Great customer service and they have all the basics. I don't like how the parking is in the back but the store itself is awesome!

A little small, but the quality of the inventory makes up for it. Helpful staff and great location.

Two stars only because we like Bernie, our sales guy. He was great…read more We ordered a dining set back in 2023. It came and we thought the color seemed off but we figured sometimes hard to gauge how a table will look based on a small sample. So we carried on. Didn't love the table but also didn't hate it. But we were very aware it didn't match our kitchen cabinets that we matched up the sample with. Fast forward to this summer when we decided to order a coffee table, an end table and entry table in the exact wood and finish as the dining table because with an open concept living concept the last thing we wanted was to to add another shade of wood to the layout. It was already off given the difference in the shade of the table vs our cabinets, which was supposed to match or at least be close. Everything was ordered to match. Yay! Then they deliver the coffee and end tables and they are the EXACT color of the original sample we used to decide on our dining table but definitely NOT the color of the dining table. We loved it but it confirmed-something/someone messed up our dining table finish. They sent out someone to take pics after we reached out.. It's obvious. After a few weeks we then hear there's nothing they can do. Sooo, they mess up, offer no explanation (or even an apology) and....that's it? Very disappointing. At the very least, own your mistake. You're better off at IKEA where you'll know the furniture matches.

As an Okemos native and firm believer in shopping local, it is unfortunate that my experience with…read morethe Pilgrim House was a bad one. I purchased a Bassett leather sofa and reclining chair as well as the extended warranty for both pieces the end of August. 2023. By May 2024 the finish on both pieces of furniture was starting to peel and a stitch coming loose on the seat of the sofa. I contacted the warranty company sending close up pictures. I was told that this was "clearly a manufacturer's defect" and to contact Pilgrim House, which I did immediately. A home visit was scheduled a few weeks later to have someone from Pilgrim House repair department view the pieces. A couple of weeks after the home visit I received a call saying they were contacting Bassett about the problem. Another 3-4 weeks later after my numerous attempts in to find out if Pilgrim House has heard anything I was told they would contact me. Finally at the end of August 2024 I received a call from the Pilgrim House repair department saying Bassett would not do anything more than send a tube of paint to color in the areas that were peeling. I then asked to speak with the owner of Pilgrim House. He returned my call me a few days later. After expressing my shock and displeasure with the proposed resolution, he told me there was nothing more he will do. I asked if he would be satisfied with that answer. I reiterated that the problem started so soon after delivery and I purchased the extended warranty, I was told by the owner in a most unprofessional way that there was nothing else he was going to do. Obviously customer satisfaction was not a priority. It took almost 2 months for Bassett to send the paint and then wait for the repair visit where the paint was applied and the loose stitch fixed. I WOULD NOT recommend Pilgrim House and DEFINITELY would not recommend buying the warranty unless you use knives and sharp tools while sitting on the furniture as that would have been covered.

Whatever you do, do not buy a washing machine from these crooks…read more They take out a standard metal part and replace it with plastic. They'll tell you to your face that they do it, it's no secret. They insist that it prevents the machine from burning out the motor, but what it really does is just strip out every 3 months. I bought my machine from them in April. Same exact washer I'd owned for 15 years before without a single issue. I had to replace it because our last landlord never fixed the flooding issues in the basement and the frame on the bottom rusted out, user damage, not manufacturing. Anyway, they told me not to overload it, it would strip the plastic part. Okaaaay... Two months in, it wouldn't spin anymore. "Well, gosh lady, you must have overloaded it." Riiiight. A $60 house call later and I'm washing again but I am extra careful never to load it too full and I start taking any heavy items; comforters, heavy blankets, etc. to the laundromat, so I'm out a load of quarters too. Three months later - same thing - the washer won't spin. I tell the guy, I don't over load it. He says, "Well, ya' know, you can't be too careful. If you run small loads it can work it too hard..." Really? WTF?! So another $60 house call (although I think I talked them down on this one, I was pretty unhappy). Washer's up again and I duct tape the cycle level switch so no one can run anything but a monster load, even if they only want to wash socks. That's what the guy said to do. Two months later and the stupid part strips out AGAIN! only now I'm "out of warranty" (6 months) so they won't even come out and fix it, I need to take it to them. I had them haul it off and bought a new washer that I adore. Don't trust these guys when it comes to washers, they're clueless!

Do not purchase from them if you expect any quality customer service. Yes, they have good product…read moreat a good price if you are purchasing new. But if you are purchasing anything used, look elsewhere. We purchased a washer and dryer 5 months ago. We were able to get a 6 month warranty on the washer which is now having troubles, but only 1 month on the dryer. The dryer has clear ventilation and we only dry medium sized loads in it. The dryer has had the fuse replaced once under warranty and once outside of warranty that we paid for. After the second time it blew again while drying the first light load of delicates. Since we can't afford to pay 60 a week to have the fuse constantly replaced we will have to find someone who actually knows what they are doing when it comes to repairs because even their own technician said there was no reason for it to keep blowing unless we were overloading it which we are not. In addition to the trouble with the actual machines, their technicians did damage to our house by backing their truck into it during delivery. 5 months later and we still have not had this damage fixed, even though they say they will, after several phone and in person conversations and sending pictures of damage. So again, buying brand new is fine, but, if buying used, you will only get something from here that needs constant out of pocket repairs.

My boyfriend and I have been casually looking on and off for a new coffee table for awhile. I had…read moredriven past Stonesthrow many times but had never stopped in. I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!
