Since moving back to Tucson, I've been on a quest to sample the best tuna tartare the town has to offer. I've searched high and low; money has been no object. And I've come to the conclusion that Wildflower's Tuna Tartare salad-appetizer (priced at a reasonable $15) is the pinnacle of pure delectability. The avocado is creamy thin. The tuna is sliced to perfection. The pairing of several flavors adds to the dish's delicious complexity. I savored the entire thing and have since decided that this is going to be my last meal on Earth. I urge you to try it, but do so at your own risk: you won't be able to get it out of your head. (Or mouth). read more

I love this place. Been here a few times, and each time i'm always impressed. The most recent time i went I enjoyed the Asian Chicken Salad. Very flavorful and the textures were all perfect. Also, i had the Blooming Daisy, 2 to be exact and i tend to always forget the punch they pack and got a little tipsy. I always look forward to dining at Wildflower. The ambience, food, and service are always top notch. read more

What a fantastic experience! I can see why Fox Restaurants have been a success for the past 15 years after visiting the very first location. We stopped by the bar for social hour before our dinner reservation. We were completely entertained watching the bartender mix some beautiful martinis...next time, for sure! Our dinner did not disappoint either...beautiful decor, professional service and flavorful food. We both started with the poblano corn chowder and it was divine - light enough, but so much flavor. I tried the glazed pork tenderloin with mac 'n cheese and brocolli and hubby tried the paella...we both were very happy with our choices. The prices were extremely reasonable too - great value for the money! This is a must dine place in Tucson! read more

I ordered the ravioli mushrooms. We were seated outside during the summer which wasn't an issue because of the misters they have. It's upscale but also you can wear jeans here. The sangria is killer! read more

I went there on a Monday night for a girls night dinner. The food was great and the seating wasn't bad. It was a bit chilly out, but the inside was packed so we opted to be seated outside. The outdoor heating was effective and none of us were chilly. One of the waiters came and asked for our beverage order but didn't tell us the specials before doing so. I ordered the Malbec and loved it, $10 a glass but it was worth it. We all ordered our food, a spinach salad, the ever-changing ravioli (mushroom this time), bowtie pasta, and I ordered the meatloaf. I have never had meatloaf before but it came with green beans and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was moist, flavorful, and delicious, I would definitely recommend it. My friends loved their bowtie pasta and the ever-changing ravioli. The downfalls to this restaurant is definitely the service. We had three different people helping our table and it was confusing for all parties included. I think there should be better training for the servers, but the manager or site was very friendly and came and talked to us to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ update: 5/20/09 I just had my graduation dinner at Wildflower and it was great! Amber was our coordinator and we had 16 adults. They set up the patio on the right side and had things ready before we got there. We started with appetizers and a delicious wine selection (our party really enjoyed Whitehaven's Sauvignon Blanc!). The food was divine (specifically the Salmon dish). However....the dessert was out of this world! They have a cake there called "Chocoholic" and it was seriously the best cake I've had. My family loves chocolate and really enjoyed the dessert. Their presentation was exceptional and given the opportunity, I'd love to host another party there. read more

Having been quite pleased with other FOX Restaurants, my wife and I were looking forward to a quiet dinner together at Wildflower Grill. Upon arriving, we were seated in a chair/booth combo against a glass wall separating the bar lounge from the dining room. The dining room was very nice with low music playing, candles on the tables and warm colors that made it feel posh and cozy at the same time. Our food was wonderful, the waitstaff excellent, the ambiance almost perfect. Almost. The music volume increased as things got into full swing at the bar. In response bar patrons increased their volume to be heard and our half of the dining room became almost unbearably loud. My wife and I had to almost shout across the table to each other to be heard. Do yourself a favor and specifically request one of the booths on the far side of the dining room if you're interested in talking to your date during dinner. read more

Not sure if I came on just two very bad days or if the food really is just bland/tasteless. The first time I came here was my birthday, I shared the fish n chips with my mom. I think they used oil has a form of seasoning because there was way to much oil on both the fries and the fish. I also had my own salad which was a few lettuce chunks, 4 cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of cheese for like $9. The salad filled less than half of my plate. I also came on Valentines 2014. We spent $150 for two including tip/tax. My partner got the steak, which he said had the consistency of rubber. I had the baked chicken with mushrooms and other veggies, it was bland/tasteless. The service here is great, they were more than happy to bring my partner another dish since he did not like the steak. He decided to try out the chicken like me and was not a big fan either. To break it down.... This restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. The decor and atmosphere is probably my favorite out of all the restaurants in Tucson. The service is great too. However, the food is not good at all especially for the price. read more

Wildflower is one of the reasons we are pleased to be moving to Oro Valley, Arizona. This restaurant was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. We will return!! read more

I'm writing this review after dining here at various times and on 4 seperate occasions. The only downside I have seen is when the service backs up because they can get busy. This happens at fox restaraunts when they offer generous.discounts and incentives to pack the place. In light of this I've still had great service depending on the server and where I was seated, hence the 4 stars. This I can see would drag down other reviews if you only came here once when it was a line out the door and 1 server for 6 tables. Now on to the food: If you come for happy hour the apps and beverages are amazing, but get the at 3 when it starts or you could end up outside or having to wait. The smoked salmon and calamari are some of the best I've had. The entree can vary depending on your taste and also how busy it gets I've also noticed. One night the portions and attention to detail will be spot on and others room for improvement. Sometimes frustrating for dishes costing over 20 dollars, but if you try the flank steak or fish and chips you won't be sorry. Just be sure you come back more than once and you'll see the difference. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant, the boyfriend and I arrived around 7pm-ish on a Saturday night and we waited about an hour, which we thought wasn't that bad. Our waiter was a little spacey and it seemed like it took a very long time for our food to come out, but otherwise, nice restaurant. Had the Grilled Whole Artichoke and it was simply delicious! I'm not sure what I expected, but I really enjoyed this and was really excited about eating it. It tasted like it was seasoned with steak seasoning. I didn't care for the mayo/butter dipping sauce too much, but the artichoke had enough flavor in itself for me to enjoy. The boyfriend had the Pan-Seared Ribeye and he said it had a lot of flavor and enjoyed it. I was just concerned about the meat quality because it's a fairly thin steak. He said that that did not detract from the meal. I had the Lemongrass Skewered Scallops which were really tasty. Scallops were a nice size and very juicy. The snap peas and "forbidden rice" were nice accents to it as well. Enjoyed all the flavors. We splurged and got dessert. There was a debate between the special Chocolate Cake or the Donuts. Decided on the Donuts and man was it delicious! The donuts were the right fluffyness and cinnamon flavor for me. I loved everything about it. Also, I love the decor, both outside and inside, overall, I would go back to the restaurant. read more

Hmmm....2nd visit probably my last unless it's a company function. Pork tenderloin was decent, Mac and cheese was a miss, much too runny as in not baked at all. Paella was super salty. However my cocktail was refreshing and dessert was tasty. Service was good. read more

Wildflower - Hot chocolate cake with peanut butter foam and gelato. - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Drove up from Phoenix. After a lovely, rainy day to visit the Biosphere II, we were delighted to find a cozy Tucson cafe at the recommendation of someone in Sprouts. It was 4:30p.m.Saturday, the large patio was a empty, but we were sat on the outer patio by ourselves by a short, pretentious manager. I requested a table on the large, vacant, inside patio where it was warm. They said they would light the burners for us. I requested it a second time and the waitress came back and said, "It's warmer now, right?" I said, "is that table available?" She said, "We could make it work," but didn't move us. I amended this to 4 stars...when I called corporate to report my experience they were extremely responsive. I visit Fox restaurants often now. read more

This place is amazing. And I might even go as far as saying it's not only my favorite restaurant in Tucson, but definitely top 5 favorite restaurants ever. Let me start with the food; wow! The food is nothing short of spectacular. For appetizers I recommend the calamari, it's fresh, the right amount of crunch, and absolutely delicious! For entrees, I have tried the barbecue tacos, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and the short rib ravioli. I have to say that the short rib ravioli is by far my favorite! Absolutely delicious, it is a MUST try dish. I also recommend the tuscan kale salad. My brother, who is not a salad eater, finished it in seconds. With dessert, you cannot go wrong with the bars of sin. Beware however that you really have to love chocolate to enjoy this dessert. The butterscotch pudding is delicious too, just a little sweet. Now, let me talk about the service. WOW! The service is one of the best I have ever seen. Not only are the waiters super attentive and nice, the restaurant itself cares about their customers. I came to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend and our dessert was on the house! They gave us a full plate of bars of sin, chocolate covered strawberries and cookies! And they even wrote "Happy Anniversary". I was in complete awe, but wait, I am not finished. I also celebrated my graduation dinner and not only did they give my friend (who was also graduating) and I a special dessert platter, they offered the whole table (21+ of course) a toast of champagne! I am completely at a loss for words. If you have yet to try Wildflower I recommend you do so, because it is by far a hidden gem in Tucson! read more

Well, I made a promise to myself to try more new places and I have been and with the help of Yelp, I have made some very good choices. So, here goes another great review...went for lunch. Made a reservation, since it was going to be a beautiful spring day, I asked for the patio. Glad I made a reservation, the patio is beautiful and fills up fast. Our server asked if we had been there before and since we hadn't, she wanted to know if we had any questions and offered us a few suggestions. We started off with an appetizer of 'the board'. Nicely presented board full of cheeses, meat, olives, nuts, crostini, roasted red peppers and 2 of my favs bacon wrapped dates and wild cherry conpote. Can I say YUM! Since the app was large and plentiful, I opted for the greek salad and my friend ordered the chicken salsd sandwich. My salald was large and fresh..little bits of chopped olive, cucumber, onion. The vinaigrette was very light and a perfect balace with all the other flavors. Since I didnt actually have the chicaken sandwich, I have to go by what they tell me...my quest loved it. I do know that it had grapes in the mixture and was served on a marble looking wheat bread. Thick cut. She said it was super delicious and flavors worked so well together. She was very pleased. I am looking forward to coming back for dinner but, if you go for lunch request patio, weather permitting and just enjoy a wonderful lunch read more

The short rib ravioli was probably the best thing we ate during our whole trip. I've been trying to recreate the wildflower margarita since I got home-it was amazing. We shared the kale Cesar salad, edamame dumplings and grilled artichoke. They were good, but didn't come close to the ravioli. It's pretty loud, so try to sit at a booth on the side. read more

Food: B Service: B This place was pretty good. I liked the restaurant and the staff was friendly. It took a long time for our waiter to approach the table, but after that he was pretty good. We did need to ask another server to get him so we could receive our bill. We had the edamame dumplings appetizer, which were fantastic. They had a great amount of flavor, though there were only 5 dumplings to an order, at least give me an even number. For lunch I had the Asian chicken salad. The salad had great flavor, though I'm pretty sure the chicken was just chicken lunch meat out of the whole foods next door. The shining star of this meal was the dessert. We ordered two because we were still hungry from our meal, one was the butterscotch pudding and the other was the key lime tart. The butterscotch pudding had a salted carmel drizzle on it, and t was delicious. The key lime tart was also delicious. The deserts really made the difference between 3 stars and 4 stars. read more

Nancy the manager of Wildflower immediately reached out to me after my previous review and made arrangements to make our experience right. Unfortunately since I don't live in Tucson, it was took a little while before I was back in Tucson to eat at Wildflower. I was back just a couple weeks ago when my family was in town visiting from Colorado. I let Nancy know we were going to be in and she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and the food was exactly like it was the when we first discovered Wildflower, AMAZING!!!! Now I can't wait to go back again, we all LOVED everything we had. We even had a server who had a potential server shadowing her and both were fabulous and wonderful. It is clear that Nancy takes her position seriously and strives to make changes where they are needed and wants every guest to have the most wonderful experience. read more

This is the second time eating here, the first time being a perfectly excellent experience one year ago. We'd been looking forward to coming back for the whole year! Unfortunately, the experience was mediocre this time. The grilled artichoke, which was superb last time, was cold and stale this time. Although the bread and dip was very good, the rest of the meal lacked flavor and interest. The limited selection of vegetarian dishes for one of our party was disappointing. And the salad she ordered was barely ok. All in all, a disappointing meal. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years whenever we would visit Tucson. Today, some of us came here after hiking Sabino Canyon and it was the perfect meal. I had spinach papardelle, my cousin had mozzarella pansotti with pistachio pesto, and my brother had the turkey club. They were ALL delicious (the pasta, by the way, is all handmade at the restaurant!). Our server was great, very personable and quick, even gave me a lemonade for the drive back to Phoenix. :) read more

VISIT THIS PLACE DURING HAPPY HOUR! Like all Fox restaurants, Wildflower offers a kick-ass happy hour. The happy hour offers several "snacks" that can double as a sampler feast. The prices of the food as well as specialty drinks during happy hour are so cheap that you won't feel guilty sampling. The blood orange margarita is awesome. Again, like all Fox restaurants, the decor of the dining room and patio is trendy and delightful. read more

Came to this establishment after a long drive home from Vegas. We were definitely not dressed for the night. That didn't deter our waiter, who was hot according to my wife :). I had the prime rib with some wine and a salad. It was cooked perfectly, nice red center. The mashed potatos soaked up the blood and sauces nicely to give a great flavor. We will definitely be going back when we aren't worn out from driving all Day! read more

Attitude and gratitude are the NUMBER ONE qualities a restaurant should have and, as of today, Wildflower will no longer qualify! My Tucson based, very successful, meet-up group has decided to permanently boycott this wannabe 5 star Michelin restaurant who imposed a USD 48 minimum spending and a 5 day cancellation policy on our group claiming a Tuesday on November is considered a "busy time" at 7 PM arrival! You have my contact here at Yelp. I will consider bringing my group back when your corporate office apologizes and begs us to fill up your tables, say, starting April or May when you'll have nobody there pass 8 PM. Our group will still be dining....somewhere! read more

The best praise is going back again and again...And I have. And I will. The Happy Hour ,as a prior reviewer said, is very good; $3/pints and a handful of tasty appetizers reasonably priced. The food is very good and the staff will substitute whatever you need to in order to accommodate your needs. I am not a dessert person because I am gluten sensitive but when I throw caution to the wind, this dessert is well worth it. Honestly, it is among the most imaginative desserts I have ever eaten. If I say I could almost skip the meal and eat desert...this tells you how interesting and tasty it is. The staff is simply the very best. I find this to be a place where I can relax, come back, eat good food and know I will be well cared for. I have eaten here more than anywhere else in Tucson and it is a forty minute drive! read more

Been here a few times. Tonight the food wasn't quite up to normal. Usually really great though. The service has always been good. Definitely make a reservation for dinners though! They're mixed drinks are usually pretty yummy (fig and ginger mule is my fave.) as for the food I've had the seafood paella (awesome!), scallops (usually great but tonight a little sub par- not cleaned completely and over salted) and the short rib ravioli (yummy but super rich.) By far though I recommend the cinnamon donuts! Such a yummy dessert!!! On most nights I would've given it a 5, but tonight the gritty scallops brought it down. Definitely will be returning though! read more

I'll let you know now, I've only eaten at Wildflower once but I went to bed that night thinking I had just had one of the best meals of my life! The decor of this place make you feel like you should be somewhere in the South. Georgia or Savannah maybe and I LOVE the outdoor patio The dishes they turn out though, are no reflection of this place being old-school anything. Cocktails? Amazing. I tried the Tres Flores along with other and it was our table's favorite. Wine selection? Very good. Not a very broad list of options but carefully chosen. Food? Outstanding! Started with the Asparagus Bruschetta that I wasn't into ordering but far, far exceeded my expectations with some sort of sweet red pepper sauce that snuck into it. I also had the Miso-Glazed Black Cod with savory edamame dumplings and the oh-so tender and subtle Sweet Potato Mascarpone Tortelli. Dessert? Sorry but no comment, we took a stroll down to Frost. With Fox Restaurant Concepts, you really can't go wrong in my opinion and I'll be back to Wildflower next time I'm in town for sure. read more

When I think of somewhere to go for a nice lunch with a friend or somewhere to take an out of town guest for dinner, I think of Wildflower. What a lovely restaurant! It's the perfect place to linger over a glass of wine, a good meal, and conversation. The ambiance of the patio is to die for, shaded and surrounded by trees and misters. The food is absolutely delicious, unique, and thoughtfully prepared. And they change things up so there's usually always something new to try when I stop in every few months. I've never had a bad meal here! The servers are always friendly and prompt, and they make sure your experience is perfect. read more

It's very hard not to give this restaurant 5 stars. Their service is great, atmosphere is classy casual, and the food is delicious! I first came here with a few friends for their happy hour which goes until 6 pm. I do recommend to make reservations for the patio if you plan on coming in advance during the nicer months in early spring and late fall. This is a FRC (fox restaurant concept) but does not give the "chain like" feeling. For dinner, you definitely want to make reservations on the weekend. I did make the mistake of wandering in around 7:30pm on a Saturday night and the place was packed! The hostess greeted us and said it would be about a 45min wait. Due to the fact I favor their food than most in the area this was no problem. Until our name was called we were invited to take a place up at the bar and have some drinks--great decision! The bartenders were prompt and friendly, we almost didn't want to leave to go to our table. After we were seated the great service continued. They have a dish with chicken and linguine but I wanted to sub it for the steel head salmon. This was not a problem. Their menus change throughout the year based on food that is in season but a couple faves still have their place on the menu no matter what time of year it is. Definitely a must if visiting Tucson. read more

I love this restaurant. You can dine on the patio summer or winter and see the beautiful mountains. The service is good and the wait staff are very nice. I especially like the Happy Hour. This has been my favorite restaurant since I moved to Tucson even when I drove 30 minutes to get there. Now I live close by. Yea! The food is towards the California chic, like grilled asparagus bruschetta with goat cheese. What is not to like? I always eat outside and I mostly go by myself I feel very comfortable doing so. I have met friends there frequently and everyone has loved the food. Their wine choices were excellent. Update since I last visited. The Happy Hour menu has shrunk to steamed mussels. bruchetta, spiced nuts, and 1 other item which I have forgotten. The wine selection for Happy Hour is now a white or red italian table wine, that is all they would say. Everything else remains the same. Great service and good taste. But I would skip Happy Hour here. Go instead to the Armitage in La Encantada. read more

This review is strictly for service because the food was amazing and I have no complaints there!! Our waiter, Jeremy seemed polite when he first greeted us. We visited on a Sunday which was fairly busy but didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. After he asked for our drink orders and was practically in shock that we did not order wine, the service took a drastic turn for the worse. He took our order, pressed us repeatedly to order an appetizer. I mean asked us atleast 4 to 5 times before he would take our actual order. Then that was the last we saw of him for the next 30mins. Another server delivered our drinks, our bread, and even our meal. The food was outta control amazing and I would be more than happy to come back multiple times! Back to the service.... He finally showed up to our table and we were completely finished, out of water, and unfortunately upset with our experience. We asked for more water, which he seemed again, surprised and like we were being a burden to him. He had the hostess refill our drinks. Than we waited and waited and well... Waited... For him to return. During this time, the table next to us was visited repeatedly. I'm talking atleast 10 times. They were seated after us and left before us. They ordered appetizers, entrees, and dessert!! We wanted to see the dessert menu, so we asked for it.... BIG mistake! Another 15mins later our waiter came with the menu. By then, we were done! We asked for the check and wanted out! This time we waited 10mins for the check and another 6mins for him to come and get the payment!! He visited the 2 tables behind us multiple times while we waited for him to bring the check and take the payment. Its such a shame because the food was awesome!! I would suggest it to anyone! But the service makes you want to rethink visiting. read more

First of all, YUM! From appetizer to dessert, everything was phenomenal! We went for a birthday dinner and they were awesome about splitting checks, explaining the menu, and put together a really lovely birthday dessert platter. Our waiter, Lizzie, was absolutely awesome. She had great suggestions and was extremely friendly. The ambience is awesome, especially on a great Tucson evening with good weather. The patio is adorable and very cozy. I'm not sure if Wildflower is considered good by Tuscon standards, but after 3 visits I finally had to write a review. Of 3 people who dined here, all three had mediocre food at best. The paella was inedible being fishy and had to be sent back, and at $24 should have been perfect. The steak wasn't good quality. The hamburger was good as was the decor. However it was so noisy inside the main restaurant that our group at a 4 top couldn't hear one another. read more

Great Experience- called for directions and they were so pleasant on the phone and told me if I needed to call back for further directions they would be happy to help, hhmm, so far, impressed. Showed up at the door and there were 2 people holding it open for us with smiles on their faces and eager to have us there, hhmm, loved the reception. Sat at the table inside and Brandy (personable, professional, I think we'll stay for dinner) came by to introduce herself and take drink orders. Everyone was prompt, professional and pleasant,(what a concept). Now for dinner- WOW! food was excellent, hot food with great flavor and good portions without feeling like you over ate. Hubby had the Maple glazed short ribs with glazed carrots and horseradish mashed potato- not overly sweet or too much hosreradish (very important) I had the BBQ pork loin, mac n cheese, green beans and a slice of watermelon sprinkled witha hint of sea salt- the pork was not drenched in BBQ sauce also very important. Desert was the bars of sin, chocolate mousse with a crisp lil cookie crunch and a hint of hazel nut. They just renovated a year ago which, the decor didn't thrill me, but it won't keep us from going back either. One of our best eating experiences in Tucson so far without feeling like we had to drop a bundle even with 2 glasses of wine. Thanks to the staff for a great experience! read more
