Living in New Orleans for a few years, I can tell you that The Big Easy does not take their tiki bar game lightly and I've had my fair share of adventures. Although the exterior of the building might be misleading, you can expect a world of Polynesian delight and flavors that will leave your taste buds tingling. A dimly lit environment carefully decorated to theme, shows the intentionality behind The Tiki Room El Paso. I had been to their original location by the courthouse and this is a true 2.0 rebirth of the establishment. Now my fave thing to do at any spot is to ideally sit at the bar to get the full experience. What really stood out to me was the level of commercial kitchen equipment that ensured the kitchen smells and smoke didn't take over the place. It's all in the details. The staff here is super fun and engaging which made it all the better. My friend and I were served by Adam and their service with the food and drink program made it all the five-star experience one hopes to receive. If you're getting a drink or served by Adam then you're in for a delight. I had a zombie drink and the flavors were so well mixed that it was easy to forget how liquored up they were. This drink has a two drink maximum and lemme tell you, later that night it was clear why that is lol. I definitely had a good buzz flowing. My favorite part was the serving presentation which had the cinnamon sparks and flicks of fire. My friend was hungry and kept raving about the pork belly bowl and damn was she right. The pork belly was crispy and juicy with each bite. You can respect the aroma and fresh ingredients including green onions, pineapple, jalapenos, and fried garlic. You have to order one (maybe two) for the table. Take a look around and enjoy the vibes. It's an absolute must.

On this particular day we visited when the kitchen was closed so we had to focus on a liquid appetizer to say. This establishment has you feeling like you've been transported to another city and it really feels like a mini vacation spot. The drink menu is something to admire as they were really thought out and well curated. It was in all the details from presentation to garnishes. I ordered "La Sirena" and it came in the cutest mug w a mermaid tail. Then a margarita martini (SOO good). I started with the Tiradito and Aguachile appetizers. Both FRESH and very flavorful. I enjoyed the spice my one the most. From there moved on to the fish tacos and the potatoe fingerlings side. Can I just say WOW ! The fish was fresh and not frozen. I was actually impressed with the quality . Only two come per order but pretty filling. I don't even like potatoes or fries but however the chef seasoned them and prepared the green sauce on the bottom was perfection! The service was amazing especially from Eddie the bar manager - he was engaging and knowledgeable of mixology. Truly put love into all of our drinks. Highly recommend. It's an upscale spot that's a must try!!

Cocktails are uniquely crafted, the ambiance pulls you right in and the bar is probably the best place to be! It's very clean as well! I really wanted to give this place a four star. And to be fair, my wife ordered the tacos and she…read moresaid they were really good. Also, our server was awesome! If I were going off just that, I would give this place a four star, maybe five. First, the restaurant. We went there for lunch and as we pulled into the parking lot we wondered if it was even open as there were no cars there. Nevertheless, we got out and, yes, they were open. As soon as you walk in you notice the place is big and dark. Dark tinted winders, black ceilings and just not very inviting. It was super dark. Giant bar though. We asked to sit outside, although slightly warm, it was better than being inside a dark room. The outside was pretty cool! Giant area capable of holding 2K people, at least that's what the sign said. The shipping containers with the airplane on top were pretty cool. With lots of outdoor games, giant stage, and screens, I can only imagine how busy this place is in the evenings or weekends. But for us, we were the only ones out there when we came. Second the food. As I mentioned my wife ordered the shrimp tacos and she said they were really good. I ordered the Jazz burger. It was just okay. The smashed patties were not season very well, or they were overpowered with the bacon jam. And the bacon on top was not cooked very well. Yes, I do like my bacon crispy so I guess I could have mentioned that. But the bacon was super soft. Not my favorite. So for me, overall the food was just ok. The one thing I found strange about the food was how unaccommodating the kitchen was. I certainly understand when kitchens don't allow substitutes but when I asked for something simple like "no bun" for the burger they apparently gave the server a tough time. So my burger came with a bun. Which isn't a big deal, just don't like to waste food. My wife asked if she could mix match the tacos (most places will allow you to do this especially when they offer more than one type of taco) again the answer was the chef didn't allow for this (chef wasn't even there at the time). Now, is this a huge deal? No, not really. But a restaurant that wants to thrive and be well known usually will accommodate requests within reason. Not sure why this kitchen was so stuck on these things. The one great thing about this place was the service, and specifically the server. He really did do an amazing job even though he might have been the only one there besides whoever was in the kitchen. He was super friendly, checked on us, and even took time to just chat a little bit. He really made this experience as good as it was. What a great server/bartender. All in all, this might be a one and done for me. Off to the next. Cheers.
