I read the reviews which said that this was a good place to watch a game and the scenery (female) was pretty good too. I had never been here, so today I decided to check it out for lunch. Glad I only spent $14. I will never be back. It's been a LONG time (actually probably NEVER) when I've encountered a wait staff person who came off as arrogant as the bartender at Cabo Joe's today. I don't drink, so I ordered a lemonade, and I asked her to water it down, "because they are usually way too sweet." She did. It was all downhill from there. It really gets me that some establishments whose income is based primarily on alcohol consumption treat a non-drinker as some kind of alien, and the only thing I can figure out is, that's exactly what happened to me today. I know the bartender's name because it's on my receipt. I'm not going to mention that, because it's not my intention to infringe on anyone's career. But if I would have to describe her attitude in one word, it would be "SNOTTY". She never smiled one time. I ordered two fish tacos. When she brought them I said, "thanks". She never said one word, as if it was a chore for her to deliver my order. She didn't even bring me a fork until I asked her for one. Everyone knows how messy tacos are......what was I supposed to do, grab the spilled ingredients with my fingers? I will say that the fish tacos were pretty good. $4.95 each, so $9.90 for two, plus a lemonade, plus tax = $13.98. I was done pretty quickly because I just wanted to get out of there. She was about 20 feet away, chatting with other patrons. She never checked to see how my food was. I had pushed the plate over to the bar and left a $20 next to it, but she never got the hint. I had to wave the $20 at her to get her attention. She gave me six "ones" as change, obviously expecting a tip. She didn't get one. Again, she never said one word to me, not even a thank you, and never smiled one time. WHAT a welcoming atmosphere. In closing, apparently some female bartenders with beautiful long brown/blonde hair down to their butt who are wearing a very revealing bikini bottom are convinced that their you-know-what just does not stink, and they are doing a man a favor by waiting on him. That's sure the way it seemed to me. Add to all that, it was 2:00 PM on a Wednesday. NOT BUSY. Football season is right around the corner, and I'm a big 49ers fan. So, which was it, not on GH (despite driver showing there u r on GH), item was out, you didn't bother making my order, or you're closed for GH? Well, if you want to watch sports and have a beer at the 2 bars I'd give it 5 stars cus there's TVs up the wazoo all around and it's a big place. Our issues were several as the Pina Collada type drinks tasted odd and they have no blender so were on the rocks. I guess the manager saw my reaction and offered a diff drink so I ordered a strawberry margarita, and that tasted like frozen salt along with another odd taste... I ordered the Philly Cheese steak which was good but the fries were seasoned way too salty and inedible. My wife ordered taquitos which were average but the side rice wasn't cooked enough and was tough. They should drop the bikini up the bunns waitress outfits and coach the cooks & bartenders cus the place is a great sports bar otherwise. I'd rather pay a couple bucks more for a good classic drink than the mystery potion we drank. The staff was friendly and the manager did check with us twice doing his job very well. read more

Come here for beers only but opt out of the Mexican seafood. My experience went from GREAT to bad in this descending order. 1. Great views! 2. The place was packed for a UFC fight night. The waitress/service was great even though. I wish they had more of a selection with their seafood boils such as headless shrimp or crawfish but it's not too bad. The prices were reasonable. Also the gin selection needed work but they do carry a good selection of domestic beers. They have multiple tv's so you never miss any action when it's fight nights. Will frequent soon. read more

This review is going to be short, as I only went to CJ's for a beverage and to check out the scenery. I chose to sit at the bar and Bobbie was my bartender. She was very attentive and easy in the eyes. I ordered a frozen peach margarita. It was a fairly good size. Hard to to tell how much alcohol was in it, as the sweetness of it made it difficult to tell. It was good though. They have a lot of items on their menu, so hopefully I will be able to try some of their food in the future. read more

I was very satisfied with my first experience here at Cabo Joe's. I came here for lunch on my birthday to get some food and drinks. It was about 1pm, on a Tuesday, and it wasn't crowded at all. I am glad my birthday landed on a Tuesday since they had a taco-tuesday special. There is plenty of seating here, and two bars. The waitress Nicole was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered their shrimp tacos along with their fish tacos. The were delicious! I love the toppings they add to their tacos (varies on the type of taco), it gives it a crunch even though they are corned soft shelled. The shrimp taco had bacon crumbles on it, which I found unique but it worked together really well. They have several selections of tacos, and will customize them if need be. On a Tuesday their tacos are only $2.00 and thats for every taco that they offer! They are usually $3.99 each which still isn't too bad for them. As for drinks, I ordered the Coronita (margarita with corona). It was made just right. For happy hour they have margaritas for $2.50 and you can add extra shots for only $2.00. Happy hour is the best time to come cause you'll save a lot and leave satisfied. I love their music selection, and the ambiance looks like it would be fun to bring a bunch of people and mingle. This was an all around great experience. I would say maybe the only room for improvement would be the guacamole and salsa, didn't have much flavor but their chips were on point! Cabo Joe's is Sports Heaven! If you are looking for a place where scantily-clad women bring you food and beer while you watch the games, but you want to keep your money in El Paso, this is a great place to visit. The first thing I noticed and loved about Cabo Joe's was either the hostess' bikini top or the fact that the place is absolutely plastered with big Televisions, I don't remember which. They took a cue from TP and put a row of big screens above the bar, totes awesome! The food is good, they offer the standard sports grill items as well as some beach-inspired Mexican and Tex-Mex. I really like the Cubano sandwich and recommend it if you are looking for a relatively light sports meal. I like ordering Green Chile rice as my side, they have a tasty recipe. The menu is the same as the other locations. The service is good, considering how busy the place is, fast and friendly, and the girls are pretty good looking, that never hurts. Parking is ample, but gets very full. PRO TIP: Don't exit Yarbrough to get here, there's very little room from the exit, especially during heavy traffic, exit McRae instead and drive a couple of blocks on Gateway. read more

They have twelve on tap, but on the night I went, 4 of those were out - the only 4 that I had any interest in (the remainder were just your run-of-the-mill domestics and a cider). One of the bartenders explained that the weekend had been busy because of a UFC fight, but...if a bar is your business, shouldn't you anticipate those sorts of things? Pretty sure this wasn't the first UFC fight ever... Anyway, I ordered a canned beer. When I tried to pour it, it was frozen. I chose a bottled beer, and that finally worked. The service here is one of the worst I've ever seen. The waitress comes once every 20 minutes, be prepared to wait 39 minutes for some chips and guac. The margarita has to be shared because according to the waitress, the car said it can only be one margarita for two people. It's ridiculous. Cons: Mediocre experience. I'm from Houston so I'm spoiled with some of the best food in the world. The steak tacos were terrible. I rarely write that about food because I love food, but they were bad. The steak was dry and the flavor was mediocre. The tacos were tiny but on the plus side, the flour tortillas were delicious (by far the best part of the steak tacos). Also, the tacos were nothing more than meat and onions. Weakest tacos ever. As far as value is concerned, you don't get what you pay for (on the steak tacos at least). Whenever we come here for lunch or dinner, I get the tortilla soup. Fills me up! Tacos are great here too. The theme is a beach, surfer, Hispanic feel. Idk, but I missed the beach. This place is ok. If you are in to the sports bar scene you will have no problem. To be honest I am not too fond of the theme of these type of places. They usually start you with a basket of tostadas before they take your order. I ordered the Hambino, which includes ham, bacon, cabbage, carnitas, and cheese. I thought that burger was a little messy but it was pretty good. The side of fries were not that great. They put way too much seasoning on them and they taste too salty and have too much of a lime flavor. I did order a lime-arita which was the highlight of my visit. Visited Cabo's for the first time and not impressed. I like to support local businesses but this was disappointing and will not return. Place was extremely loud and could not hold a conversation with family. Very short menu and not a good value. Both my wife and I ordered tacos and daughter ordered wings. While food was decent at best, serving size of all dishes were small. They were more like appetizers plus the price was too high for the serving size. I've had better at mom and pop restaurants. Not gonna lie I only came to this location because of the drinking experience. I wanted to take my sister out for her bday and i knew this place was a little upbeat with a large drink selection. Even the margaritas were needed that day for an extensive selection for my sister to enjoy. I have never liked the food from Cabo Joe's starting from the now closed Mesa location. The service was great here and our server was very playful and suggestive when it came to ordering drinks for the bday girl. She catered to our interests and likes and even told us she never drank any of the drinks we ordered but she knew they are fun for a group. I just came in to make a to go order and the girls were only worried about having a side bar conversation and did not even pay attention to what I wanted to order! I didn't even finish my order before the girl walked away. Completely rude and I hate to say that I am very disappointed in the new staff. They water down their liquor there are bugs in the bottle. The only way that happens is by adding water to the bottles.

The service was almost non existent, too many tostadas to the guacamole ratio, and when the nachos came out, it was just a huge pile of tostadas with almost no cheese. read more
