We have been going to Cambria for years and finally tried this place. The food was excellent! Loved the Vietnamese Caramalized Prawns. They have some very unique menu items and Cal-Asian accurately describes their food. read more

We ordered our food and payed. Then the owner who rang us up told us it was going to be a 40 minute wait. We probably wouldn't have ordered if she had told us before but it wasn't a big deal. We walked around downtown for a little bit and returned to get our food 40 minutes later. We sat down and waited for 40 more minutes. Pad Thai was okay but curry could barely be considered curry. Overpriced for quality and no food is worth that wait. read more

The roasted fig salad I had was exceptional, but the pad tai was under-whelming. Steep prices and inconsistent - not my favorite combination. read more

Decent food with really nice service. This place is tiny - more the size of a coffee shop, but they make it work. The star rating is mainly for the pricing - everything was fine, but was priced as gourmet food when I would categorize it more as a regular casual spot. I would say a $14 entree of fried chicken in sauce w/rice and veggies should have been more like $9-$10 if I go off what I'm used to, but I get that this is a small town and choices are slim. Good spot if you feel like eating something that isn't American in town. read more

The food was excellent, nice small cozy restaurant. It was raining the night we came (xmas !) so unfortunately none of the outside tables could be used so the wait for available tables inside was long but totally worth it. Happy to have an Asian dining option available in the area that we can sample again on our next visit. Owner and staff were all very nice and pleasant in what was a very hectic and crowded Xmas night for dinner. read more

I'm giving it only 3 stars because it's good food but not great and a little spendy for what You get. I think the plates should be about 5 $ less than what the charge. I ordered the pork chow fun. And my husband had the green curry chicken. We both agree the were good but lacked in heat and flavoring for the meat. Our service was good. The food was a little slow but the veggies were fresh. read more

Yummmm... Fijian Fish Lolo and Szechuan green beans will not disappoint you! Second time eating here and we have never been disappointed!

My girlfriend and I found this looking for vegetarian and vegan options. After a lot of mediocre food around the area, this was a welcome change since the food was fresh and well-presented. Cute and small place with friendly service. read more

A visit to Cambria is not complete without a stop at Wild Ginger. The owner Deborah is very personable and warm and always makes us feel welcome. Yes, the place is tiny and is unique unto itself and prices are comparable to other Cambria establishments. We find it charming. My fav dishes are the smoked salmon won tons, Vietnamese BBQ pork, and the cheese chili rellenos. Ingredients are always fresh, presentation delightful, and the house specials interesting. We are definitely hooked on Wild Ginger...can't wait to go back. read more

What a gem on the Calif coast I have even seen Hollywood stars in there and they said they drove up from Santa Monica just for it. Trick I learned is to eat off blackboard daily specials though whole menu is good. Now offering number of Asian Fusion dishes Not only Thai food read more

UHMAZING! My husband and I are currently in Cambria for a mini-honeymoon and decided to stop by Wild Ginger tonight because I love Pad Thai. Well oh my goodness it was such an amazing place and so happy we chose it! The food was DELICIOUS and you could tell was made with fresh ingredients and with lots of care. The mango sorbet was absolutely incredible, I've never had sorbet that truly tastes like the fruit! They take special care with their food here John Cruz was our waiter and he was beyond amazing. So thoughtful and extremely helpful and really made the experience! If I had a day to live and were given one last meal choice I would drive from Bakersfield to eat here!! Check it out, you won't regret it. read more

Came here after reading so many good reviews but for me and my friends, This place was extremely disappointing. The food was extremely distasteful, lacking all spices and needed flavours. Soup seemed like a diluted curry with semi cooked veggies thrown into it! The serving portions are very less, especially for the crazy prices! Service also lacked warmth and courteousness! Won't ever recommend this place to my friends! read more

Came as a recommendation from a Hearst castle employee. It was smaller than I expected, and rather a tight fit. We ordered the tom kah Kai soup which was a lovely balance of tastes, and a curry panang chicken special which was nicely presented and also deliciously prepared. Ambiance is lacking, but the food is delicious and definitely cooked by an expert. read more

Just being honest.... This place was recommended to us from the place we were staying. We arrived around 6:15pm on Friday night and there was just one other couple in the dining area and a group of about 8 in the patio. We ordered two very simple items; chicken satay and chicken pad thai. Pretty common and pretty easy fare for this type of place (you would hope). When ordering our food, I joked with the owner about one of the specials on their board for the day. I said "Ha, I have never seen a chile relleno at a Thai restaurant before". She immediately quipped back with "This is not a Thai Restaurant!!!!!". Hmmmm.... I guess I should have taken that as a sign. After about 30 minutes after ordering, the owner walks by and says "your food will be out soon". At the 50 minute mark, yes five-oh, nearly an hour, I told my wife that we were out of here as nothing had even been served to us. I told the server that I was sorry but this was just taking too long and we would be leaving. She said "OK, I am sorry" and we left. Before we got to the sidewalk the server came out and said "your food is being plated up right this second if you would like to stay". BAD MISTAKE - we stayed. The chicken satay was very dark in color (not burned or anything) like it had been soaking in soy sauce for days that it was nearly black. We thought it was maybe beef. It then was so sweet and so much ginger that it was just terrible. I have had a lot of Pad Thai in my time, all over the world, I am even pretty good at making my own. But I have to say that this was the absolute worst that I have ever had. It tasted liked steamed noodles, no pad thai sauce whatsoever. And then it had broccoli, cauliflower, peas (not snow peas) and large carrot coins; NOT normal pad thai ingredients. It was more of a noodle stir fry. It cost $20 for a tiny portion! I have had far better pad thai at farmers markets before. This wasn't worth $5. The server could clearly see that we had barely even touched our food and didn't even say one thing about it (she must be used to seeing that). There is nothing that pisses me off more than spending my hard earned money and my time on terrible food and service. What a disappointment to the beginning of a nice weekend. read more

prawn curry is definitely not prawn, instead shrimp. Everything is too small. Definitely not enough. Waitress keeps asking if you want drinks even after you already have drink. No more than two checks, no Amex no discover card. read more

This place didn't seem like it would be a good place to eat, its a hole in the wall place, however their specials of the day sounded amazing, so I went in and tried it. It was a hit! The menu changes daily and their specials are great. The owner/chef is great with her daily entree's. Authentic and top notch if you ask me and if you can get over how small the place it. I would much rather eat in a small mom/pop type restaurant where you get "home made" food and not some chain restaurant. Awesome place, a must stop next time in town. read more

After eating heavy food all week, we wanted to go a little lighter. This place was great - the food was well seasoned, not overdone, and service was excellent. And, it was great to be on the patio with our dog. It's a little bit more expensive than what you might find at home, but all the dinner menus are in Cambria. We'd go again next time we are there. read more

The food here is incredible. Visited the restaurant several times during our stay in Cambria and each time we were delighted. It's a small space so if you are looking to eat inside, get there early. Outdoors is an option too. Very pet friendly on the patio. read more

I haven't been there in about a year but when Debbie opened the place up we were there pretty frequently.. We love the salmon & cream cheese wontons and her desserts are always delicious--in fact there are rumors about town on how Debbie's cheesecake recipe was stolen by Robin's when she left Robin's.... at any rate, it's not cheap for what it is, but it is very good and it's really the only ethnic food you can find in Cambria...plus everything is fresh and beautiful. read more

There are a TON of overly picky up-pities on this page, GOOD GRIEF. . Wild Gingers is the BEST Vietnamese Thai fusion I have EVER tasted in my life. Their Tom Kha is to die for, and so is their smoked salmon wontons. I had one amazing Salmon with blackberry honey mustard sauce. NONE, and I mean NONE of their food is boring or bland. I ASSURE U OF THAT. And I have never seen a restaurant like this before. Also, the owner happens to be the sister of the other restaurant here called Robin's, and we ate their last night and I thought nothing could even top that food, until I learned that the owner designed most of the food for Robins, and she gets everything fresh from a farmers market, also I got not one, not two, but THREE recommendations to come here in the span of 24 hours, and one of the couples eating here couldn't stop raving about how awesome his food even was. I'm not saying that people can't have different tastes and mistakes can't be made on different days, but being a nurse? I also know that there are an insane amount of people that are hard to please. read more

This is a very small cafe with a great owner. I had the green papaya and shrimp salad and the scallop special. The green papaya salad had lettuce and rice noodles which I was not used to. The flavor was very good and consistent with most papaya salads I've had in the past. However, I would have liked more papaya in the salad. The scallops were wonderful. There was also a variety of other salads and vegetables served with the scallops. Although the scallops were good, I thought the other parings were a little random and did not completely complement the taste of the scallops. The food is good but a little inconsistent with the sides for the main dish. read more

Checked this place out for the first time last weekend. Appetizer was yummy. Main courses were good and average. Hubby got the spare ribs- those were TASTYTASTY, just not enough meat on the bone for either of our preference. (We aren't big eaters, I felt as though it was a bit of a skimp). I ordered the orange chicken- just meh. The sauce was not what I would expect on an orange chicken dish. I WILL say it was refreshing to have so many FRESH veggies in our meal. That was a plus. The owner walked out and asked us how our meal was, so you can tell she cares about her restaurant. I'd eat here again for sure, I just don't know if this would qualify as "last meal" status. read more

I live in Cambria and I love this place. The cuisine is Asian fusion not American. The dining room is small but the menu is interesting and the food is delicious. The owner Debra can be moody but I feel just adds to the experience. Her sister is the owner of Robin's restaurant in Cambria. If you like Asian food, don't call it Thai, you should try this restaurant. read more

Ordered Pad Thai, a traditional Thai dish, to go. It was not done traditionally. It was filled with chopped vegetables of all sorts that seemed like they may have been cut for other dishes. There was little or no fish sauce added, no cooked eggs, and the noodles were cut up instead of left long and stirred up with the vegetables. I was very disappointed. I also ordered Sat Thai. The chicken was over marinated and dry, and the peanut sauce was not traditional. Also very disappointing. read more

After a fine, more substantial meal the night before, my husband and I opted for this great Thai restaurant, which is definitely a find. The Yelp reviews gave me high expectations, which definitely were met. Great food. The restaurant is *tiny*; maybe 7 tables, and doesn't take reservations. We had a great imperial spring roll appetizer, and we had the spicy fried calamari (absolutely yummy) and a ginger prawns dish, both with rice. The dishes were a little smaller than we judged; we could easily have had a third entree for the two of us. The chef does wonderful things with adding fruit unexpectedly to some of the dishes, making a great combination with the spices. This is the kind of restaurant locals go to regularly in a tourist town. read more

Our dinner was very good here. The papaya salad with shrimp was very fresh, however, it was not spicy enough for me ( I love spicy asian food). For the entree, we split the Hunan Beef. The beef was so tender that it melts in my mouth. The chef must have used fillet Mignon for the Hunan Beef. It was so delicious. The owner, Deborah, was very friendly. She is a little forgetful when it comes to refilling my water, but other than that I have no complaints. read more

I have had it. I come to this little place when I am in town. I usually show up when they first open, no problem. Went tonight like at 7pm. They were not totally booked but busy. Told the waitress I was outside. She gave me a menu & I went to my table. I must have waited 10 min. She finally came over. I asked for the lamp to be put on since it was cold outside. Then ordered my drink & dish. I waited 20 min and left. She never came to turn lamp on or my hot drink. Will never go back!! read more

Some of the best and freshest food in Cambria. Very fair prices. Yelp wants me to see more about this restaurant but all I can say is that it's fabulous read more

I was looking forward to a good Asian meal, but Wild Ginger ended up being mediocre at best. The curry eggplant didn't have the rich curry flavor that I expected and there were crunchy bits in the rice. Not sure if this is because it was burned or under cooked. Got the mango crumble for dessert which was recommended by the server, but it wasn't anything special. The restaurant was very cold inside. Everyone in the restaurant kept their coats on and the food got cold very quickly. It's a small restaurant so whenever the front door opened, you can feel the cold air rush in. read more

This was one of the tastiest Thai meals I've had. I had the Thai Basil Chicken ($15), which they made a little bit spicy upon my request. Service was fast, friendly, and caring. I will definitely be back! read more

I had dinner here with a friend when I was recently passing through Cambria. If the service had been friendlier, I would give it three stars. It's a pretty restaurant, very nicely decorated. The food itself was bland though, the portions small, and it was expensive. However, I know Cambria is touristy so I guess most restaurants have overpriced food. I found the service kind of rude. For instance, I asked if one of their soups was vegetarian, and if they could simply leave out the chicken. The answer was that the butternut squash soup (not the soup I was asking about) was vegetarian. That simply wasn't what I asked, and I had to repeat my question; the server seemed uninterested and annoyed. I finally got it out of her, that the soup was prepared in advance with chicken already in it, but I shouldn't have to fight her for this information. This happened a few times during the course of ordering. I wouldn't go back, but I can't attest that any of the other restaurants in the area are any better, especially at this price. read more

Really good food. The restaurant is a little small, but it doesn't feel cramped. We're vegetarians, and they had limited options for us. What a fun surprise to find such good food in this little tourist town. We had a delicious fried calamari salad with fruit and a warm citrus dressing. Never had anything like it. Vietnamese Barbecue Pork was delicious. It was served on a bed of noodles and spinach. The dish was accompanied by Asian slaw and assorted vegetables. My husband had a seafood dish that contained shrimp, mussels, calamari, peppers, zucchini and broccoli. The seafood was perfectly cooked. It was all served in a mild curry broth. We would definitely visit Wild Ginger again when we are in the area. Restaurant is small but bright and charming. read more

We have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. The service is fast and friendly and the food is unparalleled in Cambria. We started with the " mandatory " salmon cream cheese wantons. They are consistently delicious. Then I had the Vietnamese pork and vegetable rolls. They were quite tasty and the dipping sauce is not too spicy and yummy. My friend had the chicken chow mein that was chock full of vegetables. She said it was very fresh and full of flavor. We would order everything again! This was the third time BF and I have been to Wild Ginger. I am very surprised at the poor reviews, because every time weve gone, we have had nothing but friendly and prompt service and tasty food. Weve chosen different plates and have been very satisfied. It may cost more than what you're used to, but you are in Cambria and will pay $4 for a coffee, so I don't understand why people will pay more for their fancy latte and end up complaining about paying a few dollars more for excellent tasting food that focuses more on quality and not quantity. Give this establishment a chance, it definitely is worth it! read more

Been to this place 3 times and decided to write review. I am Not a vegetable eater but what ever they do, the taste makes me eat all the veggies and lick the plate. service is great and the food comes out fast.
