First off...Amanda is amazing! We went on an early afternoon. Amanda was the only employee in the house. She ended up with three nice size groups. She was friendly and full of smiles. She was polite and engaging as she hustled to serve samples, make wine & slushee flights and...make food! Amanda ROCKS!! It's been a few years since we've been back. They moved the tasting from the house to a newer facility. The outside is attractive and open. Inside comfortably seated 30+ people. The winery has adopted a different "theme" every three months. This moments theme was the 80's. The whole place, including the restroom, was decorated in the 80's . Even the food menu and the slushee menu were 80's themed items. Very creative. Though this may not appeal to classic wine drinkers. White horse has a wide variety of wines to try. We focused on dry whites and reds. You won't find many unique tastes. However the standard brands (Pinot Gris & Noir) have good tastes with nice flavors. The glassware was very attractive to accent the wine. We kicked off my wife's birthday weekend at Whyte Horse Winery and it was the perfect move. From the second we walked in, the vibe was friendly, fun, and welcoming. The staff treated us like queens and kept the energy up the whole time with smiles and great service. We had a front-row table for the live music. Samuel Harness is a great musician and gets you in your feels with his emotional vocals. The theme was full-on country glam with names like Southern Belles vs Tennessee Studs and the drinks and food were as creative as they were delicious. We tried the Southern Belle Spin Dip that hit the spot. The Pizza Flight came with four flavors: Nashville Hot, Tennessee Whiskey, Dream More, and a classic sausage. Everything was flavorful and sharable. The Coconut Wallen Whipped Country Pie slush tasted like vacation in a glass. For drinks, we loved the Dolce Peach which was sweet and fruity, and the Pear Apple wine was just as refreshing. The birthday drink was as pretty as it was tasty. The staff made it easy for us to try things. If we weren't sure, they asked a few questions and gave samples. We even took a bottle of their Chautauqua Red home with us. We're already planning our next trip and can't wait for warm weather so we can enjoy one of their outdoor events. I absolutely love Whyte Horse Winery! Its always a party! Love their themed event nights. We went to Barbie night and enjoyed the Barbie themed drinks. They were as delicious as they were pretty. the service is always first class, and I never mind standing in line because I know it's worth the experience of just ordering. Those ladies know how to enjoy their job, and their enthusiasm is contagious! The are so creative with the decor and themes, and really go all out to put it over the top. We randomly decided to come here while on a trip and couldn't have been happier with the experience. The food and drinks are great and the staff was fun and friendly. I had the Man N Black and my wife had the Dolly Parton to drink, both of which were delicious. For food she got the 3 biscuit flight and I got the Pig Pen. The biscuit were fresh made and crumbly and the pulled pork had a great flavor without being drowned in BBQ. I highly recommend stopping by. read more

Whyte Horse Winery is a fun place to try different wine based cocktail drinks, have some pizza, and listen to music on the lawn. We usually make this a special Sunday trip. Each month there is a new theme for the bar and the drinks. Our latest visit was during Harry Potter month and yes there are drinks for the kids. One misstep on this visit is they forgot to add the corn to our pizza that we paid extra for. We pointed it out and was told they would ""look into it" then never heard back. This place is always wonderful. The pizzas are amazing!!! We had a few of the specialty ones and I'd come back for those alone. One has pesto and chicken on it. It had been three years since we last visited Whyte Horse and we liked it then, and now, it is even better! Of all the wineries we have visited, this is the first to offer a flight of wine slushies! No matter what state or country I'm visiting, I always take time to wine taste. I was pleasantly surprised at the wine here at Whyte horse winery especially because I was expecting fruit wine. But their Malbec was jammy (not what I was expecting), red and black fruits with a taste of dark chocolate & the Pinot Noir was silky and on the lighter side. I was fortunate to meet the winemaker Amanda and give her my thoughts, and I totally enjoyed our conversation about California wine, Indiana wines and just what a great job she was doing. The other great find was there chicken, pesto, pizza, and when I say it was probably one of the best I've ever had, I mean it. I read the reviews on their pizza and they were spot on! This was a delightful place to spend time tasting wine. This family owned business has a couple vineyards in state (one behind their shop) and also get some grapes from California so that they can offer more dry wines than a lot of other Hoosier wineries. They don't just order pulp, they get the whole grapes and do all the processing themselves to control the process and flavors. After browsing through the shop looking at wines, cheeses, and artisan products (like sauces), I decided to have a tasting of six wines. (If you buy three bottles, the tasting is free!) I was pleased that I liked every wine I tried! That doesn't happen every place I go, so I was impressed. The family offers wine club options for regular customers that seemed to keep filing in during my visit. I couldn't believe how busy they were on a Thursday evening as the place kept filling with people. The owner did her best to keep up, but obviously, one server for a full house slows down the process. But everyone seemed to be relaxed and go with the flow. By far the best winery I have ever been to. I actually do not even like wine, but I really enjoy wine slushies! They had a few holiday slushies that were amazing. The whole winery is so pretty, the deck is huge. They have rocking chairs and plenty of seating outside. The drinks were awesome considering how cheap their prices are. Our FAVORITE Midwest winery. Unlike many wineries in the Midwest, Whyte Horse has mastered both dry and sweeter wines. The drys are smooth and appropriately bodied. The sweets are pleasantly sweet. They always seem to be improving their vintages. The staff is always fun and helpful and the owner is a gem--full of enthusiasm and love for her craft. We especially enjoy relaxing with a bottle and some cheese and crackers in their sunroom, or on the porch in good weather. They'll cut up your cheese and serve it on a pretty plate or board, so you can enjoy it with your wine. What a perfect way way to wile away an afternoon! We joined their "Wine Club," which provides 4 bottles of wine each quarter. As an added benefit, Wine Club members get a discount on everything--wine, cheese, gifts, etc. We love that! They also have events every Friday and lots of other special events. We haven't been here on Friday eves, as we are from out of state, but they look fun! They have a separate building adjacent to the wine tasting building. We've seen weddings, showers, reunions and all sorts of groups there. They also have a nice outdoor area with tables close to the vineyard. Neat place for weddings and engagements. We can't wait for each quarter to roll around so we have an excuse to come back. Stopped by this winery for a special event. The staff didn't acknowledge the bride, but other customers at the winery did. A few of us did the 5 wine testings for $3 and a few of us did the chocolate and wine testing for $10. We were crammed up by the bar, only 2 ppl fit from our party. We asked to sit at the table and the staff member helping us said that would be too difficult for her to serve us. Overall, the space was too small and poorly organized and the staff was rude and not very knowledgeable. read more

I visited this winery on a one-winery, after work dinner tour out of Lafayette on a Friday in August. I knew we would have some wine samplings and a buffet dinner. Beyond that this was a total crapshoot. When we arrived I was impressed - I thought I was going to be visiting a tiny farmhouse. This place is BIG. Looks like they built an all-new secondary building that houses a second tasting room and the winery operations. It was beautiful. The main, old building with the gift shop did look a bit small. We spent all our time in the newer building. Wine was not as sweet as most Indiana wineries which I appreciated a lot. They also had some "mixed drinks" which are wines with added flavors. Never seen that before and the coconut one was really delicious. Our sommelier was friendly and efficient. Wines were pretty good. The dinner buffet was catered by a company out of Lafayette. It was a taco bar. And it was a REALLY good taco bar. Did not expect that. Also didnt expect so many people. I thought it would be our tour and a smattering of others. No, people were showing up just for this taco buffet. There was tons of people. but on a nice night, there was also plenty of space outside and inside to eat. Outside there was live music. One-man band. And he put on a great show. The outdoor area is surrounded by corn fields with a small vineyard and cool gazebo out back to add to the ambience. Everyone in our group thought this place was just great. Oh and guess what? They have bathrooms :) This is worth driving from Lafayette just for the food, a glass of wine and chilling out. Outside small patio with only 3-4 tables. They also have some picnic tables off to the side of the house. We did the chocolate tasting paired with 4 sweet wines. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our wine. The server forgot about us. The wine and chocolate was ok, but nothing great. We won't return it just wasn't that great. read more

This is a cute little Winery located in Monticello Indiana just a few miles away from Indiana Beach and if you fly like we do only a short 20-minute trip in the airplane where the airport has a courtesy car that you can use to drive right down the road. They have a beautiful array of whites and rice and they even offered three different kinds of slushies the strawberry lemonade you can get in a Growler and take home with you let me tell you this is an awesome awesome Winery with a great selection to choose from they have some beautiful grounds where you can even open a bottle and enjoy the wonderful views and enjoy the peaceful quiet of northern Indiana. Hands down one of the best wineries in Indiana! It's the cutest old farm house and has some cute shopping with any wine themed item you could want. They also carry some great cheese and you could enjoy a cheese and cracker platter on the patio or front porch area. The tasting fee is $3 for 5 samples and it's a great deal. You can also purchase by the glass or bottle. I could easily spend hours here! If you are a fan of dry reds their Zin and Cab shouldn't be missed. Surprised I didn't take the chance to visit this winery when it opened up in my backyard years ago. Instead I decided to try it after I had moved away from Indiana, and when I was back on vacation. Certainly regret not coming out sooner. When they first built the place I was skeptical as to why anyone would want to build a winery in Monticello, but it's very clear it was a good move. Beautifully little winery with a small vineyard behind the main store. I remember what used to be there before this winery was built. An old shack with corn fields. I used to browse around that area and even played paintball back there a few times around that shack. Anyways on my visit I did some wine tasting, and it was free. Introduced to nearly almost all of their wines. I did paired tasting with my g/f and we split the wines allowing to us to get more tasting. We were there for probably an hour looking around and tasting. Great visit will be back for sure the next time I come back to Monti. If i still lived in Monticello this would be a regular spot for me to get wine. Really wish I would of taken advantage of it when I lived half a block from it. Ended up buying the red table wine Black Beauty, and their white Riesling wine. The Black Beauty is a red dessert wine with a touch of blackberries and sweetness. Don't typically like sugary wines, but this one isn't overly sweetened and taste great. The white Riesling is a semi-dry wine with the aromas of peach and honeysuckle. This was a good white wine. Nothing spectacular, but I would buy it again. read more

We actually joined a wine club and we live over 2 hours away. We plan to make the trip several times a year. I went in November with some friends. It's a cute farmhouse in the middle of no where Indiana. We tasted some good wines and enjoyed a couple bottles in the lounge. The winery can also be rented for private events for a reasonable rate and works with two caterers or you can bring in your own food. My only complaint is that it is too far from Lafayette but I think it is worth the drive (as long as you can find a DD). read more

So I'll admit, I had really low expectations for this place. It's in a tiny, nondescript town in Indiana. It's not well advertised...blah, blah. I was totally blown away and really happy with what I found. I tried at least 8 wines and all of them were the bomb. I am a dry red kind of dude but even the sweet wines meant business. We decided to stay for a bottle (the dolce white, try it..superb) and bought some cheese-- only to find out they were out of crackers.. Visited with my husband and mother. The grounds were beautiful and well kept up. In the middle of the vineyard was a gazebo where weddings are held. The inside of the house was very well decorated. They have a gift shop where novelty items about wine can be purchased. Bring your ID they will card you, no matter how old you are. Each person can taste 6 different wines for free. The server was very knowledgeable on what foods go with the different wines. I would recommend this winery to anyone. Very enjoyable visit. read more

I visited the winery today with my mother and girlfriend. It was busy but we got a seat right away. We waited for about 20 minutes and no service. We watched the servers serve everyone else, including people walking in after us. There were 2 groups that came in after us who were served right away, got their drinks and even payed their tab and left before we even got anything. Finally we said something to one of the servers at the counter, she sent someone over and got our order finally. We waited another half hour and still no drinks yet the other groups that were coming in afterwards were already on their second round. Im not much to play the race card but this felt like weren't being served for that reason. I use to recommend this place to people but honestly I'm very disappointed in the way we were treated and unless you're caucasian And okay with other races being treated like they're lesser beings than DO NOT visit this establishment read more
