It's sort of a berry flavor with a hint of honey. It's really good!!! $4 for a single scoop isn't outrageous considering everything else in the state of Alaska is pretty hefty. Plus, you automatically get a waffle cone without having to pay extra for it. :) Wild Scoops has a few bar spots near the window and two benches outside, but other than that, there's really nowhere to sit. This review is long overdue, precisely 3 years overdue. Chanced upon this place on the first leg of our trip to Alaska and enjoyed it so much that we ensured we visited again before leaving. They have the most amazing flavors (Wild blueberry is my favorite) and the perfect ice cream, creamy, tasty and delicious! The roasted marshmallow topping is simply the best! The best part about Wild Scoops is the Baked Alaska topping. A friend recommended that we come here and get a Baked Alaska ice cream, if we could. We'd post a photo, but it looks like every other Baked Alaska topping photo. There were some interesting flavor options. I tried a taster of the spruce tips. It ... tasted like spruce tips. While it's an interesting flavor, I'm not sure that I want an entire ice cream cone of it, but I appreciate having a taste. We went with the Mango Malasada, which was quite nice. The line was quite short (1 person) when we arrived. It was a cooler day, but in Colorado, Josh and Johns has an ice cream-o-meter card where we get more punches for buying ice cream as it gets colder/snowing, so cool weather says GET ICE CREAM! Great little shop in Anchorage! There was a line out of the door when we drove past, in 35 degree March weather, and that's how we knew we had to stop. When you walk inside the smell of the waffle cones is the first thing you'll notice. You can't help but get a cone once you've tried a few flavors and made your decision. My children told me that we needed to come here for ice cream. The location we went to was rather tiny, and had minimal seating, but we were told the other location was larger. There were minimal choices of flavors but the ice cream was good regardless! It seemed very family oriented and the staff were friendly and courteous. I first fell in love with Wild Scoops at the South Anchorage Farmer's Market. I'm so excited they now have a brick and mortar store. I attended the grand opening last month, and the line was well worth the wait. The ice cream quality is top-notch. Creamy, smooth, and sweet. I love the unique flavors and how they use local ingredients. I tried the Yukon Gold flavor at the grand opening, which is sweet cream ice cream with homemade fudge and potato chip toffee. I'd never tried ice cream with potato chips so I wasn't sure what I would think, but it was delicious. The sweet and salty flavors compliment each other very well. My latest favorite is Rhubarb Crumble, which is lightly spiced sweet cream with homemade rhubarb jam and an oat crumble. I look forward to trying more flavors (fingers crossed that they come out with a fireweed flavor). Definitely worth trying a scoop or two if you're downtown or happen to see them at one of the farmer's markets. read more
