The pastry selection is phenomenal and absolutely delicious. I would not order the eggs Benedict again.

All of the cakes, cupcakes, chocolates and ice cream were made in the shop and you could watch as they did it. Everything looked absolutely delicious within the display case! They also supply the desserts for the Cafe at the Ridge which is next door. You can actually order your desserts and such at either place. We ordered our coffee (just plain coffee) at the Cafe and then grabbed a slice of carrot cake with two scoops of ice cream from the bakery. Everything was delicious, the woman behind the counter was very sweet and I loved being able to watch them whip up all the tasty treats! The seating area was kept very clean and it had a nice view of the surrounding marketplace. I would definitely go back and try more items!

The staff behind the counter was very patient with my large order and answering all my questions. I chose a GF coffee cake, chocolate cake slice, some cookies, and a few scones. I appreciated the GF options. I only kept the scones for myself to munch on during the day and they were delicious. They had many flavor choices, birthday funfetti, maple cinnamon, etc. and were good sized. I was the only person there when I visited during the week. I imagine they're busier on the weekends. I would definitely stop by again for a pastry, a coffee, and a little shopping!

First of all, I must admit I don't even have a sweet tooth and don't actually eat baked goods on a…read moreregular basis. So for a bakery to get a 5 star from me, they must be doing something right! I got to taste Joyce's cake and meet her in person at a recent Yelp Unofficial Event (UYE) I organized for the Chinese New Year. Joyce attended the UYE and graciously brought a triple chocolate cake she made in her own kitchen! The cake was an instant hit at our event. I personally appreciated the cake for being not overly sweet. If you know me or read my reviews, you will know I hate things that are too sweet!! But that chocolate cake was just right! If you think I gave her bake shop a 5 star b/c she gifted our event a cake, then you are so wrong! I have personally done business with Joyce to warrant my truthful statement. So when I heard about her macaroon offerings, I placed an order immediately. I've tried other business in town for macarons but wasn't satisfied. I had to try Joyce's version b/c she specializes in French baking! The macarons were $2 each and they were great. I got so many flavors and my personal favorite is the almond one b/c it was light and delicious! But Joyce thought they weren't her best so she offered to change up ingredients and let me try more! Geez! I got to know Joyce on a more person level when she came to hand deliver my order. I learned that she is very passionate about baking and her dream is to open her own bakery! But for now she bakes everything in her own kitchen and strives to provide the best products with limited space and resources. What impresses me the most is Joyce's professionalism. She prides in her baked goods, genuinely cares about her customers' satisfaction and constantly seeks feedback to improve her baking skills and products. So if you order from Joyce, you will know for sure that you are dealing with a honest business and are eating cakes with the best ingredients she could possibly find (no butter and no preservatives!). I also had the pleasure to try another cake and some Lebanese cookies from her for my birthday (thanks so much to Luly!). The cake was so pretty and tasted great! I only wish I had more room to eat one more piece of cake after a big Bday dinner. The cookies were so light and refreshing. My favorite is the one with date. The pistachio one probably needed more work. But where else in a city like San Antonio could you find Lebanese cookies, seriously? Most recently, I had the pleasure to try Joyce's Macaron cakes in cup! What is that, you might ask. I didn't know either. It is a new item that Joyce came up with when she was trying to save the macarons from turning soggy. Genius! It is a hybrid of macaron and cake served in a cup! We all know hybrid food are so popular nowadays from Cronuts to Ramen Burgers. This macaron cake in a cup tasted so fresh and natural, not overly sweet at all! WOW! If you don't believe me, ask Chef Roland at Stella Public House! He got to try this new invention as well and raved about it!!! In a bi-cultural city where you are either tex or mex, other culture and food is a breath of fresh air! Joyce's cake bake shop is a great example of bringing diversity to this city! With Joyce's international cultural background and her vision, passion and unique approach on baking, she must succeed! And if a business like Joyce's bake cake shop prospers, then I will have more faith in San Antonio moving towards the direction of becoming a world class city!

She has the ability to create beautiful edible roses that look real. I had originally planned on using real flowers to decorate my wedding cake but Joyce convinced me otherwise. I am so glad I listened because the end result surpassed my expectations! My guests raved about how delicious this Italian cream cake turned out, definitely the very best I've ever had! You will not regret ordering a cake from Joyce. I will absolutely order more cakes from her in the future and recommend you do the same!

I forgot the exact flavors I got, but I remember trying pistachio, Dubai chocolate, and one other flavor. They were all really good. Since I was hungry, I also grabbed a chocolate croissant, which was delicious as well. I forgot to ask them to heat it up, but it was still very enjoyable. On the side, I tried their ice cream, and it was honestly some of the best ice cream I've had in San Antonio. I believe I got pistachio, taro, and coffee on the bottom, and they were all great. At the end, I also got Turkish coffee just out of curiosity. It's not in the picture because I purchased it after I finished my dessert. The coffee was very strong, with a unique flavor that made it fun to try. One small suggestion: the coffee was very very hot and nearly overflowed the small cup, so it might be helpful to add a "cup sleeve", use a slightly bigger cup, or offer an option to make it a bit cooler (adding an ice or two). Overall, this is definitely a cool place to hang out, especially if you enjoy sweets, coffee, and trying different flavors. Highly recommended and will be back for more!
