my husband and I both know how to cook! Once in a while, we'd like to have a take out and the honest to God truth is the only place that him and I will go and get takeout food at is willies BBQ. I'm sure everyone once in a while has gone somewheres and gotten some food and thought to themselves I can't believe I just paid for that....... Saw the reviews, had to check it out. BBQ truck set up, nice smoke smell emanating. Got the pulled pork sandwich and 3 rib order. Generous pile of pulled pork, very tasty, not fatty. Ribs had a nice smoked flavor, tender and delicious. Only wish they had their picnic tables out, great view of the valley and mountains in the distance....but alas Covid restrictions, so folks just ate on their tailgate. read more

Driving across Vermont for some foliage my girlfriend and I stumbled upon Willie's BBQ. Confused, as it's a truck in the middle of nowhere with a few picnic tables, we blew past it, before immediately turning around. Thank god we did!!!!!! Willie's is amazing - the ribs are the best I have ever had, the coleslaw was fantastic, the pulled pork is to die for, and the jalapeno poppers were so well-made and lovely. STOP HERE! Great lunch or dinner if you are going through Benson. Benson Bomb with pulled pork and fresh coleslaw was 5 star! The beer battered onion rings were incredibly delicious! Only suggestion might be umbrella for shade at the picnic table. read more

Enjoyed our first visit to Willie's BBQ. We've been driving past for years and finally stopped. The meat is tasty, the server was very nice, and the view of the fields and mountains are spectacular. I recommend anybody driving this route plan on making the stop here rather than fast food along the way. We were planning on paying with cash so it wasn't a problem, but I think they might be "cash only." read more

Driving in Vermont surrounded by hills, valleys and beautiful sceneries. We pass Willie's BBQ and of course, as a carnivore I make an U-turn. Nice place with a big BBQ unit. Ordered slab of ribs, brisket sandwich, and. a Mac & cheese with pulled pork. Well I can say the brisket sandwich was spot on very good flavor, very moist. The ribs; wonderful good color, very, very moist with a lot of flavor, when eating dip the rib in the sauce it would be a shame to throw out the sauce. Mac & Cheese is not my thing but surprisingly good, the pork makes the dish. Willie's is doing a great job! So if you ever on RT 22A stop and enjoy your BBQ. Driving up 22A on our way to Stowe we passed this BBQ joint on a cold rainy Saturday. As we passed my husband kept saying "I want BBQ", so we turned around. WHAT AN AMAZING IDEA!! Willie's BBQ is FREAKIN AWESOME!!! You MUST stop. We got him on his first day open for the season. A blessing. Had the pulled pork sandwich. Yummy. We are dreaming about it. Juicy, tender, delicious and did I mention juicy? Oh my heavens. A perfect sandwich. This is a small little food truck in front of his house. DO NOT MISS IT. We were on our way to Burlington VT doing local roads from 87 up and gave up trying to a find a spot for lunch. Then we saw Willies smoker and new we had to stop and try it. We ordered pulled pork, ribs and brisket. If you like a vinegar based sauce and your barbecue moist instead of dry you will love Willies. Best pulled pork we have ever had and the ribs were scrumptious. Brisket was excellent. We are from New Jersey,but, watch a lot of triple d and check out a lot of barbecue in our travels and we hope Guy Fieri puts Willie on his show. Thank you Willie. read more

Girlfriend and I stopped here while on a road trip after driving by. Ordered half pound pulled pork and hog wings (pork short rib fried like a chicken wing). Liked the hog wings a lot, but pulled pork lacked good, strong flavor I'm used to in BBQ in Texas and the Carolinas. Would recommend this place, but it's definitely not authentic Southern BBQ. read more

Drove past this spot on my way back to NYC from Burlington, VT. The brisket and pulled pork were great but the ribs were AMAZING. Possibly the best I've ever had. Homemade barbecue in Benson was a nice surprise. Willie and his very polite young son were there to serve us both chicken and beef brisket barbecue. Each was beautifully flavored and we ate it at his roadside picnic table. Very fairly priced, particularly when you think of the hours of preparation in his smoker. My only suggestion is to put out a large folding sign perhaps a quarter mile in either direction to get you ready to stop. Then Willie will also need a couple more picnic tables. read more

I'm no expert when it comes to BBQ, but I know what I like and Wiiie's BBQ is some damn fine eaten'! We got the pulled pork sandwich ($8) and it mustve weighed close to a pound. We got it with the sauce, but I think I would get it without the sauce in the future and put it on myself. It wasn't overly spicy either which is my preference. My wife had the same thing and thought it was excellent and thought the amount of sauce was great. Different strokes.... Next trip we're going to try the brisket. read more

I'm going to have to disagree with Matthew Z! I was raised in GA (25 years) and then SC (6 years) and all my family is still there (almost 50 y.o. now). That means: I've had a lot of fine southern BBQ in my lifetime and am kind of a BBQ snob. I'm also particularly skeptical when NE restaurants claim to offer southern-style BBQ. Let me tell you something: This is as good as, if not better than, any of the Southern BBQ I've ever had--definitely stop in and try it. Make a special trip even--we do! You won't regret it.
