If you love a little hole in the wall that serves great comfort food, then try The Vintage Cafe. We…read morelearned about the cafe on Yelp. When we drove up we were uncertain as it was a little gray building among other storage buildings. But there were about 50 cars surrounding the building. Good sign. Let me be clear, this is not upscale or trendy, but salt of the earth. There was a short line for tables. The place was hopping. The walls were covered with images of Hollywood stars. Many handwritten signs and boards described deserts, specials and featured items. We found seats within 15 minutes. The menu is filled with breakfast and lunch items that are served all day. There are quirky fun items such as sauerkraut balls (which are hand made), pickle fries and stuffed tater tots. The Memorial Day special lunch included a hot dog, hamburger slider, watermelon and a side for $8.99. The slider and watermelon called out to me. When the plate came, I wasn't expecting so much food. The slider was amazing. There were 2 smash burger patties on a nice bun with cheese, sauce and pickle. The slider was good. The slice of watermelon was massive, refreshing and fun. The homemade coleslaw is creamy and delicious. My husband ordered the Breaded Tenderloin. OMG, that tenderloin was about twelve inches in diameter and came with a large roll that dwarfed the pork. The pork was thick with a great peppery breading. He only ate half and took the rest home. We shared an order of the stuffed tater tots that were filled with potato, jalapeño, onion and cheese. Oh man, those are addictive. As we were finishing up, the owner of the restaurant approached our table. Kate Rhine has been owner/cook of The Vintage Cafe for four years. She's been a home cook since she was in fourth grade. She was cheerful and wanted to know how I liked the Memorial Day Special since I was the first to order. I loved the meal. the burger was great and watermelon and coleslaw refreshing. The hot dog was going home with us. Our server, Felicia, was great. She helped describe the menu, was attentive, super friendly and kept water glasses full. Even the fella bussing the tables was amazing and friendly. It was clear these folks were hustling to keep up with the crowd. This cafe is fun and delicious. I can't wait to go back. Thanks, YELP reviewers for leading the way.

The tiny restaurant was packed with a line waiting for a table for New Year's Eve lunch. The wait was short, maybe 10 minutes. The place is not fancy or upscale - just salt of the earth. The tables are covered in Formica and clean. It was loud inside with all tables filled and people in a festive mood. People seemed to know each other. Homemade pies filled a case $3.75 a slice. We sat in a comfy booth. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast and lunch items. They're famous for their one pound hamburgers. I ordered the daily special Rueben Sandwich with fries and coleslaw for only $9.50. What a deal! My meal was huge. The Rueben was on toasted marble rye. There was plenty of corn beef, sauerkraut, cheese and sauce. The fries were nice and hot. The coleslaw was thin sliced and sweet. I finished my meal with a slice of Lemon Meringue pie. The slice was generous and I shared it with my husband. Krista, our server was friendly and attentive. Drink orders are taken quickly. Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. The staff was hustling to keep up with the packed house. They have daily specials and a kid's menu. Parking is limited in their small lot but there is nearby street parking.

I don't like chain restaurants, and I'm a big supporter of small business if the price is right. This diner is probably typical of small towns, quaint, and good service. You can tell locals like it by the way the waitresses know their names. Food is above standard and the coffee is just the way I like it. None of the perfumy crap. I've been here twice so far.
