I had my 2024 Nissan Rogue in for some engine work last week with only 6000 miles on it. I picked it up 12/17/25 and when I got it home, washed it up as it was terrible dirty. After wiping it down with a towel, I noticed a scratch on the left side of the rear bumper. It is not one that can be rubbed out as it took all the paint off. I bought out my leased Nissan Rogue and had a good experience with sales and finance staff. Unfortunately I am really disappointed with the quick service - the website and door both say open til 6pm but I discovered it is very misleading as when I showed up at 4:10pm, I was told that all techs leave at 4pm and 4-6pm are really just for pick ups. Their hours should indicate last intake happens at 3:30pm or whenever it it actually is so we don't waste out time on a trip to get an oil change. Service Advisor: Edson Granados should be educated about how to explain service fees to customer. He cam up to me and told me the fees, beast on the fee he provided I said to go ahead and get the repair done. When everything was done my bill was double. He didn't say anything about the service fees he only told me the kit fee...This is not the way to make your customer satisfied. He should be charged the service fees this the way he might learn to better serve the customer. This really doesn't deserve one star it should be 0. read more

The Sales experience here was great when we bought our Nissan Pathfinder, however, the service department is a whole other story. We bought our vehicle with ~30,000 miles on it certified and noticed the auto stop/start feature wasn't working but it didn't impact our driving so they said we can look at it during the first oil change. They said our battery was low but shouldn't impact much. Fast foward to our 2nd oil change at ~40,000 miles and brought up the feature didn't work. They indicated it would be $140 for the diagnostic and determined our battery was critically low and needed replaced. The battery warrany ran out at 36,000 miles so they wanted to charge us for the cost of the battery and labor to replace an issue we raise a week after buying the car. We took the car in on a Monday for these routine things and still hasn't been finished as of Wednesday. They did make things right after I filed a complaint against the Service Dept. with Nissan corporate, the dealership itself, and the Better Business Bureau. Trusting their certified inspections seems dangerous to me so if you're in the market, get a trusted mechanic to give the certified vehicles a once over before buying. read more

I brought a car in in the morning for an express oil change and it was made clear that it was a busy day but they would try to get it in and at least keep me updated throughout the day on if my car could be done or not. Unfortunately, I did not get a call or text with an update if it could be completed or not as I was on a tight travel schedule that day, and when I reached out twice for updates I got little resolution but some half promises. However, if you read this far, parts and service director Denny Fedosa deserves a 5 review himself- he was humble and owned the poor communication error on behalf of his team and went above and beyond to make it right. Hummel's was great. Debbie sold us our Nissan, and she was really friendly and nice. There was NO pressure to buy; Debbie just showed us all of the vehicles available that matched our criteria. She did not put any pressure on how little or much I should do the test drive for. All of the new rennovations, friendly folks working there, and just niceness speaks to their dedication to provide excellent service. As a woman, I dread going to make any major purchase, whether it is for an appliance or vehicle. Normally, it is like the sales people do not know that I have the internet available and am able to read reviews, the Kelly Blue Book, etc.--many salespeople are stuck in a 1950s mentality and think (for some reason) I don't know what I'm looking for or how to find information about their brand. In fact, why would I go shopping without my phone? What really made my experience with Hummel's great is that I did not experience ANY pressure but only excellent customer service. I have been driving the Nissan for a week now, and it is everything that the website and Debbie said it would be. It is convenient that the vehicles come sparkling clean, fully gassed, and the oil was just changed. We also enjoyed being able to purchase additional insurance for better peace of mind. Brought my 2017 Nissan Juke in for 30K service. Had a very good experience overall. Based on the fact that I had just bought snow tires and didn't need my tires rotated (or my wipers replaced), the service advisor saved me some money by changing the service from an "official" 30K to basically an oil change. Only one complaint. Everyone knows that earlier CVT transmissions from Nissan have some problems. When I brought this up, the service advisor stopped smiling and refused to acknowledge any issues. I asked if I should consider getting my transmission fluid changed early to help prevent any possible issues, and he refused to offer any advice. He simply told me what Nissan says, but said they'd do it if I wanted to. When I pointed out that he is an advisor and I was looking for his advice, he robotically repeated the Nissan line. Not very helpful and I lost some respect for their service. Otherwise, they were all extremely polite and friendly and helpful, but I just don't know how much I can really trust them to be honest with me if they're unwilling to say anything other than the Nissan company line. I suppose maybe they have no choice, but regardless, I'll expand my search for other mechanics next time I need any service. read more

When I was considering the purchase of my vehicle I pointed out a noise and requested it be checked out. I was told it was a heat shield that was rubbing and that they bent it back. The same noise has been their for a year now and when I took it into Willis's service department to have it diagnosed, they emailed me a quote of 7,500 for a new transmission. The vehicle has been regularly seen at Willis since it was purchased(I saw the service dates). They sold me a Nissan that's transmission lasts an average 100,000 miles and the Nissan had 96,000 miles at the time of purchase. A major dealership should have more integrity, that's why we pay there crazy prices! read more

I was in for the second time today to have someone figure out why I had a humming sound coming from the engine. The first time I was told that is normal operation. I did not believe that a car that is only 2 1/2 years old should have a humming sound (Thus the second appointment). I have a 13 year old car that has never made that kind of noise. Randy V (service advisor for WIllis Nissan on Merle Hay Road) was awesome. He listened to my concerns, asked questions and had the service tech ride with me to help diagnose the issue. Hands down offended by how we were treated and what was overheard about other customers during their test drive. The salesman we worked with made a comment, "Money is clearly no object," and didn't ask if we wanted to put money down. Then he produced an offer showing as little as $8500 down and a payment of $589 when the national ad said the same vehicle should have been $456-472/month with $4700 down with 10,000 miles. I bought my first car through Willis Nissan and have had nothing but trouble since I got the car I DO NOT recommend buying from here nor getting your vehicle serviced, the first five days of me having my car the oil light popped I took it back and they claimed they forgot to reset the light then a week after that so two weeks of me having the car my breaks start to squeak I texted my sales person and she acted like they weren't willing to fix the problem for me but after more time of me messaging she finally told me to book an appointment , I book my appointment and when I finally take my car in to Willis Cadillac they told me what was wrong and then I also brought up that my headlight kept going out and ask them to fix that as well I left there without my car the next day I was called and told that my fuse box had a fuse blow which is why my light was out they had my car for TWO weeks which took the whole 30 day warranty I had from them and while they had my car I was the one calling to get updates about my car I even went to the extent to ask if anything else was wrong with my transmission engine or anything major and they told me no everything was fine just the fuse fast forward I go get my car and turn it on and my engine light was on when I told them they claimed that they didn't see it and asked if I would want to leave it there of course I did because I didn't bring it in with the light on I then was able to pick it up the next day and everything seemed to be fine with dash except my car was driving funny to me acting like it didn't wanna gain speed I told them my concerns and took my car back in they claimed they checked and NOTHING was wrong and I had to take their word for it because I trusted that they wouldn't give me my car back with trouble fast forward again it's time for my oil change I get it done and I was told that my car needed transmission fluid and that it needed it at 60,000 miles even though bought my car at 90,000 so they had time to see my car needed it I take it back to Cadillac and they told me the starting price for transmission fluid was 400 and to see why my engine light was on would be another 200 so I left and got my car serviced else where as of right NOW my car has stopped on me due to my car needing the oil pump to be replaced I understand that cars have problems but I have only had my car since march 28th I do hope they start taking time to make sure their cars are in better shape before sale in the future because if not your better off buying a car from Matilda's dad then Willis Nissan ! read more

I had a couple of coworkers that had leased 2016 Nissan Leafs from this location in March of this year. They shared with me the deal they got, and I walked in the door to talk to Randy (a sales manager) in order to lease a 2016 Leaf SV. I told them the price I wanted, and shared the names of my coworkers that had previously purchased from them. They came back with a price $150/month higher, didn't take my name, phone number, anything...just said they can't do it. They said they couldn't match that deal as my coworkers got a special deal for being previous Leaf owners. I said no problem, and walked out the door. Told him what I was looking for, and he took my info and said he would call me back. 20 minutes later he called me back with a price $5 more than what I asked. My daughter bought a "Hummel's certified" SUV from them. They supposedly have a checklist but this car got nothing but a car wash and sent out on the lot. It blew a power steering hose right after she got it. They tried to say that was not part of their bumper to bumper or powertrain warranty. I denied the services and went to Firestone auto care in Pleasant hill Iowa. They charged me 10.00 for complete car check which was on sale. They then replaced two bolts hence repairing the panel underneath. Hummels Nissan tried to do a cash grab on me and didn't even try to repair my car. I don't believe Firestone has better mechanics. My sales person Cherie was in communication all day until it was time to show car then suddenly had to leave work sick but I was told coworkers had her back. The Service place is a great rip off , they don't report any problem to you until you tell them what the problem is and then they will say oh yes (why the hell you call yourself service place if the customer diagnoses the problem and tell you) and charge you ridiculously higher amount for the repairs and their repairs are pretty shoddy, the problems will repeat within short time. Have you heard any service place which doesn't test drive the car after service, this is the only place in the whole world that doesn't test drive your car after service, they cheat on the parts too, they make you believe that they replaced your parts with new parts but they don't, they will install substandard parts and the problem repeats, I doubt if they even replace the parts, so that you get frustrated with your old car, give up and buy a new car from them, it's one of their tactics to force a new car on you. My advice is if you want to spend your hard earned money on your next car, this is not the place, run away as far as you can from this stinker, you deserve better care and service and first of all honesty and peace of mind for the money you spend. read more

In 2017, I was interested in leasing a Rogue. My son had just leased a Rogue from a dealer in Omaha where he lives so I was aware of pricing supported by Nissan Corp. Hummels lease price was significantly higher so I got my car in Omaha. Wanted to keep my business in my community this year when my lease was ready to expire so gave Hummel's another chance. Again they were not interested in giving me a fair price. THEIR QUOTE WAS $150.00 MORE PER MONTH than Nissan of Omaha!! That's a lot of money over a 36 month lease period! They also included Iowa tax and registration, paid the remaining 2 months of my lease and the over mileage fee- no questions asked with very little down - I'm not lying!! I also have a relative from Ankeny that got a Honda van in Omaha this year because they got a much better perice. Since there are few Nissan and Honda dealers in central Iowa perhaps they can get away with high pricing but I urge anyone who is in the market for a vehicle to consider at least calling a dealer in Omaha! By the way I did most of the deal by phone and internet. It was seamless with no hidden fees. And very much worth the drive to Omaha! read more

On October 19th 2019, I purchased a used 2013 BMW 528 from Hummel's Nissan dealership in Des Moines, Iowa. In the process of closing the deal and signing the paperwork, I told their Finance Manager Mr. Anthony Flynn that I want to apply for financing only through Community Choice Credit Union in Johnson, Iowa. I told him it would be my only choice. My credit score at that time was over 860, so I knew I would be approved. Half an hour later Mr. Flynn told me that I was approved for credit with Capital One. I told him that I don't want credit with Capital One, but with Community Choice Credit Union. He was trying to convince me that they are giving me a better interest rate. After I almost broke the deal, he agreed to use the loan already approved from the Community Choice Credit Union. A week or so after, I started getting more surprises. I received a letter from Veridian Credit Union thanking me for applying for a loan with them, and that my credit score was 788. When I called Veridian and asked them why they ran my credit score, they told me that I applied for a car loan through them on 10/19/19. I went to the dealership to talk to Mr. Flynn. He was playing stupid when I asked him why he submitted so many loan applications in my name when I told him that I want to go with Community Choice Credit Union only. He told me that he had to do that. When I told him that he did that because lenders give him at least $250 for each approved application he submits. He was denying it at the first but later he admitted that he gets the money from the bank only if I take the loan. He was lying, because the bank told me that they give him a bonus if the application is approved regardless if I actually take the loan or not. When he started laughing I lost my temper and asked for his manager. Mr. Flynn said "I am the manager." After I repeated that, I want to talk to HIS manager, he wrote his manager's name, Randy Kirckhoff, on the back of his business card. When I found his manager, he wasn't better than his employee. He didn't even offer an apology for his employee's wrongdoings. I talked to a lawyer and she advised me to submit a complaint to the Iowa Attorney General's office. Mr. Flynn used my identity without permission to obtain monetary gain for himself. I gave him my social security number to obtain the car loan from a specific bank, and not to use it for his personal gain. He submitted four loan applications in my name; Hummel Brothers Inc., Community Choice Credit Union, Veridian Credit Union, and Capital One bank, and it dropped my credit score from 863 to 788 in one day. The loan applications to additional banks were fraudulent and a crime. Mr. Flynn and Mr. Kirckhoff think such criminal wrongdoing is a laughing matter, so I suggest customers think twice before giving their personal information to staff at Hummel's read more

Was traveling across the country with my family for vacation when my wheel bearing failed damaging my ball joint, axle and brake calipers, rotors and pads. We managed to limp in at 1 am. Tom got us in first thing in the morning and managed to get us back on the road 5 hours later, the exact time he predicted, getting us back on the road for home. Hummel is a very very busy facility. They are very accommodating and have a very friendly staff. I always know I am in trusted hands when I come to this location. My only flaw with this place is the waiting room. There is limited seating for those waiting, and like I said there are a lot of people waiting. In addition to the lack of seating, the cleanliness of the waiting room is nothing to write home about. I was disgusted by the ants crawling around the floor making me wish I dropped off my car and went home instead of subjecting myself to that. Took my car in for an oil change. When the service advisor came out to tell me how my car was he noted the cabin filter needed change (which they suggest every time I am there) everything else looked great except I had a nail in my tire. Being that I bought my tires elsewhere and have a repair warranty with them, I didn't have it fixed. Took my car to where I bought the tires to be told that I didn't have a nail in my tire my tire was fine. So not only did they try to sell me something I didn't need but I spent another hour at another shop to get nothing fixed. This isn't the first time they tried to sell me something I didn't need. The biggest sale they tried was to tell me I needed new tires just a few months after I had gotten new ones elsewhere. I will not be doing business with Hummel's ever again. read more
