My colleague and I were entrusted to pick up donuts for a training session on the morning and regretfully was not able to take pictures of the two dozens donuts that the staff selected for us because employees got to them before I can take a photo of them. My favorite breakfast food are donuts!! Heck! I must admit that I like donuts any time of the day! Well, Willie's Donuts was our first stop of the day before beginning our roadtrip. We arrived here close to their opening hours so their display cases were packed with goodies!! I was hoping for paczkis. Unfortunately, they did not have any made that day so too bad for me. Bought me a Cream filled Chocolate donut and a Raspberry filled donut. Both tasted fine. Probably the best donuts I had during our stay in Michigan. The other donuts we purchased for our group were gobbled up by the family members. Good service provided by the person on duty. Shop was clean. I can only comment on the donuts in this review. A coworker brought in a couple dozen of their donuts to work today. She talked me into two donuts, being the apple fritter and sour cream doughnut. I'm a big texture guy, so I was very impressed with the crunchiness of the outside and the just-right moistness of the interior on them both. Believe me when I say they were absolutely delicious! You definitely don't count calories when you go to Willie's, but life's short, right?! Eat a donut (or three) from The BEST donut spot! The Earl filled with buttercream and their apple fritters loaded with huge apple chunks are 2 of my favorites and my ABSOLUTE favorite is the donut filled with Bavarian cream and fresh strawberries or raspberries! SO amazingly GOOD. The owner is incredibly sweet and talented, and makes all of the fillings fresh daily. She is willing to do my dozen special order call ahead within 24 hours (they can get pretty busy and sell out mid-morning most days), so I usually place my orders over the phone! read more

It was a rainy Sunday today and all I could think of was "I need a donut". Unfortunately, I am lactose intolerant but I could not get this off my mind, so I picked up the old ball and chain and we headed over to Willie's Donuts. This store has been here for years and I'm so glad I finally made a visit. We stopped in and got a half dozen of doughnuts. The staff was extremely friendly. In fact, we choose our six donuts, then the kind lady said "would you like some extra? I won't charge you. We will be closing shortly and I don't want them to go to waste." What a kind gesture. When we get back to the car, we couldn't wait. We ate a bite out of every donut. Each donut blew me away. Truly, I was left speechless. Those we the best donuts I've ever had. I have eaten 4 donuts today now because of this kind woman behind the counter. I'm definitely going to be going back soon. I highly recommend anybody with a hankering for a donut go to this shop. Of course I had a huge craving for donuts and since I'm looking to try different bakeries in the area, I used Yelp to help me find something near my house. I have driven passed the store for years but never even looked at that corner. The store is rather small, it has a couple of tables but beyond that its the register and enough space to order then leave. I purchased a chocolate cake glazed and strawberry filled. I was kind of disappointed in the chocolate cake glazed, I was expecting more glaze on the donut. It seemed like they were running out and put just enough on to get by. The strawberry filled donut was fantastic, the strawberry filling had a great taste. I saw that they had a fritter style donut but I didn't go for it. I do not live in the area or even the state. My first attempt to visit they were not open (Note: They are closed on Monday's) so I ended up at another donut shop. My second attempt I was finally able to get donuts. I was greeted immediately, and the smell of fresh donuts and pastries hits you and you will want to get one of everything. I will say there customer area is a bit small so more than 3 customers it gets cozy. I was buying for a supplier and the feedback from others was they were Delicious! Very rich and decadent, soft and fresh. I think Knapp's has them beat but this is closer to the facility and the donuts are good. read more

Yesterday's got off work at 4am and I craved homemade donuts. You know the kind you get at a donut shop. Not the kind you get at your local Tim Hortons. I usually go to the Donut Station in New Baltimore since its closest to work but they are closed on Mondays. I remembered there was a donut shop about a mile from my house and that's when I headed to Willies Donuts. One of the best parts about Willie's is that they open at 4am. Perfect time to kick my donut craving! I was greeted immediately, as soon as I opened the door. The smell of fresh donuts and pastries hits you instantly and then you're debating how many donuts you're really going to get since everything looks and smells so good. They didn't have the whole case ready yet, after all it was only 4:10 and I didn't expect them too! They did have quite the selection for only being open for 10 minutes though! I opted for two glazed, two chocolate glazed and two Boston cream. 6 donuts for $5.14. I paid in cash. Not sure if they accept credit cards or not. Delicious! Very rich and decadent, soft and fresh. I especially loved that the Boston cream donut had cream in the whole donut. Not just one side. The donut could have had more icing on top but no complaints. Actual rating is 4.5 / 5 Ahhh , here I go again trying to give the skinny on what this big ol' fat guy eats (cuz ya should never trust a skinny cook .. ) For a while I've been wanting a good donut and not those flavorless gut bombs that are mass produced and frozen until they hit the sales case like you find in these coffee pedaling establishments, not to mention any names. We see what yer Dunking over there you Tammy Ho Stargut , no no ain't gonna mention those places at all First thing you'll notice is the warm smell of freshly created on site donuts . best way to describe it is that gently heated oil smell you find at a cider mill in the fall and ya have to wait like foR-EV--Errrr just to get through the line and grab a cinnamon sugar donut . But here at Willie's you have much more and much better to shoose from than "with or with out sugar" A quick run down of the samples I grabbed , fan favorites around my house to get an idea if I'd be back or not so ... Strawberry Bismark aka jelly filled : filled just right. Not oozing out the sides when you pick it up but enough jelly to last to the final bite (and I'm not usually a fan of these but even this Bismark brought a smile to my face) Next I tried a cake style Apple something. Forgive me if not remembering names properly it's early n I just ate a pile of dounts and trying to get out this review before slipping into my sugar coma. .. Oh yeah , Apple thingy was good, not over powered with artificial apple flavor or glaze, the fritter was the same way not too much but not too little on the apple stuff and that gentle crisp when I first ripped a piece off was Oh, so nice! My all time favorite and measuring stick for donuts is the classic cinnamon roll. For a long time now I've had to resort to the frozen cinna-tube things which they do in a pinch but nothing compares to a fresh one just out of the fryer. While they were pretty as a picture I felt they were a tiny bit short, maybe I'm too used to the ones at the grocery store or something but... These were awesome as far as flavor though, not drowned in sugary glaze to where it makes things you haven't even picked up yet stick to the table but I'm so glad I grabbed 4 of these. The only thing I can say was a Con to Willie's is with only 3 customers inside the lobby it felt a tiny bit close quarters . Definitly be going back after I recover from this sugar coma. This place was packed and very busy as I came on a Saturday morning. I got excited that it was so popular. I ordered about 6 regular donuts and then 2 specialty ones with cream and strawberries and a cannoli one. The specialty donuts were pretty good and had to be eaten within and hour, which was no problem at all. The other donuts were kind of dry and not good and I've had much much better. So we have been looking for a real donut shop and we found Wiilie's. We stopped in on a Sunday around noon. We have three boys who love donuts with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. My husband went down to get some donuts, and although there were a few different types of donuts, none fit the boys' preference. The lady behind the counter was sweet enough to take some donuts to the back and put chocolate and sprinkles on them. The owner walked in shortly after, seeing what was done to accommodate us, and upon her knowing it was our first time in, she welcomed my husband and even threw in some free cupcakes for the boys. Willies donuts are honestly the greatest. I take my sons in to get a donut before school and they have a great time and have fun talking to everyone. We love what we call the "stick donuts" with butttercream. The donuts are always fresh and home made. You can't get the same quality from "fast food" or "chain" donut shops which are made from mixes and likely have preservatives and questionable ingredients. I love Willies donuts. My favorites are the fritters: apple and strawberry, Tiger tails which are a Mashup of a yeast and chocolate cake donut twisted together and end up about a foot long, and finally if you are lucky the maple bacon donut with candied almonds. The owners have only been friendly every time I have been there and have offered that if my kids did a donut theme drawing and brought it in they could get any donut they want. If that is not personal IDK what is. Try these donuts!! We purchase our donuts at Willie's because they are definitely worth the drive and expense. They are the old fashioned style, not cookie cutter donuts. They are huge, sweet, and tasty. It's family owned and operated. They are family oriented too. They have school kid's drawings on the walls and if you are a regular you can leave your coffee cup hanging on the wall for your next refill. Perry and Lori are great folks and welcome all. Stopped in here for my first time today to buy some doughnuts for my staff. I was greeted by an older man who I am assuming is the owner. He offered me coffee and when I declined and said that I was only here for a dozen doughnuts, he said someone will be with you and went back to talking to another customer (my offering to help me or get someone). Then a minute or two later when no one had come out, he went into the back and said to one of his staff "There is a guy wanting to buy doughnuts out there and he looks pushy." He actually said that, although I'm assuming he thinks no one heard him.
