I am writing this recommendation for Riemco with profound enthusiasm because they have shown us a better way. We have lived in our Riemco-built house for about a year, and absolutely love it! We chose Riemco over other firms that we looked at because we were so impressed with their the process that they showed us. It was detailed and well documented, and as an engineer who designs multi-million dollar infrastructure projects, I knew that such a process is critical to delivering quality on time and on budget. The process delivered throughout our project. The process began with Peter designing our house, and Lauren designing the interior details. Peter was wonderful to work with, did an incredible job translating our paper sketch into a buildable plan. Lauren was also amazing, and spent a great deal of time sitting down with my wife to nail down interior details to our exact liking. The vendors that they sent us to, to select our materials were also wonderful to work with, and provided a great deal of help. Big George's and Floor Traders deserve a special shout-out. As design wrapped up, we had a wonderful experience working with Ron during construction. This was where the process continued to payoff, as the we did not encounter any surprises. Ron was great about answering our questions and keeping things on track, as was Rob--who is an incredibly knowledgeable, hands-on owner. I was particularly impressed at the thought that he put into materials and techniques, and how he was constantly looking for ways to improve and deliver the best. The end result, however, is the ultimate argument in favor of both Riemco and its process. Our house is incredible. From the details of design that Peter and Lauren preformed so brilliantly, to the quality of construction that Ron oversaw, the house is amazing. There are so many wonderful things about--from the reduced demand on HVAC due to its solid thermal design, to the lack of wear that a typical house would experience, to the beautiful interiors that Lauren and Peter helped design, it is truly our dream home. We highly recommend Riemco for any new home construction, expansion, or restoration. The approach they showed us delivered quality beyond our wildest expectations. Understand that when one hires Riemco, they will not deliver a typical McMansion. Riemco delivers a truly solid, beautiful home built to the exact liking of the individual customer.

Ken even had other subcontractors come out to ensure that we had the best estimate for the work. They kept us in the loop, cleaned up at the end of the day, and always demonstrated a high level of professionalism (i.e., early/on time, respectful, reliable, etc.), which made them stand out compared to all the other contractors we contacted. The only downside was the cost relative to other contractors. However, as newbie homeowners we've learned that the contractor fees tend to be higher in Ann Arbor. Although, we feel that the fee was well worth it in the end because of their stellar work. The bathroom previously was a room to avoid, and a space that we didn't use. I needed full demo of the back part of my home, a rat wall on the exterior wall, waterproofing, regrading, and reconstruction (insulation, drywall, paint, floors, etc.). Every other contractor didn't seem to grasp the complexities of the work I was trying to get quoted, but I could tell James completely understood and listened to me. His price was also very fair. Here are some pictures of his work. The negative review below called him snarky and I didn't understand it at first but now I do. He'll never own up to anything. It's never his fault no matter how poor of a job he does. Charged me $75/hr for flooring only to show up and see his painter doing the flooring. Unbelievably squeaky floors. I can hear them from downstairs. When I told him the floors are squeaky, he told me the house was old. I wish I could upload a video that shows the noise.
