She dropped everything she was doing to open up the register closest to him, leading me to say, "I was next." She called somebody over from the photo area to ring me up. I said, "You know what, forget it." An entire year goes by and I think to myself, since she thought she was too good for that place, maybe she left. No such luck. I have nothing in my hands as she very slowly approaches me. I clearly need something from behind the registers. She refuses eye contact or a simple greeting. I wait a full 30 seconds to tell her what I need. She hautily scans them up without a word. She likes to wear acrylic nails and her brown hair pulled up in a twist. Her glasses prove she had better times, but she's still ringing people up at Rite Aid, and needs to get over herself. Smithgall's is probably one of the few surviving non-chain neighborhood pharmacies. It's a typical corner store in a residential area, with beautifully restored older homes. It's the opposite of a big box chain. Smaller selection, however I saw products (Sea Breeze!) that I haven't seen in a store. This may be because the shelves are not jammed with stuff. No self checkout. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The woman at the counter answered questions with cheer, and quickly checked customers out. The prices were...reasonable. A 20 oz bottle of soda cost $1.50 for example, which is on par with others. It's just a lovely place, and I'm sure we'll stop in next time we're in Lancaster, even if it's out of the way.

I continue to use this location because its convenient to work and all I'm doing is picking up refills. My family has done business with Ganse for many years. This is a testament to a GREAT apothecary. The owner is a Great Guy, he has gone above the call of duty for myself and my brother. This store really is a little gem and different from the chain drug stores. I need to remember to…read morego here more often! What I like is they carry many products catering to homeopathic, natural,and organic lifestyles. Whether it be medication, beauty supplies, or food - their selection of these items are the best around. This is in addition to the normal drug store staples of beauty, drug, cosmetics, seasonal items,etc. They also have a pharmacy which I've never used. Hubby likes the fitness supplements and protein powders. Their selection of these items are pretty plentiful too. Prices are kinda all over the place, depending on the product but overall probably higher than say going to CVS. Often they will have a double page ad of coupons in the Clipper so look for it for additional savings on select items. When I was dumbfounded on where to find essential oils I found them here. Selection is fairly good although there were several I bought on ebay either because Savemart didn't carry them or the price was better. So why 4 stars and not 5? For me I hate their parking lot. The layout is poorly designed. Secondly the isles are close together and crammed. The place is usually crowded and its hard to find help.
