I was out for an adventure with my 9 year old great niece and asked her what she would like to do . The first thing on her list was get ice cream . We looked on Yelp and I gave her a list of the ice cream places we were close to . She immediately chose Baskin Robbins . The service was good . The employees were friendly and the ic cream was good . Back when the BR by my house had the 3 for $12 pre-packed quarts it was too easy to "pack-on" the pounds, pun intended. Of course they didn't offer it at this store. Still, the pre-packed quarts are the cheaper alternative to a scoop. Jamoca almond fudge, Rocky Road and Gold Medal Ribbon are my 3 top choices. Service was fast but friendly. I've been to this location for the occasional ice cream treat for years and love the product and service. You get what you expect when you walk into a BR: lots of choices between flavors be it a simple cup/cone or fancy cake for something special. They do a great job: friendly well trained staff under new management. I keep it simple: love their mocha Blasts. Went by a couple of days ago and was sad to see that they were hit by vandalism and in the process of replacing windows. If you want a great BR experience, this is a good place to get it! read more

I had not been here in over a year. I had the same experience most people did. Slow service which caused long lines if more than two people showed up. And most of all the ice cream smelled old or maybe smelled freezer burned - I don't know. It is hard for me to be specific.... This BR, on Denali Street, does not deserve anybody's business and certainly NO stars (I had to give one to post my review.). We are not officially in a recession, but their prices went up when all the concern started justifying an increase because of a claimed increase in their costs. Everyone is spending about 5% more on everything right now. But these people are greedy. Dollar signs spin in their eye sockets. They are blatantly taking advantage of their customers, and not even trying to hide it, by making excessive profits over and above what this "not-yet-officially-a-recession climate" would deem reasonable. The business is using the inflation excuse to raise their product prices as they wish now to a level that is obvious and blatant price-gouging. How do I know this? I went in yesterday to buy a quart of ice cream which cost about $8.50 a couple of months ago. NOW THAT SAME QUART COSTS $13.00.... a 52.94% increase!!!!! Price-gouging doesn't get much worse than this. What they are doing should be against the law and they should be held accountable by all of us who have frequented this location by refusing to do any business with them whatsoever again. With everyone working in unison, objecting together in the form or a strike of sorts, we can let them know this will not be tolerated in Anchorage. read more

I went here for dessert after a family dinner with the parents and my visiting uncle. This Baskin Robbins is located in the same shopping center as Summit Tea and Spice Co. across from Denny's on the corner of Benson and Denali. Initially, I was concerned about coming here based on the large number of negative reviews from fellow Yelpers, but our experience here wasn't that bad. The seating area has a decent amount of space and it was clean when we came in. They had seating outside of the shop but they had to do away with it because of loiterers from the street that would sit there for hours and it became a consistent problem with paying customers. We were fortunate to snag a corner table before a lot of people started coming in a few minutes after we arrived. The employees that had helped us that night were quick to help us out and we had no issue with waiting. All of us ordered ice cream in cups rather than cones to minimize the mess of using a lot of napkins when it started to melt. My parents and uncle ordered one scoop each of the Sugar-free Pineapple Coconut and the Classic Chocolate. I opted for the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and the Baseball Nut which had vanilla-flavored ice cream with cashews and a black raspberry ribbon. The ice cream was good although not as good as Cold Stone Creamery, my favorite place to go for a cold treat. Their birthday cakes are a popular item and they have a good variety of shakes, sundaes, parfaits, and pre-packed quarts. Some of the more interesting flavors I've tried in previous visits not just here in Anchorage but in the Lower 48 are the Gold Medal Ribbon (vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a caramel ribbon swirl), Icing on the Cake (cake-flavored ice cream with pieces of birthday cake, frosting bits, and a candy confetti ribbon), the Oreo Malt Madness (chocolate malt ice cream loaded with pieces of Oreo cookies and a chocolate cookie sea salt ribbon), and the S'more the Merrier (marshmallow ice cream with milk chocolate chips and a ribbon of graham cracker pieces). Our experience here was alright and the ice cream was decent enough. I still prefer Cold Stone in terms of flavor and quantity even though their prices are a little more. Customer service here is poor and yes they have increased the price of ice cream. Management always never smiles and if they do it seems fake. They do not honor any online coupons even if it says from Baskin Robbins. The girl that served us had poor customer service, maybe just a bad place to work or it's her first job.... No excuse. For my birthday we got an ice cream cake and a multilayered Sundae. It was so good and so rich! We were served right away. Although this location have lots of seating tables, we had our orders to go. Every year I come to alaska for vacation i notice my recent visit a week ago to this place on denali, after 3 days I finally just gave up, place is filthy, dirty , a gal that was working the counter was rude , I try to make small conversation but she didn't speak but to me or acknowledge me as a customers, not a friendly atmosphere at all. my 2nd visit there i took my whole family, my husband is african american as well as my kids my son wanted the waffle cone , a picture of it was posted on the wall, i ask the girl and she said oh we are out, so we had to order something else , while we were standing in line ordering my husband paid for our stuff and we sat down and ate about 5minutes later a white girl came in and order the same waffle cone , this young girl made her a waffle cone and when i seen that I was so upset I went up to the counter and address it with the young girl, and my family and I left .I will never ever recommend this baskin robin to anyone or my family and for any other basking robin here in alaska.Alaska is a beautiful place but its a lot of ignorant & racist people out here. read more
