Saw the reviews, had to check it out. BBQ truck set up, nice smoke smell emanating. Got the pulled pork sandwich and 3 rib order. Generous pile of pulled pork, very tasty, not fatty. Ribs had a nice smoked flavor, tender and delicious. Only wish they had their picnic tables out, great view of the valley and mountains in the distance....but alas Covid restrictions, so folks just ate on their tailgate.

Great lunch or dinner if you are going through Benson. Benson Bomb with pulled pork and fresh coleslaw was 5 star! The beer battered onion rings were incredibly delicious! Only suggestion might be umbrella for shade at the picnic table.

Driving in Vermont surrounded by hills, valleys and beautiful sceneries. We pass Willie's BBQ and of course, as a carnivore I make an U-turn. Nice place with a big BBQ unit. Ordered slab of ribs, brisket sandwich, and. a Mac & cheese with pulled pork. Well I can say the brisket sandwich was spot on very good flavor, very moist. The ribs; wonderful good color, very, very moist with a lot of flavor, when eating dip the rib in the sauce it would be a shame to throw out the sauce. Mac & Cheese is not my thing but surprisingly good, the pork makes the dish. Willie's is doing a great job! So if you ever on RT 22A stop and enjoy your BBQ. Keep it up Willie's will be back if I'm near RT22A

Ribs - sooo good...fell right off the bone!

Every single dish we had was incredible. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone perfection. Shrimp and grits? Rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. And the meat loaf? Honestly over the top--I'm still thinking about it. The place is only open a few days a week and the menu changes weekly, so definitely make a reservation in advance. Can't wait to go back.

Parking lot has limited space but told that you can park around the vicinity of the resturant: the village market, the hardware store or the Clerk's office in the back are all good parking. Saturday night in June, a rainy day, the resturant is not as full as excepted. We arrived at 6:50 and our table was ready for us. For our appetizer, we ordered the salmon patties, Mac and cheese, and the tuna ahi. Salmon patties were salty. The tuna ahi were good. Mac and cheese was the highlight. It was creamy and not salty. For our main entrees, very dish have the same sauces, veal demi glace, the brown sauce on the satueed beef, the pork chops, and the meatloaf. All taste the same. For my dish, the scallops were super salty. $30 I have to share them with my family. The best was the grilled pork chops. Cooked perfectly and very moist. While I fell for the concept of the restaurant, farm to table, the food was really just ok. For the price point, my hopes were up for better tasty food. Service was good but food was just ok.

But there it is, as we were surprised to learn when we stopped by on a recent drive through Vermont. For folks like us who grew up in South Carolina and Georgia, Pearl's menu is home cooking, and pretty tasty, as it turned out. Not that everything worked, but we really enjoyed our dining here, will come back, and want to tell a bit about our experience. While there are some menu items that are generalized, the focus is clearly on the South. We were treated to cornbread first on the table -- delicious -- and then went after appetizers starting with biscuits, which were flaky, soft, cooked just right and perfectly served with both peach butter and gravy. And then the okra pickles (yes, no kidding) were crunchy and tangy. There was a couple at an adjoining table who looked at that last dish as if it was some kind of living alien. We tried to explain. The deviled eggs were first-rate: just a squidge of heat and fine flavor. We ordered the country fried steak, pretty good though just a little bit tough underneath mouth-watering gravy. The shrimp and grits was appealing in part because it's so hard to find grits properly cooked anywhere in New England, and the shrimp (4) were very large but not quite as tender as we would have hoped. A good dish, but not a great one. We ended the meal happy and filled. But... Pearl's is not a cheap trip. The shrimp and grits were $36, the country steak $32. The biscuits and biscuits were $16 each. Our server was very friendly but she missed water refills, and our time between dishes seemed a little too long. It was enough to draw our comments about the wait, never a good sign. We thought the level of noise was on the high side, but that was most likely one table of four people nearby whose conversation seemed to get only higher and higher pitched. It's an attractive interior, an older home, we'd guess, with lot of room for tables. There a nice bar area with a lot of seating, a patio and fire pit, so they can fit in a lot of people in good weather. And there's a small section inside where restaurant merch and some Vermont food items like maple syrup and jams are sold. It adds up to a lot of reasons to hang around. And maybe put away another biscuit or two.

(That's not a bad thing) Ya Yas is conveniently located in downtown Schenectady near State street on an unassuming corner you would pass easily if not paying attention. No worries, though there's plenty of parking and even a parking garage next door. I went on a slow Thursday night and was met with the owner who I assume was Ya Ya herself. She immediately greeted me with the house specials along with the homemade sides. I ordered the 1/2 chicken breast, collard greens, yams and corn bread the perfect southern food combo. I'd never tried collard greens but they were tasty and felt like a cross between spinach and Brussels sprouts. The bill was reasonable at $18 with plenty of food so you definitely won't go home hungry when leaving Ya Yas. The space is large and spacious. We went for brunch and it appeared to be family friendly. It's a nice place to go after church or to catch up yet you can still have an afternoon cocktail. I ordered the biscuit and gravy and my friend had shrimp and grits. In addtion we had beignets and candied bacon for the table. The beignets are not New Orleans good but would never expect anything this good in Albany. My biscuit and gravy were good. The gravy was savory and the biscuit tasted homemade. It was a little to thick for the amount of gravy. However I would love to try the biscuit by itself with another entrée. The shrimp and grits are not Southern style they are New Orleans style. My friend felt they were ok. Now the candied bacon was a hard NO. It was heavily salted. You could not eat do to the level of salt. I am not sure if this was a fluck or how it's prepared. Unfortunately we returned to the kitchen and I never return anything even if I don't like it. However, our server Alexa was very helpful and provided overall good service.
