space between the countertop and the wall.

Ordered replacement countertops for our kitchen; through Costco. They work with MDK Kitchen and Bath, based in Marshall, Michigan. The area representative, Mel, was amazing. He listened to our story, assessed our needs and wants, and gave us the best deal. The process went downhill after. The guy who did the measuring told us we needed to pay $550 more to complete the original estimated deal. The countertops came in pieces and were fitted after we had to buy new faucets. Gaps appeared, forcing us to pay more money to buy and install a backsplash. Better to look for better quality and service elsewhere.

    Improper sink installation

MKD is a horrible company! I went through them when I bought my sink and countertops through The Home Depot in March 2023 and they were just awful. They got the measurements right, but when it came to installation, it was so bad to the point where they had to come out a second time just to fix their stupid mistakes! Don't ever use them for any work in your home because they'll do anything to screw you over!

not very happy missed my farm house sink cut out over a 1/4 inch and my cooktop don't fit have to make saw cut's on cabinet....

    How the corner should look.

Had Solid surface countertops and matching backsplash installed. Backsplash looks bad. One corner has white. One corner has clear. I have never seen a picture where the Backsplash looks hobbled together like this. They didn't call me to tell me it was what it is. They sent an email saying my template was complete.

Faucet cocked by being too close to the sink flange

I was not told the counter would be 1/4" lower then the original, now I have a 1/2" gap from the back splash to the counter to contend with. I have no idea why it could not be installed to the original height, and I don't mean with shims! I was told to fill it with caulk. Besides this idea being ludicrous, I still have no idea how they feel the job was completed. The faucet hole was not placed where I asked it to be. I wanted it placed a 1/2" back so standard silicone splash guard didn't overhang by as much as it does, and the back was closer to the back splash. BTW... I was solicited in Costco warehouse by this MKD.

We didn't go to the store to look at the slabs and just went with our gut on what we liked from the samples.

On July 18, we went to Paxton and selected Copper Mist for our basement bar. We were given a sample to take home and received a quote totaling $984.13 using the remnant we had selected. At no point during that process were we told that we needed to place a deposit to secure the material or that the piece could be sold to someone else while we were moving forward with our project. Based on that selection, we continued planning our bar and even purchased our sink specifically to coordinate with the Copper Mist. Unfortunately, there were errors and confusion with our project information from the beginning. We returned to Paxton on August 8 and again confirmed what we had selected. We then learned that the material we had been planning our entire project around had been sold. The proposed solution was essentially for us to spend approximately $3,000 to get the material we originally expected to purchase as a remnant for a project quoted at $984.13. I understand that remnants are limited inventory. What I don't understand is why we weren't clearly told what we needed to do to secure the material, particularly when we had received a quote, taken home the sample, continued communicating with Paxton and were making other purchases based on that selection. Mistakes happen. What has made this experience so frustrating is the accumulation of mistakes, the lack of clear communication and, most importantly, the lack of ownership or a meaningful attempt to make the situation right. Three weeks later, we're now essentially starting the countertop selection process over again through no fault of our own. For a purchase like this, customers rely on the professionals they're working with to explain the process and tell them what needs to happen next. That simply did not happen in our experience.

We met our interior designer at their showroom and had our architectural plans with us, which I recommend. The process of choosing materials for your home's counter-tops, backsplashes, and other surfaces couldn't be easier. I recall them having a good amount of "stock" surfaces to choose from when we built back in 2011, but their choices have significantly expanded since then. We were able to select from a wide variety of quartz and granite at a very reasonable price point, but they have a huge selection of materials should you want something other than their stock selections. They are also happy to price out different material choices for you before you make your final choice, which makes the process that much better. Top it off with great service and professional installation and choosing Top of the World Granite becomes a no-brainer and I can recommend them without hesitation.
