First time visit to lolli and pops it's cute, fun, and full of charm. My son and his girlfriend wanted to stop in and get some candy. They have a wide variety of candy. I liked how they had each area sectioned off. My son and his girlfriend got a bag and started to pick out what they wanted. My husband and I did the same. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a hit or miss on taste. The Champaign gummy bears were pretty hard to chew. They tasted like they'd been sitting there awhile. We also picked out some chocolate bears that had a very tart inside, not a fan. Everything else was pretty tasty. I liked the white chocolate covered Oreos and chocolate covered cherries. We also tried some round candies that tasted like birthday cake. Overall, I would definitely come back but out more thought into what I want to try. I let my eyes tell me what I wanted to try. I stopped by this confectionery shop as it was very interesting inside. Everything inside was so clean and nicely placed everywhere. Since it was in the middle of the day, I was the only one inside, along with the manager (according to her name tag). She was keeping herself busy arranging the store but was very friendly when I entered. They had many gummy's in the back, powered candys, cottan candy, chocolate and many other confectionery options. I ordered many of the confectioneries along with some of the truffles on displayed. I had asked the manager to pick whichever they recommended. This place is amazing! I felt like a kid all over again. Tons of gummies, chocolates, Japanese candy, etc. If you can dream it, it's in this store. Every twist and turn I took, there was something else mesmerizing me to go further into the store. Sugar free? No problem! Have allergies? No problem! They literally had something for everyone. Prior to covid, Lolli and Pops was a fun, clean, well-stocked, upscale candy emporium. The employees enhanced the store's image of being a specialty, curated candy shop. The whole experience seemed worth the expense of inflated candy prices. Post covid... While it's understandable to struggle with supply, there doesn't seem to be a valid excuse for messy and unclean stores. The candy now is often the same candy that can be purchased at any other retailer, such as Walgreens, Target, or a local grocery store. The only difference: at Lolli & Pops, customers will still pay the overinflated price of a specialty curated experience without the experience. It is narrow and long but has three main rooms which are themed differently. You will find most candy brands here available other stores but not all in one location. I love love this place! It's amazing! I wish this was here when I used to live in San Antonio and worked at La Cantera. It's not that new anymore now though, but I still find this store to be one of the most amazing candy stores. I enjoy a wide variety of candy, and this store definitely delivers on the different types of candies. They have candy from around the world. I love the set up of the store as well. My favorite thing here is the gummy bears, they are gourmet and made with real fruit juices and they are twenty times softer than any other gummy bear I've had. I love that you can select which ever flavor you like. They have a ton of flavors, but I love that I don't have to eat the other terrible flavors. The pricing is fair for being a candy specialty shop and they have great options. The staff is super friendly and nice. I love coming here brings out your childhood or the kid in everyone. I first visited "Lolli and Pops" at the Tysons Corner Mall in Tysons, Virginia and that location is considered the "Gucci" store compared to the other smaller locations. Last week I was visiting my Twinkie (da Twin Sister) in San Antonio and we wandered by the Lolli and Pops located in The Shops at La Cantera. Now usually I do not like paying a premium on confections I can easily purchase at the local grocery store, but since we had plenty of time on our hands I thought "why not?". My young daughters grabbed us by the hands and pulled us into the store, undoubtedly remembering their previous experience in Virginia where they were able to sample as many sweets as I would let them. While smaller, this location was set up almost identically and the Associates were very pleasant. Knowing what was coming next, I initially graciously declined the many offers for a "free" sample, but then the fun experience got the best of me. Even after trying a little bit of this, and a little bit of that the Associates kept asking if I wanted more samples even when they could tell I really didn't plan to purchase anything. As fate would have it, I passed by the "Boston Baked Beans" container and was mentally teleported back to my childhood in Charleston, SC -- back then we would be able walk into the "Corner Store" in downtown Charleston to buy a $.25 box of this precious treat. I could not help but ask for a sample, and while not exactly the same taste, they were still very good. I took out the scooper and poured a little into my bag -- especially after learning that a pound of this sugary goodness would cost me $14 per pound - "Boi no!!" I ate a few beans on my way to the scales (he, he, he...) and was satisfied that this trip would only cost a couple of bucks (when taking into account the Military Discount (fist pump!). While the beans were "da bomb" the best part of the experience was interacting with the MOST WONDERFUL STAFF of this location! They were not the "pushy, used car salesmen" type and were just generally pleasant. BREAK -- BREAK I also have to highly commend the Associate Drew who took the time to show me the "International Candy Wall". While he tried to "wow" me with the offerings, I "wowed" him right back when I explained to him I had recently moved back to the States from Germany after a three-year military assignment, and that I had lived in Japan for three years so I was familiar with most of the featured candy. What's more, Drew caught up to us after we left the store: I had mistakenly left my sunglasses!! PROMOTE HIM "PRONTO"! Overall, I highly recommend Lolli and Pops if you are looking to "splurge" on some nostalgic treats. Delightful and delectable treats abound at Lilli and Pops here at the popular La Cantera shopping plaza. A candy connoisseur will appreciate the international selection and even I could lot avoid making a wish upon the golden Gummi's belly today! Lol! So this place is basically a haven for candy lovers. They have gummy bears, birthday bark, truffles and so much more. They carry gourmet candy, specialized candy and regular movie theatre candy as well. Lolli and Pops has a 1950s style from colored metal tins to put chocolate or candy in to the pinstriped aprons and straw hats worn by the employees. All in all this place is pretty charming. The employees are approachable and willing to answer any questions that you have. They will let you sample candy if you ask them which is nice. My friend and I split a small bag of gummy bears and dolphins. A 1/4 pound of candy is $4.00, which isn't too bad. I had the sour berry dolphins, sour mojito flavored gummy bears and the strawberry daiquiri flavored gummy bears. They were all yummy but my favorite was the sour berry dolphins. read more

This place is so ridiculously overpriced. I think there is a huge mark up on the products. For example, I can buy the green tea kit kats for $4 at my Asian grocery store (and they are ~$5 on Amazon with free shipping). Here they are a whopping $10! I guess the retail space at La Cantera is expensive so they have to make their money somehow but seriously - don't buy the Asian candies here. Go to a real Asian market and get them 50% cheaper. Or Amazon. What I do like about Lolli and Pops is the variety. There are so many different candies. Hard to find delectables like caffarel giandiua chocolate sit alongside Bertie Botts beans and the gummy selection in the back is incredible. I like going in to the store just so I can get samples of the gummy candy. Not everything in the bins can be sampled. If the item is too large (like the chocolate sponge) they won't give you a sample though. Things to absolutely avoid - the truffles. Hands down the grossest truffles I've ever had. I meant to give them as gifts but couldn't bring myself to give such disgusting things to my friends. They are dense and have a horrific flavor. And are very expensive. Sure they look cute (the mice for example are adorable) but don't be fooled! They are nasty! Service is good. The employees are nice and they don't follow you around. I like that the employees say "have a sweet day" every time you pay. It's just so cute to me. In summary, go in for the samples and buy some interesting gummies. Old fashioned candy shop carrying hard to find items like Mozart Truffles and Spanish Turron. I was most excited about the good variety of chocolate bars and tried a couple which were new to me. Wild Ophelia's (a branch off from Vosges chocolate) Dark Chocolate BBQ Potato Chip Bar is a must try, perfect salty/bittersweet combination. Tcho Chocolates Strawberry Rhubarb Pie bar was interesting and tasted more like a strawberry malt than strawberry pie, a curiosity which didn't quite warrant it's $10.00 price tag. I also came away with a few bars from Chuao Chocolate which is a reliable old favourite of mine, Popcorn Pop was the best of that day's bunch with popcorn blended with small pieces of popping candy. Their refrigerator cases have a wide selection of glass bottled sodas and it was really nice to walk around the mall with ice cold root beers on a hot & muggy day. The Butterscotch Root Beer alone would ensure my return business, deep butterscotch after notes without being too sweet. Lolli & Pops offers a frequent buyers reward card which is a non-membership business card like cardboard card with ten $10.00 punches, you get $10.00 off your next purchase when the card is full. When I first came across this candy store I was not prepared for the overwhelming joy Lolli and Pops (L&P) was going to bring to me. I'm certain I turned into a child in mere second seeing all of the candy in it's glory. It is literally the holy mecca of candy and I love it. Yes there are a few candy shops out there but this one just has a notch above everyone else. There are candies featured at L&P I forgot about for many years until I saw them in person. Case in point- Caramel covered apple pops! My first trip into this store was awesome just like any following visit, but it wasn't until I saw that signature green foil wrapper with the caramel showing that I went bizerk. I got immediate flashbacks of my childhood and my obsession over these lollipops. My parents could not pry one away from my fingers whenever I had one. Once I started looking around I realized there were so many candies I had loved but sadly forgotten. L&P is split up in sections to make the candy experience quite easy and accessible for everyone. The first room features all of their unique flavored sodas and candies from around the world. They also have a sugar room, a chocolate covered room, and of course a gummy room. From rock candy to vanilla chocolate covered pretzels (the best I've ever had) you will find something unique and lovable. I came to this location instead of the one at Northstar because it's a little bigger, but that was a mistake. There were so many empty candy bins that Most of the candy that I usually get was not even there for me, all that was there was an empty plastic bin with the candy's name on it. Also I have a glass jar that I paid five dollars for and now they're telling me that the Price has gone up to eight dollars. They even had "gold-dipped" rock candy. -Here's my gripe... when shopping with my three kids yesterday, we noticed a group of five girls (@11-12 years old) all treating this store like a candy "buffet". We watched them go from bin to bin, taking handfuls of candy and stuffing their faces, nonstop... also playing the game of putting candy in wrong bins. They were rudely barging in front of my kids like they owned the place. Shocker, their mothers stood by, watching them, saying nothing. Ridiculously overpriced and totally not worth it. Half a dozen macarons for $18 freaking dollars! I was so excited to see macarons that I did not think about the price until I got home. They did not taste horrible, they were only okay, and then i remembered the best macarons in Houston from a place that is also arguably overpriced, were only about $2 or $2.25/ piece, bigger, more delicious, of course, and served in an equally fancy box. I also tried their no. 5 bar, hazelnut and biscotti. I understand the biscotti might make the texture a little different but this tasted worse than a Hershey bar, I could not even finish a square. The chocolate looked old and as if it did not temper correctly when I unwrapped it. It tastes very chalky and superficially sweet, gross even, again like the chocolate did not temper correctly. I did not taste any hazelnut flavor. It was $8 of disappointment (don't Hershey bars go on sale for like $1 for 2?). I stupidly spent over $50 at the store and now I'm scared to try the rest of my purchases. I thought about giving 2 stars, there was a lot of variety and the store is beautiful, but the taste in my mouth is still bad. read more

I used to be in love with the place but the quality of the candy went down hill and many of their marketing schemes came off as cunning than enticing. They had this offer where you pay 30 bucks for a heavy glass jar and refill it as much as you wanted for 10 bucks. After buying it I did the math and it was obvious that taking the light plastic bag for 11 bucks was a lot better as the glass jar could hardly fit .75 lbs . Some of their imported candy bars are for 11 bucks ( Tony's) and I went to the rim at world food market where I could get it for 6 (and 4 bucks on special offer). Charging double isn't wise. The orange candy is WAY more cheaper at heb. I asked the worker how much that a product had cost and she told me to check it at the counter myself because she had no clue and she wasn't nice about it. I'd rather drive to the rim next time. We were so disappointed in this place. We love going in to candy shops like this, as do most people, because it reminds us of our childhoods. It was cute, it was colorful and the young people clerking there were friendly and attentive; however the chocolate was terrible. It tasted to my husband and me as though the chocolate had been mixed with wax or plastic. Even Hershey's is better than that. Both my husband and I felt ill afterwards. Get a sample before you buy to be sure you like the stuff. We learned an expensive lesson. Amended on 09/07/15: I was contacted by a representative of the store who offered us a gift card to make up for our experience. They have everything from international to gourmet to gummy bears made by the company and truffles made in store. I had a particularly good experience during my last visit when I was wheelchair bound after a recent surgery. One employee, Christopher, spent a good 20 minutes pushing me in my wheelchair around the store and helping me pick out candies, and even treating my friends and I to some delicious sample combinations (jalapeno gummies plus peach rings taste like Mexican chile lollipops. Yummy!) The employees are always so cheerful and helpful (who wouldn't be happy working in a candy store?), and they will let you sample any bulk candy.
