Today's meal featured the worst rice ever served and the rest looked average and tasted below average. Queso and beans were lukewarm. The chips and salsa was the only redeeming menu item. Normally I list the positives and negatives, but I really didn't have anything negative to say. Ambiance - one word... FUN!!! It's well decorated and just a lively atmosphere. Bright lights but also decor of a Mexican temple. They had fun, vibrant almost Latin Club music playing so it was upbeat and lively. Service - the service was great. I had seen some reviews complaining but we had nothing to complain about. On a Saturday night at 7:30 we were seated immediately. The waiter took drink orders, came back to get food orders, and checked on us throughout our visit. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Food - probably some of the best Mexican food I've had!! The chips. - nice and thick and crisp. Could have used more salt but I know many places allow people to salt to their own taste. Homemade Hot Sauce - great flavor and a good amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. Ribeye Tacos - delicious. The onions and jalapeños were cooked perfectly. Even the rice was some of the best I had. Highly recommend putting some of the house hot sauce on it. Pastor street tacos - another delicious dish. The combination of the pastor and pineapples with cilantro and onion was perfect. Fajita Salad - had a bite of my daughter's food and it too was good. A good combination of vegetables and meat that I would consider for next time. Overall I would love to stop back here another time if I'm passing through Lafayette. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend you do!!

I was pleasantly greeted by the lone worker I saw, and sat in a booth. An uncomfortable one where the benches sit strangely far from the table. The menu was in Spanish, so it wasn't that easy to understand. I know most basic food terms in Spanish, but not the more interesting ones - and I like to order interesting. So I settled for a two taco platter and a tostada. I believe the person who took my order also cooked it. I didn't see him between my ordering and him bringing the food out. The tacos I chose were lingua & pastor, served on their homemade tortillas. The tortillas were excellent. Pastor was the best item - true Mexican taco with cilantro & onion. The lingua seemed a little undercooked compared to what I usually see. Only had a couple bites - tasted pretty bad. Accompaniments of rice and beans were fine. Rice was a little more flavorful than your typical Mexican restaurant rice. My final item was a Shrimp tostada. Again the shell was excellent, but then it was covered in what tasted like tartar sauce, had shrimp * lettuce sprinkled on it, topped with plentiful avocado slices. The flavor of this dish was just not good. Sauce was kind of gross. Bad item. This is the something like the 14th "real" Mexican place I've eaten at in town. It is certainly in the lower half, quality-wise. I would suggest trying one of the many other ones around.
