We chose McDaniel's because we prefer to support local when possible, and we felt we would receive more personal and professional care from them than from a big box store. Nicole R. (our designer, who was more of a salesperson than a designer) was a total disappointment. Her communication skills were almost non-existent. We were often waiting days to weeks (even with reminders) for her to return a call or an email. When she chose to communicate, she was abrupt, condescending, scattered in her thoughts, and made promises to appease us, but later nothing came of her promises. It is now April and the project is still not completed. We had to pay $100 before McDaniel's would measure the area. Nicole did not accurately measure the height of the vanity and the length and height of the side-splash resulting in me either not using the side-splash or paying to have the new drywall cut into in order to move the electrical up. On February 5th I sent Nicole a picture of the error and she said she "would be out ASAP." Later that day she emailed that she would be out March 9th. Upon sharing my concerns about the length of the side splash Nicole explained that it was customary to measure the side splash longer than needed and the construction people would cut or grind it to the correct size. I cannot imagine all contractors have the tools to do this. As far as the electrical outlet placement and the height of the side splash is concerned Nicole agreed it was not acceptable and offered cutting it to 1" in height. I told her that was not acceptable and that I wanted the electrical moved up. She agreed if it was her house that is what she would want done and said she would immediately get with their construction person. Not ours, theirs, since it was her mistake. I waited another three weeks and two days to be contacted by him, all the while reminding Nicole every week that we needed closure. On March 24th Eric from Granite Construction called. He said he would have someone out that afternoon and was going to email me a work order for my signature. I waited approximately 30 minutes but rather than the work order I received the name of an electrician and told that I would have to pay for the repair. In total frustration I contacted the owner/manager of McDaniels, Don Jessup. He said he agreed with some of my points (many are not mentioned here) but since we used our own contractors, McDaniel's is not accountable. (Their contractors wanted $16,332 for a small, typical bathroom.). He offered to refund the side splash and six vanity handles (that I paid $90 for but never ordered), but since then he has chosen not to answer my emails about how I need to go about the return, paperwork, etc. At this point I feel I have given McDaniel's every opportunity to make things right before posting this review. I am hoping to save others the unprofessionalism and lack of respect I received. As of April 6th (today) I have not received any communication from Nicole regarding whether the electrical problem has been resolved, asking me if I was pleased with how the bathroom turned out, or thanking me for my business. Nothing from Don Jessup either.

I know of several other unhappy customers so do your homework before hiring these con artist. Mike charged us for a mid priced remodel but used the cheapest Home Depot fixtures. We expected quality craftsmanship and what we got was a lot diy corner cutting. I've worked with many contractors and service people .... working with Dreammakers Bath and Kitchen of Lansing/ Mike Fischer Builders was hands down the worse experience of my life. To date, we've spent over $20k fixing his shoddy work and I'd say we'll need to spend another $40k getting everything to code. So disappointing! And this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding our experience. During mediation, we had to hire experts to assess the flooring. His expert agreed with our expert that it was an installation fail and Mike still refused to make it right. We had to spend thousands on lawyers fees to get him to do the right thing. Now we have to spend thousands more repairing our home. Our master bathroom has to be gutted because it wasn't sealed properly. Our tub doesn't work because it was not installed properly. Over 2000 square feet of expensive eucalyptus flooring has to be removed because it was not acclimated or installed properly and the warranty is void because of his negligence. He didn't finish the hvac. We found ducts that were not closed off during our hvac reconstruction, essentially we were heating the walls and basement ceiling. He left holes in our basement where they removed plumbing. There were tiling issues, pencil marks on walls, incorrect countertops installed, dented cabinets that they refaced with cheap plywood. We gave Mike close to a year to rectify before we filed suit against him. Update #1: recently, we discovered water coming through our ceiling from our attic. We had a specialist go into the attic to see why or if we had a roof leak. Nope!!! Mike Fischer had vented our exhaust fans from our bathroom directly into the attic, not venting it through the roof and out of the house. As result, it created damage to our attic and roof. Another $30,000 repair due to mikes complete negligence and incompetence. Please please do yourself, your home, and your money a favor and don't hire these scammers.

This Target is a mini store but has pretty much anything a college student needs - snacks, beverages, apparel, toiletry items, household stuff, things for your dorm, etc. Nate and I stopped in while in town over the summer and grabbed some items. I loved the little statue of Bullseye, the Target dog, because he was wearing an MSU jersey! How adorable. They had a pretty decent selection of MSU apparel too. The self check out stations were quick and easy to use, with no lines. I don't think I'll find myself coming here often, especially since I don't live in the area, but it's definitely convenient!

Our experience with MKD Kitchen & Bath has been incredibly frustrating, particularly considering we…read morespent approximately $7,500 on our granite countertops and backsplash. Months before installation, I was actually asked to contact MKD's granite distributors myself to locate enough matching material for our kitchen. Their Detroit distributor did not have what we needed, so I contacted the Grand Rapids distributor and found three slabs from the same lot. I specifically reserved those three matching slabs, then contacted MKD and was told they would order them for our project. When the countertops arrived, the large island countertop had an entire corner smashed. From what I could see, the granite was transported sitting on the floor of the truck without any type of protective framing. MKD did send someone out to repair it. The first repair needed additional work, but after a second visit, the damage is now difficult to notice unless you know where to look. To their credit, MKD handled that situation reasonably well and refunded $800 because of the issue. Unfortunately, the backsplash has now created an even bigger problem. The backsplash was supposed to be fabricated from the same three slabs we had specifically located and reserved so that it would match our countertops. It was installed today, and one of the major sections is very clearly NOT from the matching material. The base color of the granite is completely different. This isn't a minor variation in natural stone that you have to look closely to notice. You can see the difference from across the house. After everything we went through to specifically locate and reserve three slabs from the same lot, having MKD fabricate part of the backsplash from visibly different material is unacceptable. When I contacted MKD about the problem, I was told they would "escalate my concerns to Home Depot." Home Depot did not fabricate the granite. MKD did. I'm not asking for another discount, and I'm not asking for money back. I'm asking for the product we purchased and specifically planned months in advance to receive. The mismatched section of backsplash needs to be removed and remade using the matching granite we selected and reserved. I will update this review depending on how MKD chooses to resolve the issue.
