The cake was also decently priced and Joyce always made sure to keep in communication with me to make sure she was making it how I wanted. The cake was for a build the library baby shower and it was a stack of three books, complete with detailed drawings on the book covers and a 3D sheep sitting on top. I couldn't have asked for a better dessert to celebrate my friend's new baby! If you need a cake, go with Joyce! I promise you will not regret it!! :D

First of all, I must admit I don't even have a sweet tooth and don't actually eat baked goods on a…read moreregular basis. So for a bakery to get a 5 star from me, they must be doing something right! I got to taste Joyce's cake and meet her in person at a recent Yelp Unofficial Event (UYE) I organized for the Chinese New Year. Joyce attended the UYE and graciously brought a triple chocolate cake she made in her own kitchen! The cake was an instant hit at our event. I personally appreciated the cake for being not overly sweet. If you know me or read my reviews, you will know I hate things that are too sweet!! But that chocolate cake was just right! If you think I gave her bake shop a 5 star b/c she gifted our event a cake, then you are so wrong! I have personally done business with Joyce to warrant my truthful statement. So when I heard about her macaroon offerings, I placed an order immediately. I've tried other business in town for macarons but wasn't satisfied. I had to try Joyce's version b/c she specializes in French baking! The macarons were $2 each and they were great. I got so many flavors and my personal favorite is the almond one b/c it was light and delicious! But Joyce thought they weren't her best so she offered to change up ingredients and let me try more! Geez! I got to know Joyce on a more person level when she came to hand deliver my order. I learned that she is very passionate about baking and her dream is to open her own bakery! But for now she bakes everything in her own kitchen and strives to provide the best products with limited space and resources. What impresses me the most is Joyce's professionalism. She prides in her baked goods, genuinely cares about her customers' satisfaction and constantly seeks feedback to improve her baking skills and products. So if you order from Joyce, you will know for sure that you are dealing with a honest business and are eating cakes with the best ingredients she could possibly find (no butter and no preservatives!). I also had the pleasure to try another cake and some Lebanese cookies from her for my birthday (thanks so much to Luly!). The cake was so pretty and tasted great! I only wish I had more room to eat one more piece of cake after a big Bday dinner. The cookies were so light and refreshing. My favorite is the one with date. The pistachio one probably needed more work. But where else in a city like San Antonio could you find Lebanese cookies, seriously? Most recently, I had the pleasure to try Joyce's Macaron cakes in cup! What is that, you might ask. I didn't know either. It is a new item that Joyce came up with when she was trying to save the macarons from turning soggy. Genius! It is a hybrid of macaron and cake served in a cup! We all know hybrid food are so popular nowadays from Cronuts to Ramen Burgers. This macaron cake in a cup tasted so fresh and natural, not overly sweet at all! WOW! If you don't believe me, ask Chef Roland at Stella Public House! He got to try this new invention as well and raved about it!!! In a bi-cultural city where you are either tex or mex, other culture and food is a breath of fresh air! Joyce's cake bake shop is a great example of bringing diversity to this city! With Joyce's international cultural background and her vision, passion and unique approach on baking, she must succeed! And if a business like Joyce's bake cake shop prospers, then I will have more faith in San Antonio moving towards the direction of becoming a world class city!

We absolutely love coming to Bakery Lorraine, and it remains one of our favorite spots in San…read moreAntonio for the good vibes and friendly service. On our recent visit, we ordered a cafe au lait, which was perfectly balanced for a slow morning, along with a delicious lemon blueberry scone that had bright flavors. For breakfast, we tried the sausage (ordered a side of it) and the yogurt parfait, which had great flavor overall, though the strawberries were slightly soggy (the granola balanced out the textures well). We also paired our meal with the brioche toast, and we enjoyed it, we really miss the old way they used to cut it because that thicker slice from a while back was definitely superior (iykyk). Of course, we couldn't leave without grabbing a pop pastry and a few of their signature macarons to go for later including the Earl Grey, Pistachio and Mangonada. We enjoy BL and the staff is always friendly and great. We will absolutely be back for our usual treats.

Macaroons here are spectacular! Love their seasonal pasteries such as their tarts, cookies and cakes!! My kids are always a fan of their croissants too! Coffee here is also pretty good! Parking: shared with other businesses, some days can be pretty easy and other days can be a little challenging.
