Highly, highly recommend ModernEyes for quality customer service and quick, quality glasses. PA isn't my home state; I traveled here from Nebraska to spend time with my partner who lives here. We took a trip to Rehoboth Beach on a Friday and, being unfamiliar with the ocean, I went in with my glasses and lost them when a wave crashed into me. I have an especially strong prescription (-6.25 & -6.5), so not having vision correction for an extended time isn't a viable option for me. I called a few places on Saturday when we were home again, but they either had a two week turnaround time to make a new pair of glasses (not an option, as I'd be out of the state at that point) or didn't have lenses in my prescription in stock for a more quickly made pair. When I phoned ModernEyes, Emily answered my call and was immediately sympathetic, friendly, and very helpful. She was able to find lenses in my prescription, and when I went to ModernEyes to pick out a pair of frames to go with them, she was incredibly helpful in choosing styles that suited me and advising me on which pair would best suit my time constraints, budget, and personal style. (I feel like it's the first time my tastes have aligned so well with someone helping me pick out frames!) They were able to cut the lenses to fit the frames in house, and in about 30 minutes, my new glasses were ready. She helped me fit the frames comfortably to my face and assured me I could get them adjusted if they ended up feeling too tight or if the lenses were disorienting in any way. I can't adequately express my gratitude for her patience, warmth, and attentiveness. Something that I thought might derail my entire vacation ended up being resolved quicker than I could imagine. Great experience! The staff is super friendly and down to earth. They have more frames to choose from than any other place we have been. They are all great choices. They do not take insurance but the prices are the same as if they did. They offer great programs for kids, they offer discounts to schools employees if your school district participates. I want to thank Modern Eyes Optical. I am from the west coast and was visiting Lancaster for a wedding in early November. I neglected to pack my left contact lenses and needed to try to get some spares to carry me through the busy weekend events. This place is great! I originally we t in just to get frames and have my lense prescription faxed over but didnt really work out. So i scheduled a eye exam and they worked with me on that. Their exam was really through, and I found d out more about my eyes than any other doctor. The frames I got, their front cou ter person James helped me pick out are terrific and he was so helpful. Price for exam and frames are extremely affordable since I didnt have insurance coverage. I'm very happy with everything from the exam to picking out my frames. Staff was all nice, taking Covid precautions, and Jon was the greatest to work with, finding me cool yet fun and funky frames on my tight budget! He did a great job with putting my lenses from a broken pair of old frames into the new ones he helped me find (that were an odd shape btw). I normally take hours to pick out a pair of glasses and this day I was going for regular glasses AND sun glasses. I thought for sure I would be camping out overnight. The young man I worked with was FANTASTIC! With his help and advice we were done the whole process in about an hour! He took great attention to what I wanted and didn't hassle me when I didn't like frames he suggested, we just kept moving on until we found the right ones for me. He measured and re measured until he felt the fit would be right and when I picked them up he was just as exacting. The pricing of the frames, lenses, eye exam and my options was clear and reasonable. When I was given all the options for various lenses and coatings I could get for them, my salesman and I discussed them and until I chose what I needed. No pressure there either. I did not go with the most expensive and he did not try to push it. Finally, to top it off, money from the glasses I bought goes toward providing children in the community who can't afford glasses free ones! Perfect! read more

I had a wonderful experience. I was overwhelmed by the selection and they helped me narrow it down and chose frames they thought would look great on me. They made me feel great about myself! Not only that, but they gave me a discount because my mom works with a school that is signed up for a program that gives discounts to employees and their families. ALSO for every two pair of glasses someone from the district buys they donate a pair to a student who may not be able to afford it. Such a wonderful program to help others in need. Modern eyes always has great frames. The only place to find amazing frames in Lancaster. However, the rating explains the experience. Went in with my mom to look at frames but the people working in there were breathing down her neck as soon as we walked in. We couldn't even look around on our own. They were grabbing glasses for her to try on left and right all of which were nothing she would like. Let the woman look around the store! It was so frustrating that she wasn't able to shop on her own. Women like to shop. If we need your help, we'll ask. Otherwise leave us alone. How annoying! We couldn't wait to leave. read more

Very disappointing. I had to wait 45 minutes after I arrived to be seen by the doctor. I had to wait 30 minutes when I had my follow up visit. My doctor was very engaging and thorough. My coupon stated my exam was $60 but I was charged $100. I was told this was because it was a contact lens exam. However there was no distinction on the coupon. Selection of glasses was also minimal. I'll never return. read more
