This iconic ice-cream place has been around since 1950. I'm sure the locals love it as it generally has a line. I'm here for a week visiting my great-aunt, who lives on the side street and grew up here. The only time I've ever not seen a line is when they're closed. I think Frankfort is prime for an upscale burger place. While I can appreciate the real milkshakes, they couldn't get my burger order correct. The fries are superb. Crunchy and hot! The burger was good. Better than any fast food here. This is takeaway only. I'm dismayed that they haven't claimed their Yelp profile. Locals don't need it, but those who travel through? Soft serve cones are super creamy. They are small however. The food is actually more of a value, but it is very good soft serve. There is a nice covered patio with picnic tables. A drive thru. Growing up in Frankfort and working nearby, Milky Way has been a great little dessert and food stop for as long as I can remember! As a kid, I'd walk a mile from my grandparents' house just to get a tangerine twist (soft serve tangerine sherbet) - it's THAT good! As a kid, dessert was my main focus - let's face it, that's pretty typical! I have had lots of their ice cream dessert items, and I've never been disappointed! Now, as an adult, I have tried more of their dinner/main course items. Their tacos are FANTASTIC. I am pretty confident they make their taco sauce in house, and you can get tacos made mild, medium, or hot. My delicate taste buds are selective with spiciness, so I always err on the side of mild. It's yum-o! Now, tenderloins are practically a state food of Indiana - well, at least of Clinton County. I have definitely had my fair share. So it's pretty easy to find tenderloins on a menu in the area, and Milky Way is no exception. I've had it a few times, and I have to say it's not my favorite tenderloin. It's good but not great. Its taste seems to vary by the day. Sometimes it's seasoned well (with salt), other times it's bland. Consistency would do it well, but at least it is generous in size and usually juicy (not dry). In all, I love this place and will definitely continue to frequent Milky Way when in town - just will skip the tenderloin for the tacos and tangerine twist! read more

The Milky Way is a Frankfort staple. I want so badly to give it a 5 star, but the reality is that sometimes (a lot) the service is REALLY slow and the prices are pretty outrageous. With that being said, there is hardly a time that I am back in Frankfort that I don't stop by. I love the vanilla cokes & rootbeers, the tacos (with house-made taco sauce) and the flurries (my personal fave is Oreo & cookie dough mixed.) The ice cream is really smooth and good. I have been enjoying Milky Way for more than 30 years. In my opinion it's one of the cornerstones of Frankfort, including Case Arena and the football stadium.
