White wine
Danny H.

Amazing little spot to grab a drink. Service was super fast and friendly. Really liked the whole vibe of place. Super calm and mellow.

Such a nice little winery we stumbled upon. We sat out on the screened in porch and the hostess was very nice and knowledgeable! They have wine sampling or you can get a flight of four (1oz pours). The wine was fabulous, but I do wish there was a larger dry red selection. Will definitely visit again on Friday for Wine After Work for live music and a food truc

Wine After Work on Friday nights, live music and a food truck!

Love the staff and atmosphere! Very homey, nothing too fancy, but definitely a place we love to visit. We go on Friday nights in the summer to "Wine After Work" and listen to live music on the lawn. A great place to meet up with friends in the Lafayette area!

When I first walked in, I was a little put off by the woman behind the bar who simply said, "Hi" and put two drink menus on the bar. I had never been here before so I wanted to look around and see what they offered. I was pleasantly surprised to see much more than just wine. They have cheese, crackers, local artists pottery and adorable wine related towels and clothing. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor venue is especially inviting with small clusters of tables for groups to enjoy their time together. I was especially pleased to have one of the owners, Kathy, step away from busy morning to chat with my Mother and myself about a local "hero". I do not drink alcohol, but I have friends that adore wine and there are enough "other" items here that I will be dragging them out "in the country" to get acquainted with my new find.

Tastings!

Good service!! Love the options for wine. I opted for a tasting (you get 5 for $6 --I think?) All of them were good except maybe 1 was a bit off. That is rare. I usually only like a couple. I ended up getting a glass of the red I liked. My second fav was the reisling (and I'm a red wine person). They have won awards which are on display. They have a gorgeous outdoor area/ seating area. It was a little busy for thurs evening. They have nice gifting merchandise. You can purchase cheese and meat but not to really eat there. They will provide utensils but it is not like an order to eat/kitchen situation. I bought some cute pet saying coasters. I got the chocolate bar to go with my glass of wine and it was perfect. The bottles were around $20. I plan to go back for a glass of reisling and maybe another tasting sometime. I didn't photograph the seating area since there were so many people sitting around. I almost missed the entrance because the sign wasnt that big.

This place has a great selection of wines made by a very talented team! The ambiance is very homey with lots of outdoor seating. I recommend the traminette and the blueberry. Recommend this place!

I had to travel north for a baby shower and decided to stop off and try this place out. Very cute and homey! Have a very nice selection of wines and a very friendly staff willing to offer selections and suggestions about the different wines that they offer. There is also a good choice of seating options so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine! Wildcat also has a good selection of cheese to pair with wine so it really makes for a great snack! Should you ever find yourself in Lafayette check this cute place out

Dog's allowed on property! Beautiful. Not a vineyard, they import their grapes and juice. Enjoyable winery. Great customer service.

Technically a winery because they sell house made wine, but grapes and juice are produced elsewhere. I was impressed with their selection. An assortment of white and red, from dry to sweet. The Reisling was surprisingly quite mild which was a nice surprise. However, most of their wines are on the sweeter side. We enjoyed the Lafayette Red on their beautiful grounds and took a bottle home. I thought their label was a great design and we had a great experience. They even allow dogs on the grounds and on the porch. The tasting experience was nice, the staff were knowledgeable and they offered pairings with crackers and chocolate. If you are still enjoying yourself after the tasting room closes - you don't have to shut it down, they allow you to keep the party going. Just be respectful and you can stay until your heart's content. Lol. Enjoy!

Can't wait to enjoy wildcat creek wine in warmer weather!

I've enjoyed their wine tasting each time I've been here. The owners & the people who work there are all very welcoming! We usually get the Steuben, Traminette & Aunt Minnie's Cherry Tree. Great place to go when you have friends visiting from elsewhere because the location is very convenient :)

Snacks with our wine!

We are visiting from Dallas, and when we saw there was a winery in Lafayette we had to check it out! The winery is located in a cute house with a spacious deck overlooking some beautiful scenery. We were able to sample five wines and opted to purchase a bottle of chambourcin as well as multi-grain crackers, havarti dill and cheddar cheese. We were provided with a couple of wine glasses as well as a plate and knife for the cheese. We sat out on the sunporch and enjoyed our wine and cheese. It was such a nice experience! After we finished our bottle we bought a few souvenirs. The staff was very nice and the bathroom was immaculate and adorable. They do not ship bottles, but we bought a couple anyways and will figure out how to get them back down to Texas. I highly recommend a visit!

This is the perfect place for a post-work glass of wine with friends! The winery is located on the edge of town, so it's probably about a 10-15 minute drive from most locations, but still secluded enough to feel like you're removed from the city. The staff is so incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. We did a tasting and then purchased a bottle to share. They also have snacks- crackers and Fair Oaks Farm cheeses available for purchase. You can bring your own food as well! We sat out on the porch and enjoyed the beautiful weather while winding down from a work day. They close at 6 on weekdays, so be sure to get there before 5 in order to enjoy your time! Definitely looking forward to the next visit as well as their Bluegrass, BBQ, & Blueberry Wine event on Saturday, May 20!

Glass of the Steuben enjoyed outside on a warm February day!

I chose all the red dry wines to try because that has always been my preference. I have tried some pretty good red dessert wine though. After the tasting we bought a few bottles of wine and some snacks that they sold there and sat and chit-chatted. The sommelier was very friendly and informative. The owner came in with his dog who was the hi-light of the visit. It is a beautiful building inside and out. The view is beautiful. The wine was delicious. They had packages of cheese and jerky in the refrigerator that were very good. The prices were affordable. Everyone was so friendly. Everything was clean, including the restroom. The decor was very nice. There was a huge map of the world on the wall where people could stick a in pin of where they came from. I stuck one in for my birthplace. It looks like people from all over the world have visited this winery. The parking lot was a little small, but there weren't very many customers there that day, so we easily found a spot. I will definitely try to get back here someday.

She was polite and engaging as she hustled to serve samples, make wine & slushee flights and...make food! Amanda ROCKS!! It's been a few years since we've been back. They moved the tasting from the house to a newer facility. The outside is attractive and open. Inside comfortably seated 30+ people. The winery has adopted a different "theme" every three months. This moments theme was the 80's. The whole place, including the restroom, was decorated in the 80's . Even the food menu and the slushee menu were 80's themed items. Very creative. Though this may not appeal to classic wine drinkers. White horse has a wide variety of wines to try. We focused on dry whites and reds. You won't find many unique tastes. However the standard brands (Pinot Gris & Noir) have good tastes with nice flavors. The glassware was very attractive to accent the wine. You need to try the custom made wine slushee flights if you want something other than a glass of wine. These look fun and very tasty

Confession: I'm not the biggest fan of Indiana wine. (This isn't actually a confession or a secret…read more I will gladly tell anyone who will listen that I don't like Indiana wine.) It's usually way too sweet for my palate, even the dry wine. But the wine I tasted at Urban Vines was really good! Could it be that I can no longer say that I don't like Indiana wine? If you like dry wine like I do, I suggest sticking to the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Those were the red wines that I chose for my wine flight, plus the Pinot Gris from the white wine section. These were all delicious and dry enough for me. (If we're really quibbling, they were still slightly sweeter than I like, but I realize Indiana wine can only go so dry.) Mostly, though, Urban Vines is ideal for people who like sweeter wines. The people who see "cotton candy" on the wine bottle and think, "Yes, this is what I want. I want my wine to taste like liquified sugar." That said, I did taste a sample of the Wine-A-Rita, which is a sweet wine infused with agave and lime, and served on ice. Whoo! That's a nice little sippin' drink. I could see killing a couple of glasses of that on a hot Indiana summer evening. I should also mention: The pours that they give you for the wine flights are generous! More than generous, actually. I am no wine lightweight, and I could feel the sweet and bitter fruits flowing nicely throughout my bloodstream by the time I took my last sip. Luckily, Urban Vines has food to offset all of the wine. I came for a pizza flight, but they weren't offering them when I visited, so I got the margherita pizza instead, which came with torn pieces of basil, marinated and roasted tomatoes, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. It was very tasty! They also offer things like boards (veggie boards, breadstick boards, cheese boards, meat boards), plus salads and desserts. They also offer brunch on the weekends. This is a pleasant little place to hang out and enjoy wine and food. It's also family-friendly -- they have a small playground that's near the patio seating, so you can relax and also watch your kids play. Urban Vines is a nice place to unwind with some wine and food, and just enjoy the day.

No yak milk (booo!), but there is wine. However, I must warn all of the people who prefer dry wine:…read moreThere is no dry wine here. It's all sweet. Even the driest of the wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon, is very sweet. So, if you love sweet wines, this place is for you! Right now, they are only pouring a Cabernet, a red blend, a Riesling and a sweet Rose. The grapes are imported, but Woolley Yak has their own vineyard, and the intention is that they will soon start producing wine from their own grapes. You can get a flight of wine, or a glass of wine, or a mimosa, and then you can take your wine outside with you as you explore the grounds. There are picnic benches here and there. There's also a food truck that sells four different types of grilled cheese sandwiches and handheld charcuterie cups. I think food is only available Friday through Sunday, though. I visited with children (well, a teen and an almost tween), but they are a good hang and will play on a playground with the best of them, so we headed straight for the nature play space. The playground was designed to encourage kids to engage in unstructured play, so it has a lot of natural elements all around, like tree stumps, hay bales and logs. My kids are "co-op kids" for life (their early years were spent at a nature-based cooperative preschool), so they thrive with this type of playground. There's also a tire mound to climb, a balance beam to balance on, and a basketball shooting station made from a grain wagon. There's lots of space to run around, and a few trees to climb, too. The big draw of Woolly Yak is the yaks! There are also Babydoll Southdown sheep, Kunekune pigs and chickens that live on the ranch. You can just sit on a bench and watch these animals do their things in their living spaces. Or, if you want a more up-close experience, you can purchase a ticket to one of the animal experiences, like storytime with sheep or tea with lambs. You can also experience brushing the yaks and giving them treats. If you didn't want to do any of those experiences, though, you could just visit the ranch to see the animals for free! There is no admission to enter the ranch or to park. It's a nice place to visit to stroll around and see what you can see.

The website mentioned sheep, chickens, and pigs, (as well as Yaks) I only saw the pigs and Yaks while I was there however I did not inquire about the other animals, So if you're going for the animals you may want to call as I'm not sure if the other animals are only out certain times.
