They did not inform me when they came to measure my countertop that there would be a seam in it…read more They then called after 5 weeks to tell me right before they were going to cut the countertop. They installed one piece crooked, didn't cut a hole for my sprayer, didn't line up the bar for my dishwasher so that I could secure the dishwasher and they cut my sink cut out wrong and you can see the edges of the sink even though it's supposed to be under mount. . When I called them, they did send the installer out to fix some of the items and to look at the sink cut out. They are refusing to redo the sink piece and this has held up me finishing my project. I bought the countertop through Lowe's and was forced to use MKD for the install. I am so disappointed in this company.

Our experience with MKD Kitchen & Bath has been incredibly frustrating, particularly considering we…read morespent approximately $7,500 on our granite countertops and backsplash. Months before installation, I was actually asked to contact MKD's granite distributors myself to locate enough matching material for our kitchen. Their Detroit distributor did not have what we needed, so I contacted the Grand Rapids distributor and found three slabs from the same lot. I specifically reserved those three matching slabs, then contacted MKD and was told they would order them for our project. When the countertops arrived, the large island countertop had an entire corner smashed. From what I could see, the granite was transported sitting on the floor of the truck without any type of protective framing. MKD did send someone out to repair it. The first repair needed additional work, but after a second visit, the damage is now difficult to notice unless you know where to look. To their credit, MKD handled that situation reasonably well and refunded $800 because of the issue. Unfortunately, the backsplash has now created an even bigger problem. The backsplash was supposed to be fabricated from the same three slabs we had specifically located and reserved so that it would match our countertops. It was installed today, and one of the major sections is very clearly NOT from the matching material. The base color of the granite is completely different. This isn't a minor variation in natural stone that you have to look closely to notice. You can see the difference from across the house. After everything we went through to specifically locate and reserve three slabs from the same lot, having MKD fabricate part of the backsplash from visibly different material is unacceptable. When I contacted MKD about the problem, I was told they would "escalate my concerns to Home Depot." Home Depot did not fabricate the granite. MKD did. I'm not asking for another discount, and I'm not asking for money back. I'm asking for the product we purchased and specifically planned months in advance to receive. The mismatched section of backsplash needs to be removed and remade using the matching granite we selected and reserved. I will update this review depending on how MKD chooses to resolve the issue.

I wanted a quote for doing some tiling in our house before we sold it. Called around to try and get…read moresome quotes for the project. So I call up and explain what I would like to get done and ask if I could someone over for a estimate. THE FIRST question I got back was "Are you looking around or getting other quotes?". I told the lady yes I wasn't sure exactly so I wanted to look around. She then told me if I was getting other quotes they wouldn't give me one it "wasn't worth their time". WTF?? I really didn't know what to say to say to that so that was the end of the conversation. Are they so sure that their prices are so unrealistic that why bother to even try? I have never experienced ANY company handle something like this. I would look else where. I have to clue what there work may be like (could be great who knows) but after my experience and reading other similar ones I am dead sure its probably one headache after another dealing with them.

All I can say is I am floored by how arrogant and rude the owner is! We had three different…read moreprojects we were looking to have done at our home: 1. roof 2. soffit 3. porch. We've also received estimates from two other companies who told us we had at least five years left on our roof and just needed to repair a section around the chimney; Newman said we needed to replace the whole thing. Surprise! When I asked about the soffit, his first question was "what's our budget?". I said it is whatever it costs and that we were comfortable with the other two estimates we'd received. He then said they weren't interested in bidding on the project. I said "Ok. Then thank you for your time." He was shocked I didn't want to know why. "Don't you know who we are?!" he said, like they are some sort of celebrity. "Don't you know our reputation?!" I just told him we were done and asked him to leave. We didn't even make it through everything we wanted to have done. Apparently he assumed we couldn't afford the work or realized that since we'd already had other estimates done he wasn't going to be able to talk us into unnecessary work. Either way, I am shocked and disgusted and only gave them one star because I couldn't give them zero!

I would avoid Shouldice at all costs. One of their professionals provided us with a quote for…read morenecessary electrical work to be done to bring a house up to code, prior to us purchasing the home. When we requested that they then come on site to complete the work, we engaged in a torturous months-long complicated string of communications where the professional would come out, do a bit of work, and then disappear. Scheduling was a nightmare, we could not get him out for weeks and months at a time. Suddenly some of the electrical items in the home stopped working altogether, making us very concerned that the original assessment of safety of the home was inadequate. We spoke to Shouldice then, directly, and they were very accommodating in sending a different professional out, immediately, to review the work and make additional recommendations, which turned a terrible experience into something we felt much better about. Fast forward more than a month later to Shouldice insisting that additional payment was owed for the review of the work. I politely requested reconsideration, at which point a Shouldice representative that I had never spoken with shouted at me, interrupted me repeatedly and accused me of trying to "get out of the bill" and demanding that I discuss it in person with him and the two professionals (one of which was obviously now aware that I had complained about the process) if I wanted anything rectified. Truthfully, the additional charge wasn't significant enough to warrant this harassment, so I paid it. The whole experience was atrocious, a little bit scary and tremendously disappointing. After all of this, there are still items on the list that were never completed! Steer clear.
