" or just walk as a means to an end? Rather than seeing them simply walk you'll see them twirl, climb, dance, jump. Since working with Jess, I feel like one of those kids -- looking for new ways to move, to balance, to climb, and enjoying finding and learning new ways to move. I'm very impressed with Jess - her ability to affirm and train people, from beginners to experienced athletes, is something I haven't seen before. Thereafter, she video joined me in my apartment in the Bay Area for 1:1 training. She was great at adapting to not only my current state of fitness but also in the equipment I did/didn't have on hand and my space. I also suffered an injury at a certain point during our training, and she was so great in finding ways I could still push myself while giving body parts time to heal. If you're someone who wants to be challenged, Kristin is for you. I have worked out regularly previously, but I felt sore in so many new ways with Kristin. She really got me to challenge myself in l ways different than I had previously experienced. She introduced me to muscle groups I thought I knew but didn't. I loved that she would get specific about which areas (medial triceps vs triceps) we were targeting and where, so I could really focus on ensuring I felt the movements. She was also really flexible around my crazy work schedule and held me accountable to making sure we got in the number of workouts with her I told her I wanted to consistently hit. I was quite sad to hear that she was not taking any new clients and I could go to another fitness coach. I lost $$$ and that's not right, we are after all in a pandemic and most businesses have been kind about working with people.
