Visiting El Paso from California and I have been looking for more casual dining experience with…read moregood food. This place was perfect! This restaurant is very unassuming and a hidden gem that is located in a strip mall. From the exterior, it's hard to know what to expect but when you walk in the restaurant, it's got a good ambience to it. It could make for a romantic date night, dinner or more casual dining experience at the bar, Overall it was a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. They offer booth seating, romantic table seating for two or more and seating at the bar. The hostess and the servers were very attentive. We received excellent service from the bar as well. The drink that I chose was a Side Car and coming from LA, we have great Mixology, but I have to say that this drink blew me away. And could possibly be one of the best whiskey cocktails I've had in a long time! It was so well, balanced, and perfectly crafted. We ordered the mussels and the fish of the day which was the trout in a lemon wine caper sauce. Both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we ordered both the chocolate mousse and the crème brûlée. I did not try the chocolate mousse, but my daughter said it was amazing. The crème brûlée was also perfectly made. The server, Bruléd at the table and that was a nice touch. I have had a lot of crème brûlée desserts and have my top five and I have to say this was probably on the list. So happy that we stumbled upon this place and I will probably be visiting one more time before I go back home. I highly recommend it!

We arrived with a baby and the hostess immediately told us no high chairs. Ok no biggie yet my…read morewife pointed out that they do have changing stations for babies in the restroom which is odd. Expectations and reality were nothing alike. As we were seated our waiter took 10 min to great us and then another 12 min to bring our drinks. I didn't think anything of it yet it was a precursor to the rest of our dinner. After he took our order our kids food came out in a very timely fashion but our two orders of salmon and one steak sandwich took 40 min to arrive at the table. What a ridiculous waste of my time because my sandwich was missing the fries ordered and our waiter thought nothing of it till I brought it up then he took another 10 min to bring my fries. All this while simultaneously forgetting the sauce for the salmon which also took another 10 min to bring out. The salmon was so dry it was tacky and stuck to your teeth. If you know the feeling you know it's bad. The rice that came underneath the salmon was crunchy and way undercooked. All while the waiter was like oh I can bring you free deserts for your wait all while I could only think about how I just wanted to leave. I was internally livid and exhausted but kept it to my self after seeing the owner or manager who we the guy with the white hair over at the bar enjoying a few alcoholic beverages meanwhile his restaurants service and waitstaff to the worst possible job they can. I saw the people who got the most attention and good service were all regulars sitting at the bar laughing it up with the manager/owner older guy. Why not make sure your restaurant is running smoothly and food is being delivered and prepared properly and stop trying to impress the regulars who most likely will show up either way. Any restaurant that is this unorganized and unmotivated is due to crappy management. All this and the waiter is like I'll comp you for the steak sandwich with a discount for the bad service and salmon which was a whopping $5. I don't want a discount I don't want free day old desserts I want good service and decent food. Discounts and free desserts will never fix the problem because it will always be a crutch for trashy customer service. How about stop drinking with the guests and whoop that staff into semi decent shape buy some high chairs and make sure your expo does a once over quality check on the food and time it takes to get to the table EVEN if that means stepping in and doing it yourself. The restaurant is dark the tables are sticky the whole place is very compact . Perfect and quite attractive after 5-6 wines for sure. I'm sure the food is outstanding after a few drinks as well . They gave us a $25 dollar gift card to return which if I could I'd give to the owner so he could experience the same horrible food and service we did. I wouldn't even give the gift card to someone I hated. This was one of the first times in a long time I didn't just let it slide because I understand all restaurants and people have bad days but this was exceptionally bad. If you are thinking it can't be that bad think again it absolutely can. The whole "I'm sorry we usually have awesome service and everyone loves our food it's probably just me and my family " is laughable . This isn't my first time here while visiting El Paso. The food is getting worse.

Warning, their red salsa is the warmer of the two. If you can't handle heat, you may want to skip that one. They have live music quite often and have a nice stage and sound system. It was about 1pm, on a Tuesday, and it wasn't crowded at all. I am glad my birthday landed on a Tuesday since they had a taco-tuesday special. There is plenty of seating here, and two bars. The waitress Nicole was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered their shrimp tacos along with their fish tacos. The were delicious! I love the toppings they add to their tacos (varies on the type of taco), it gives it a crunch even though they are corned soft shelled. The shrimp taco had bacon crumbles on it, which I found unique but it worked together really well. They have several selections of tacos, and will customize them if need be. On a Tuesday their tacos are only $2.00 and thats for every taco that they offer! They are usually $3.99 each which still isn't too bad for them. As for drinks, I ordered the Coronita (margarita with corona). It was made just right. For happy hour they have margaritas for $2.50 and you can add extra shots for only $2.00. Happy hour is the best time to come cause you'll save a lot and leave satisfied. I love their music selection, and the ambiance looks like it would be fun to bring a bunch of people and mingle. This was an all around great experience. I would say maybe the only room for improvement would be the guacamole and salsa, didn't have much flavor but their chips were on point! I'll definitely be back!

1 Star Very…read moredisappointing experience at Cabo Joe's in El Paso. We waited about 30 minutes just to get our check. When the waitress finally came, I told her I would be paying partly in cash and partly by card. I gave her the cash first, but when I tried to pay the remainder with my card, their system wouldn't allow the card to be swiped. I told the waitress to give me a moment so I could get the rest of the money in cash. Instead of staying or coming back shortly after, she left us waiting again. At that point, I had already been waiting an unreasonable amount of time, so I decided to leave the remaining cash on the table and walk out. As my girlfriend and I were walking toward the exit, the waitress rushed after us and told me I had to come back to the table to make sure I had paid the tab. I explained that I had left the remaining cash on the table. She still made me walk back, counted the money, and then said, "Sorry, I had to make sure you didn't walk out." I understand that employees need to make sure tabs are paid, but the way this was handled was extremely unprofessional. We were left waiting for 30 minutes when we were ready to pay, then left waiting again when the card didn't work. Yet the moment she thought we might have left without paying, she immediately rushed after us. Being made to walk back to the table and essentially being treated as though I was trying to leave without paying was embarrassing and frustrating--especially when I had already made an effort to pay and had left the remaining cash on the table. I'm not upset that she wanted to verify the payment. It was the way she handled the entire situation and the way she spoke to us that was the problem. Very poor customer service, and unfortunately I won't be returning.

Then about 8 minutes later one of the girls came out, took off her apron and walked past us and never said anything. Then the other girl came out and helped another guy and ignored us again! For the third time!! We were ready to drink, so we sat there another 8-10 minutes and then finally walked out. Hear me, as I am an elite yelper, and they have for eleven years appreciated my input , but I cannot in any way give you but one star for our experience today. I hope that any potential patron reads this and chooses not to waste their time or money with your business. Perhaps some solid customer service training would help.

We accidentally found El Barco Marinero after attending an event nearby. My daughter was hungry, so we looked around for somewhere she could get carne asada and decided to give this place a try after seeing the great reviews. I'm so glad we did! It's a huge restaurant and you can tell it's family-owned and run. There were family and kids in the corner doing homework on their computers, which I thought was so sweet. Before we even ordered, they brought us complimentary ceviche with chips AND soup. Both were delicious and tasted incredibly fresh. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and my daughter got the carne asada tacos. The portions were VERY generous, especially for the prices. The fish tacos were fresh, crispy and loaded, but the carne asada really surprised me. It was tender, flavorful and honestly some of the best carne asada I've had. The service was also wonderful. I was already pretty full, so they happily boxed everything up for us to take home. I was genuinely surprised to see the restaurant so quiet on a Sunday because the food, portions, prices and service were all excellent. Definitely one of those tucked-away El Paso restaurants I'm really happy we stumbled across. We'll be back! El Barco Marinero 1212 N Yarbrough Dr Ste 307 El Paso, TX 79925

It's a fun and classy speakeasy inside of Tin Man on George Dieter. They keep their location hidden on social media...I guess because it's a speakeasy? I think the concept is cute and fun. I almost felt like I wasn't in El Paso anymore! They have cute Japanese knick knacks and decor. There's only two tables and a small bar area. This is probably why it's hard to get a reservation. You can make a reservation by messaging them on Facebook or Instagram. If they don't get back to you, give them a call at Tin Man. They're open Thursday-Saturday from 7pm to 2 am and Sundays from 2-9 pm. Before Origami Sake Bar, I've only had sake a couple of times straight and...it was super strong. It almost knocked me out of my seat! This is coming from a lady who could drink Tequila like water. Those days are long gone btw. However, this sake bar changed those previous experiences for me. Why? Because they offer a combination of sweet and strong drinks. I had to have a sweet drink so I went with the Grogu. Forgive me, I can't remember what exactly was in it. If you like boba tea, this is the drink for you. It had a lot of boba balls in it. The Yoda stein holds a lot of drink and it stays cold. I was good with just this one drink. FYI: The drinks are not happy hour prices. My tab was $17 and change for one drink. I almost asked for a growler of Sangria from Tin Man instead. I'm not saying the drink was bad because it wasn't. I'm sure I was paying for the novelty of the stein and bar. The place doesn't offer any food. You can eat before or after...or bring your own. It would be cool if they offered Japanese snacks or cheese boards, something. Tin Man doesn't offer food so I guess it's the same here. Thank you for recommending Origami Sake Bar, Jenny L.! Thank you for also inviting me! :) Check it out if you get a chance.

It was a bit difficult to get an RSVP, I messaged them thru their FB page, but they didn't respond so I ended up calling the location which was Tin Man and they got me connected to RSVP. After that they were super responsive and gracious. We ended up having 8 ladies show up but at different times and they were nice enough to let us stay until the next reservation showed up at 10pm. We had a great time, drinks were strong and unique. Only things I would recommend to change are getting a better menu QR, it made you download the menu instead of just showing you, and not mixing the popping boba and regular boba in the drinks as it's a HUGE choking hazard, especially when drinking alcohol. I would definitely recommend this place for a cute night out or date night. They let you bring outside food in and we brought Riva's carne asada fries and nachos.
