I am including the following for transparency and as a word of caution regarding this 2016 Harley-Davidson XL1200 Sportster and my experience with Wild Prairie Harley-Davidson in Eden Prairie, MN. I purchased the bike on March 5, 2024 with 15,253 miles. Over the next year I added approximately 10,000 miles and kept up with regular maintenance throughout ownership. At the time of purchase, I also bought what is presented as the Harley-Davidson Extended Service Plan (administered by Continental Service Provider), with the understanding that it would provide meaningful coverage in the event of a major mechanical failure. On July 29, I began a trip from Minneapolis to Sturgis. The ride was uneventful through Worthington and Sioux Falls, and I continued west on I-90 at normal highway speeds (80 mph). After roughly 140 additional miles, near Chamberlain, SD, the engine suddenly lost power. A rider behind me observed smoke and flames exiting the exhaust. I immediately shut the engine down and coasted to a stop, at which point the engine had seized and would not restart. Due to the timing during Sturgis Rally, Rapid City Harley-Davidson was unable to take the repair. I incurred over $700 in towing costs, along with approximately $600 in additional travel expenses (rental car, hotel, and return flight). The motorcycle was ultimately returned to Wild Prairie Harley-Davidson in Eden Prairie, MN, where I was informed the failure was due to a blown wrist pin and catastrophic piston damage. I was also told there was no maintenance-related action that would have prevented this failure, and that this type of failure is considered extremely rare. The repair estimate was approximately $11,000, which exceeds the value of the motorcycle. The Harley-Davidson Extended Service Plan only covered up to the market value of the bike (approximately $6,000), leaving a substantial remaining balance. At the time, I still owed approximately $5,000 on the loan. I was offered approximately $3,000 for the motorcycle toward the purchase of a new bike, which would have required rolling negative equity into another loan. While I was told this was essentially a "once in a lifetime" type of failure, my experience was that there was little effort made to stand behind the product or build customer loyalty after the fact. Given that this failure occurred after roughly one year of ownership and consistent maintenance. read more

After receiving several quotes, they made me a fair enough offer for not having the hassle of selling it myself, then did the bait and switch after I had it trailered there 70 miles and dropped off because I couldn't drive it. They now have it listed for a crazy 100% profit! I'm telling all my rider friends and bike clubs I'm associated with. I have 30 years experience in the car biz and know how these things work. They're shady, unkind and unethical for taking advantage of my situation. God knows what they do to other customers. Please work with a good, reputable dealer. Not this one. Ever. read more

Our Ultra Limited was returned from WPHD this past Saturday and I'm very disappointed. It was sent in for new tires, heated grip replacement and service for riding season. $2,100.00 and a month later, it comes back looking like it sat in the rain....full of water spots, even though we had a free wash and buff coupon! WE bought the bike two years ago and decided to pay an additional $2,800.00 for the VIP Passport Service plan.The first time we used it (last year for spring) was great. Bike was picked up, serviced and BANG, brought back in what seemed like a couple of days. This year....way different story! Decided to replace the Dunlops with Michelins after talking to a couple of people and doing some research. Phil, in service, tried to sell me the Dunlops anyway, saying we wouldn't be happy with the Michelins. Also, I asked aout the bike running lean, to which Phil recommended a Stage 1 kit saying there's no way to adjust it. Since we already have Kirker exhaust, he said it would just need a tuner and bigger air cleaner, "since you have the VIP, a good amount should be covered." Told him to send me a quote. Estimate came in at $3,106.48 for everything! It even included $724.00 for new exhaust. When I questioned the exhaust, Phil said that was an error, that he was doing an identical quote that included new exhaust. Told him just to do the tires, grips and service, should've been about $1,500.00. Received an email from Phil stating the shop found "issues" and I should call. Phil said they found the bike needed brakes, front bearings and that the clutch and brake fluid had 4% water in them....recommended flushing. All of this would bring the total to $2,100.00. All this left us wondering why we paid and additional $2,800,00 for "VIP" Service? We sure haven't gotten $2,800.00 woth of work out of them? Also, after dropping $2,100.00 this spring, the bike should have been brought back shining like new! Finally, they advertise that they are the home of the "free tire install," yet when I priced another shop for the same tires and install, there wasn't that big of a difference. We are really going to have to think twice about bringing the bike back for any more service. When looking for our next bike, a dealer's focus on customer service will be our priority read more

I was sized for a helmet by two different staff at the Eden Prairie store. After stating several times it was tight, I was repeatedly told that it would break in after a couple of wears. It is a miserable fit. When I spoke to the manager, she stated that she would have handled it differently, but basically "too bad." After numerous attempts, Dale Rhodes (owner), Ben Paisley, and customer service refused to return my communication. After reaching out to the franchise as well as their customer service, I was ignored as well. Truly disappointed with the Harley Davidson customer service. read more

This is a floundering dealership with few if any bikes and virtually NO parts in stock, whatever part you want, they are out of stock, in addition they have few if any new bikes, there inventory consists of overpriced used bikes. It seems as though Harley has decided to stop producing bikes and just sell used stuff. Indian on the other hand is focusing on selling new bikes. I'm off to Indian. F these guys!!!!! read more

Phil and Alec in Service Rocked! I have to say that I am a little late getting this review written, but I figure better late than never. I was working on my front wheel this summer, when one of the studs on the right side fork snapped off. Needless to say, I was super bummed. I called Wild Prairie and spoke with Phil in service. He said he thought they could get it out and replaced for about $170. Well I thought that was awesome, but I have had quotes before that did not ring true. Either way I had my bike trailered down to the store. I stopped in a few days later to check on the status of my bike. It was up on the lift and Alec, the tech was just getting started on it. He said he also thought he could get the stud out. After a short discussion, I decided to have both of the studs in the right front fork replaced (total cost of about $195), a new rear tire put on, and oil change, and a cracked bracket replaced. When my bike was finally down, they not only washed it, but scrubbed all the white rubber (hand grips, floor boards, brake pedal and shifter pegs) along with my white walls till the looked new. And best of all the bill came in right where I thought it should! And how often does that happen at a Harley store!! They restored my faith in their service department. So if you need some work done, go see Phil and Alec at Wild Prairie. read more

I bought my second motorcycle and my first Harley- a 2015 Street CG750. I ordered a back rest after I had taken out the loan, and the loan company said that it wouldn't give me the extra $400 for the backrest. Instead of telling me that I can't get one right now, they lowered the cost of the warranty and asked I put more money down. I thought this was awesome- it wasn't the best discount in the world, but they knew how much I wanted the backrest and made accommodations for me. I left the dealership with the Dealer license plate still on, so they called me back for that (make sure you get them to take that off so you don't have to come back). While I was there, I told them about my left rear turn signal, because they night I took it home I noticed it was falling off and could see that it had been attached only my super glue before. They looked at it and ordered new parts for me on the spot- free of charge. My bike came with a driver backrest, but I couldn't take it out because it was bolted down. When I went back to exchange the plate, they loosened it up for me so then I could just pull it out. This was a huge relief to me as well. Everyone here was awesome. I worked with Jeanette, Josh, Teresa, and Aaron. They make you feel comfortable and treat you like family. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. read more

This place has grown on me in a very short amount of time. I remember before the new ownership you couldn't pay me to step foot in that store or St Paul Harley. What I love about this place is it's very warm and friendly staff, everyone greets you with a smile always willing to help. And if you want to get a bike what better person to get it from then Jeanette she will hold your hand through the entire process and she explains the everything so you aren't left in the dark at all. Jeanette is very helpful, friendly and is super down to earth, and best of all she will get the job done. Mignon and Nina in apparel will get you whatever you need and have you looking great in whatever gear you want, if it isn't there they will order it. And Justin makes sure he keeps the great staff around so that the experience is great each and every time. Extremely disappointed! I paid for an MVP service from this location for a little extra discount on parts and merchandise. Turns out they cancelled this without telling anyone and further, won't offer any kind of compensation. You want to cancel a paid service, fine. But at least either refund our money or offer something in exchange. You think I'm going to trust your business going forward? You lost a good customer... there are other places to shop. read more

Stopped into Wild Prairie while in town for work and they have a large selection of HD apparel and the staff was very friendly.

WPHD is one of the friendliest dealerships I've even been in. You are given a warm greeting seconds after walking in the door and you really get a 'family' vibe while you're there. The sales staff is super friendly and really make you feel at home. I went in to get some custom work done on my bike and before going through with it, they actually recommended some better looking options that were actually cheaper than what I was planning on. I've been patronizing this dealership since I bought my bike a couple years ago. I've been to Twin Cities and Faribault; not to say they aren't good dealerships, but I found Wild Prairie HD was a better experience. I've had extensive work done the past two winters and find the service staff excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable. Dealing with Wild Prairie HD is the best thing since Belmont's closed. read more

I give the place 1 star only because I have to. Went in with the intention of getting my 1990 soft tail oil changed, tune up, and buy a new bike for my girlfriend. The service department said that they won't work on my bike because it is too old. Really?! basic service work and they wouldn't do it. They said they were to busy and would only work on older bikes in the winter. I guess they only cater to a certain crowd. Won't be spending my money there on service or the new bike. read more

Very disappointed in this dealership. I purchased a bike at the fair had to wait a few days for them to deliver, no problem, set a date and time. Now of course my new toy is coming so I take off work early so I can be there when it gets dropped off. 2-5pm they said I'm there at 2:15. 5:30 still nothing, no bike no call. I call and they get back to me to let me know bike wasn't running. Now I dont have an issue that they wanted it to be right but should have been called so I dont have to lose out on pay. Finally get bike next day, it shows up not strapped down correctly and is lying down on the right exhaust and bag, the side away from kick stand, driver said he would let someone know when he got back. I took his word for it. Didnt hear anything for 2 days finally someone calls me for a different issue and I let them know what happened told me I would get a call back from the service manager. We are on day 4 and still nothing. Terrible customer service I wouldnt send anyone to this Harley dealership read more

In general i was happy with the results of three service cycles although they are pricey. Each time i requested a transmission oil change along with the regular oil change on my sportster. I even asked to be sure they did since the same oil is used so you are not charged separately. This summer i did 8,000 miles so I decided at the 5K mark to change the oil myself to save some money. I discovered that pretty much all the screws on the clutch inspection cover were stripped and there was no way to take it off. I don't say that they did it but i am wondering how they did the clutch inspection and adjustment and how they made sure they put the right amount of oil without taking the cover off. Probably they did not bother and just drained it and pure new one by measure from the chain inspection hole. Not pleased about this. i would have gladly paid the extra money if they had said that they would have to extract the screws and put new ones. read more
