Two stars only because we like Bernie, our sales guy. He was great…read more We ordered a dining set back in 2023. It came and we thought the color seemed off but we figured sometimes hard to gauge how a table will look based on a small sample. So we carried on. Didn't love the table but also didn't hate it. But we were very aware it didn't match our kitchen cabinets that we matched up the sample with. Fast forward to this summer when we decided to order a coffee table, an end table and entry table in the exact wood and finish as the dining table because with an open concept living concept the last thing we wanted was to to add another shade of wood to the layout. It was already off given the difference in the shade of the table vs our cabinets, which was supposed to match or at least be close. Everything was ordered to match. Yay! Then they deliver the coffee and end tables and they are the EXACT color of the original sample we used to decide on our dining table but definitely NOT the color of the dining table. We loved it but it confirmed-something/someone messed up our dining table finish. They sent out someone to take pics after we reached out.. It's obvious. After a few weeks we then hear there's nothing they can do. Sooo, they mess up, offer no explanation (or even an apology) and....that's it? Very disappointing. At the very least, own your mistake. You're better off at IKEA where you'll know the furniture matches.

As an Okemos native and firm believer in shopping local, it is unfortunate that my experience with…read morethe Pilgrim House was a bad one. I purchased a Bassett leather sofa and reclining chair as well as the extended warranty for both pieces the end of August. 2023. By May 2024 the finish on both pieces of furniture was starting to peel and a stitch coming loose on the seat of the sofa. I contacted the warranty company sending close up pictures. I was told that this was "clearly a manufacturer's defect" and to contact Pilgrim House, which I did immediately. A home visit was scheduled a few weeks later to have someone from Pilgrim House repair department view the pieces. A couple of weeks after the home visit I received a call saying they were contacting Bassett about the problem. Another 3-4 weeks later after my numerous attempts in to find out if Pilgrim House has heard anything I was told they would contact me. Finally at the end of August 2024 I received a call from the Pilgrim House repair department saying Bassett would not do anything more than send a tube of paint to color in the areas that were peeling. I then asked to speak with the owner of Pilgrim House. He returned my call me a few days later. After expressing my shock and displeasure with the proposed resolution, he told me there was nothing more he will do. I asked if he would be satisfied with that answer. I reiterated that the problem started so soon after delivery and I purchased the extended warranty, I was told by the owner in a most unprofessional way that there was nothing else he was going to do. Obviously customer satisfaction was not a priority. It took almost 2 months for Bassett to send the paint and then wait for the repair visit where the paint was applied and the loose stitch fixed. I WOULD NOT recommend Pilgrim House and DEFINITELY would not recommend buying the warranty unless you use knives and sharp tools while sitting on the furniture as that would have been covered.

Dan Williamson went out of his way to help me figure out how to replace euro hinges for our kitchen…read morecabinets that were broken. Our exact hinges are no longer manufactured and have very unique dimensions. My local handyman was at a loss for what to use to replace the broken hardware. Dan walked me step-by-step through the important measurements I needed to take to ensure that the alternative hinge options I considered would give me the most similar functionality and fit as the old hinges. This is despite the fact that I was from several states away (in Virginia) and could only ask questions through email. I would highly recommend Dan and this company for assistance with hardware for your next project. Kelly W.

On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, I researched, online, a new pool filter valve to get a feel for prices…read more Called here for availability...had to take the valve in for identification. Owner found a replacement, couldn't/wouldn't say if it was a direct replacement or a substitute, or if he could get it next day for sure, & told me $196. I showed him the picture/info I had saved from my research & asked if it was the same one...if so, I could get one online for $100. I fully expected him to knock a few bucks off the price but instead he exploded, yelling at me that I'd wasted his time & insulted him by "googling" the info right in front of him & that he had a brick & mortar store and had to make a living. He used a lot of "f**king" & "f**k" in his tirade, and told me to "get the F**k out of here and never come back." If he'd of offered me just a little off, I'd of bought from him just to have it right away. Instead, I'll never go back here again...not for a bottle of chlorine or a test strip. I've been a customer here for 5 years, buying all my supplies here. I'm really sorry I already bought 2 cases of chlorine last week here. Last year, he gouged me $80 for a pool pump basket cover that I knew I could get online for $25, but I needed it right away as grandkids were in pool when it broke, and he had one in stock...so I paid it without complaint. Incidentally, I did order the valve online, for $114 & free shipping , got it the next day and installed it. If I'd been willing to wait a week for delivery, I could have bought it for $89. (I wonder what he pays wholesale for it if I can get it for $89) From now on, I'll go online or to Menard's for my supplies. I like to support local small businesses, but I have to "make a living" too and that involves finding the best values I can on a modest fixed income. I can't afford to support local business to the tune of paying up to 300% markup. Needless to say, I've told my 3 neighbors with pools about this incident.
