Came here with prescription in hand because they took my insurance and had hours after 5pm…read more Obviously I just needed to select frames and have my script filled. Prior to coming out I called to see if an appt was needed. The lady on the phone (Kim?) mentioned that she was waiting to get a call on a family emergency and didn't want to say she'd be there, me show, and they be closed. I liked that she was upfront and honest, and very sincere in her apology for the inconvenience. I was like "hey girl, things happen". A few days later I was able to pick my glasses over lunch. I'm an in and out kind of person so I knew I wanted to stick with frames covered by insurance and didn't need alot of extras. Kim waited on me and was very mindful of my time and need to get back to work. While she did try to upsell a few options, she also explained why I might want them. She also gave me a deal better than my insurance would have covered. My glasses were ordered and ready in a little over a week. An appt is needed to pick them up. When my appt came, again trying to pick up over my lunch, the girl (not Kim) was on the phone which I suspect by the conversation was a personal call. I waited, sat up, stood up, walked around, and while I was acknowledged she made no attempt to get off the phone. Finally "delivering" them to me unchecked " try these on and let me know how they feel, good, great, call if you have any problems" all the while still having her phone to her ear. That experience could have been better. Never met the doctor, liked the hours, fact they took my insurance, and thought prices and turnaround time were reasonable. It just took one bad apple at pick up to change this from a 4 to 3 star review.

Despite all that, I hope a "reader benefits" from this review: UNACCEPTABLE ...THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I have had a bad experience at this practice. My appt. with Dr. Thode was scheduled for 3:15 pm - I sat in that office for "2 hours" before I even got to see the eye doctor and most of that time was in the exam room, That is ridiculous - I saw people come in after me, get treated and leave before me. When I left the office it was near closing time and there were no other patients in the reception area. To make things worse, no apologies from anyone! I only went back to that practice because of a recommendation from my eye doctor, but never again!!! I hope Thode sees this because him and his staff need to do better.

It's an actual pleasure to go to this practice! (Except for the eye-drops and the "puff" machine)…read more I've been going annually for about 10 years now. And had both lenses replaced by Dr. Rommel 2 years ago. The nurse assistants and Dr. Rommel are not only very good at their jobs but are very personable and appear to take an actual interest in the patient's well-being throughout each visit. The advice and suggestions for my better eye health and general health (at my age of 81) that they offer are both intelligent and helpful. I cannot imagine any better eye care anywhere than I get at Manning & Rommel Associates. Note: The "review mafia" must have put this place on their "hit-list" for some reason. None of the "no stars" reviews are valid, in my opinion. Seems like some of them were meant for another practice and submitted here in error. Only one of the bad reviews names a Dr. in this practice, so that one's probably in the intended place.

Highly, highly recommend ModernEyes for quality customer service and quick, quality glasses…read more PA isn't my home state; I traveled here from Nebraska to spend time with my partner who lives here. We took a trip to Rehoboth Beach on a Friday and, being unfamiliar with the ocean, I went in with my glasses and lost them when a wave crashed into me. I have an especially strong prescription (-6.25 & -6.5), so not having vision correction for an extended time isn't a viable option for me. I called a few places on Saturday when we were home again, but they either had a two week turnaround time to make a new pair of glasses (not an option, as I'd be out of the state at that point) or didn't have lenses in my prescription in stock for a more quickly made pair. When I phoned ModernEyes, Emily answered my call and was immediately sympathetic, friendly, and very helpful. She was able to find lenses in my prescription, and when I went to ModernEyes to pick out a pair of frames to go with them, she was incredibly helpful in choosing styles that suited me and advising me on which pair would best suit my time constraints, budget, and personal style. (I feel like it's the first time my tastes have aligned so well with someone helping me pick out frames!) They were able to cut the lenses to fit the frames in house, and in about 30 minutes, my new glasses were ready. She helped me fit the frames comfortably to my face and assured me I could get them adjusted if they ended up feeling too tight or if the lenses were disorienting in any way. I can't adequately express my gratitude for her patience, warmth, and attentiveness. Something that I thought might derail my entire vacation ended up being resolved quicker than I could imagine. A huge huge thank you to Emily for being such a lovely presence and helper, and thank you to ModernEyes for having what I needed when I needed it!

I lost a pair of the glasses I had bought 7 months later ( January). I'm about 5 months out from my next annual checkup. I don't want to drop a lot of $, when I may need a new script in a few months, but do want to have a back up pair. Although I have never done it before I was thinking about ordering a cheap pair on line to get me through to when I would go back to see them in June. I called them to talk about my situation and to ask them for the Pupillary Distance (PD) measure because that was missing from the prescription that they had provided me. After speaking with their representative I was told that they do not give that measurement to the patient and that is only kept for them when you buy glasses from them. Tried explaining my situation, that I had paid for an optometry examination and that I expect the PD is a part of what I had paid them for. For the most part all I received was a rude response. In my opinion their policy shows that they care nothing about their patients and are only concerned with making as much as they can. Instead of a repeat customer from me and my wife, we will choose to take our business elsewhere. I will not recommend them to anyone I know and leave it up to anyone who cares to read this review if they should do business with them.
