Endive salad
Roy A.

We visited for lunch and ordered several small plates. Every dish was great. The Ahi Tostada featured large chunks of flavorful fish. The Endive Citrus Salad was excellent, and the fish sticks were a perfect appetizer. We enjoyed sitting in a front window booth. Our server provided excellent service.

Came here March 7th 2025 for lunch. The $16 chorizo chowder bowl came with plenty of chopped potatoes clams onions but the soup base was not filling nor thick enough to pass for a clam chowder. Wife like the $26 wild fish plate which came with garden vegetables several filets of whitefish and white rice. Portion size good even for the steep $26 prices The $26 shrimp boil came with at least half a dozen shrimp in a soup bowl with large portions of chopped tomatoes. Not sure if this was an optimal combination as boiling the shrimp instead of pan frying it caused a lot of flavor in the shrimp to be lost. Will probably stay with the Thai restaurant up the block next time you come to Pacific Grove.

We went back to the Wild Fish Restaurant in Pacific Grove for dinner, (this time) as well as to listen to the Lighthouse Jazz Quartet again. On Friday night it was Stu on the saxophone, instead of Paul Contos, and the music was still fantastic! We really enjoyed our dinner. The food had an artistic presentation and it was very tasty. My husband had the Endive Citrus Salad and a glass of Avivo Sangiovese. I had the Warm Beet Delicate Salad and a glass of the Barnardus Sauvignon Blanc, and we shared the Bouillabaisse, and Otto's flavorful sourdough bread. It was a great meal and we had no room for dessert. I highly recommend going on the weekend so you can hear the Lighthouse Jazz Quartet as well. I'm sure Judy and Rudy will take good care of you, too. It was a wonderful dining experience. -Susan in Santa Cruz

Arturo did a wonderful job servicing us. I highly recommended catching Wild Fish Restaurant!

We have been to Wildfish several times, including the televised episode of Checks Please! night. But Thursday night, May 7, was the best we have had at this restaurant. The new chef is excellent, highly original, even a bit experimental, which we love as die-hard foodies! We started with the Tamil oysters featured that evening. I prefer Shigoku or Kumamoto but these medium sized oysters were mild and not overly briny. The tuna carpaccio was absolutely stunning, with salad -proportion pea sprouts and a mild creamy dressing drizzled on the side. Then we shared the crispy calamari with two types of sauces: one vinaigrette and the other more creamy. And we ended with the koji-marinated seabass on a base of very subtle goat-cheese infused napa cabbage. We thought the sauce on the napa cabbage was miso butter. We sat in the bar--our favorite place in the back of the restaurant where it is very quiet --and we had delightful banter with the bartender, JD. Truly magnificent dishes with a flair any epicurean will appreciate!!

Slacktide Martini & jalapeño mocktail

My husband and I arrived at Wild Fish at lunchtime on Monday, so as expected, we were seated right away on the charming little outside patio. There was one other couple dining, and they had their dog with them, which always makes me happy as a dog owner to see a dog friendly place. I opted for the Slacktide Martini. As a martini lover, I was intrigued by the house oyster shell infused vodka and seaweed garnish (!!). I probably wouldn't order it again because it was odd to smell seaweed every sip, but I give Wild Fish points for creativity in this cocktail. My husband had the jalapeño mocktail which was surprisingly sweet (unfortunately). We had a half dozen oysters to start. They had A LOT of mignonette poured into each one which was a bit overpowering. I ordered the chorizo chowder bowl. I'll admit, I was a bit baffled by this dish as I didn't see or taste any chorizo other than a mild smokiness. The broth was very watery. Honestly, it kind of seemed like a big bowl of celery soup with a smattering of potatoes. Pretty disappointing. My husband had the wild fish burger which he seemed to enjoy. Service was very polite and efficient. Sadly, this is a place I likely would not return.

Such a cute, little restaurant in a cute, little town! The ambiance in here is so nice and romantic with the warm candle lit lighting and the jazz music- it literally felt like I was in a fairytale. The calamari and brussel sprouts for appetizers are both delish!! They do charge $5 a person for the live music so also something to be aware of. Everyone was super nice and very attentive and felt like a big family in there.

This is the second time we came, I forgot to write a review about it last time so I wasted a chance to try out something else instead. Service was good. I asked to move up my reservation when we got here early and was take. Care of. We got checked on by multiple waiters. Food was a mix. The mushrooms sharable was too little imo for $14. I was also expecting them to be fried but instead they came out like stir fried but with heavy seasoning of black pepper on the seafood mushrooms. The lion main was better. The cashew dressing was good. The clam chowder was more like a fish chowder as it has clams on the top that made the bowl looked more filled but the soup was only half of the bowl. I did not try it but I was told it was not as creamy as the normal bread bowl clam chowder. The Sablefish dish changed so many times throughout the years if you follow the Yelp pictures, but there are mostly 2 pieces. Most was a teriyaki sauce and had only one piece. It was very soft and delicate texture, so the taste was good, just not sure why I only had one piece. I asked the waiters and one told me it's always one piece and one told me they go by the weight....um...also weird that the dish has no carb, only fish and veggies. The Bouillabaisse was a bit too salty for me. The place was not big but has outdoor and indoor dining. I remember it was quite dark inside once it got dark outside. There was a slight glitch on the payment and I had to redo it, but there's a QR code and you could pay with your phone and not via them for hand processing your card. Won't be back.

Another memorable meal at what has definitely become our favorite local restaurant. We started with a couple their creative cocktails and popovers. Next, the Oysters were very fresh and bright with a delicious pomegranate mignonette followed by (by far) the best poke bowl on the peninsula. For dessert we shared the always delicious sticky toffee pudding. And as always the service was impeccable. Bravo!

Best fish n chips in town!

That was super! Coming in for lunch here on a Saturday is must-- especially if you love Fish & Chips! The service was friendly, attentive, and easy going. This is a solid local restaraunt that serves its neighbors and tourists very well. The ambience is cozy and laid back. Even though the options sound familiar and not too fancy, the plating and flavors of their food are really good here. Again, I stepped in for lunch on the weekend and there was plenty of seating which made service quick, easy, and a super satisfying meal. Winning!

The fried fish filet was great! A whole filet with extra crispy batter. Unfortunately our chips (fries) were soggy. The chorizo clam chowder was bland and didn't seem to have or taste of chorizo. The half dozen Kumamoto oysters were fresh, but fairly expensive at $4 an oyster. Good outdoor seating to enjoy the weather. Service was very nice, just a little slow. They didn't seem busy as it was the middle of the week at lunch.

Fish and chips were generous and delicious. Can't go wrong with anything on the "specials" list.

Service was outstanding, food was excellent and we had live music to enjoy! The restaurant was much busier than our first visit but we were well taken care of.

I'm so sad to have to lower my review. We went to Wild Fish this past weekend and I wish we had chosen another restaurant to take our kids. We went before and had the absolute best experience, and because we were on a weekend trip, we wanted to visit it again. This place is pricey. PRICEY. It's pretty sad when you spend a few hundred dollars at a restaurant and you're still hungry afterward A few things: 1: The food was disappointing. Appetizers and mains were bland, and the food arrived warm, not hot. 2. I'm not sure if they changed cooks, because the bouillabaisse was so much different than last time we had it. This time it resembled more of a cioppino. It was very tomato-heavy, lots of onions, very little seafood. 3. The menu didn't have a wow-factor and I felt like there were more options last time. 4. We were served by one of the owner's. She was very pleasant. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but at one point my husband had to get up and ask for Tabasco, because he didn't want his food to get colder than it already was, and wait for her to come back to the table. My kids didn't understand all the hype. Understandably so. If this was a bad day, that's too bad. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Ask the Community - Wild Fish

Is the out side seating dog friendly?

Yes, if you sit outside on the patio. Bring warmth!

Can we still order items from the lunch menu for dinner?

Sorry! No…but we do have Fish and Chips on Wednesday nights!

Is this place kid friendly? Picky eater 6yo

Kids can choose their favorite food from the adult menu for a custom plate.

Do you have a high chair available, and are you able to accommodate a 1 year old toddler?

Yes we have high chairs!

Do you allow small dogs?

They do not, unless it’s a service dog. So we went down the street to the international cuisine and had a wonderful dinner. They welcomed us with our little dachshund.

Is this place pet friendly?! Called them and they said service dog only!:/

I think they used to be and had a bad experience. When we went they said "we're sorry but no dogs".

Hi, is there a dress code? We're coming from the aquarium, are shorts ok? Clarifying: early dinner?

Yes! Please wear clothes! ;)

Do you allow dogs in your outdoor seating area?

No.

My boyfriend got the Cali Old Fashioned, which you can definitely taste the whiskey and bitters (with a whisper of citrus --- heavy on the whisper). Really cool spot and I'd love to come back! I ordered the broiled oysters with garlic chili oil to start. We also got the Caesar to split. My husband ordered the chicken dish, while I had the crab arancini as my entree. They were busy when we got there, but slowly people started to leave. Our server took awhile to greet us, but we understood. The oysters were so disappointing. The garlic chili oil was drowned out by toasted sesame oil (which I hate) and they were almost inedible. The sesame oil was not listed in the description on the menu, or I would have passed. Hard. Also, whoever shucked the oysters, didn't remove the whole body from the shell ( big no no) so I was fighting with my fork to release them. I worked at an oyster bar for years and shucked my fair share of them. It was hard to cleanse my palate of the sesame oil, because it was so overpowering. The Caesar was fine, nothing to write home about. The crab arancini was the best thing that I had. Really crispy and delicious. My husband was very disappointed with his dish. He is a chef of 30+ years and was excited to try the Demi glacé that was listed on the menu. What came out was chicken broth with so much garlic that it was also overpowering. The menu also said that the carrots and potatoes were roasted, but all of the veg had been boiled. So, everything was the same boiled texture and it was very unpleasant for him. He did let our server know. Our server ( a younger woman - didn't get her name) never asked how the food was. I don't know if she just didn't want to know, or what. She also never refilled my husband's empty water glass and didn't ask if I would like another glass of sparkling wine when she dropped off our entrees, even though my glass was empty, The one nice thing is that they gave us a complimentary coffee/chocolate dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, by this time, we were ready to go. We will not be returning. Fix your menu and make sure the kitchen is preparing food the way it's described.

We've been coming here for years and I've never, not once, been disappointed. Everything about Mezzaluna is amazing. Mezzaluna's a fairly small restaurant so I always book a reservation. They have a smallish, but very nice, lounge area if your table isn't ready or you're just showing up for a drink. Their staff is beyond friendly and their bartender knows how to make a cocktail. The prices, in my opinion are very reasonable and the portions are what you'd expect. I RARELY, if ever, take home leftovers but this is one of my few restaurant leftover exceptions. I almost always get Rigatoni alla Buttera and my wife the Al Nero con Vongole but not always. Everything we've ever had on the menu is amazing. All the pasta is made fresh in house, and you can taste it. I've eaten at every Italian restaurant in Carmel, and sure Taylor Swift didn't eat here, but I'm glad she didn't. I want this place to be sucessful but I also want to keep this gem out of the Hollywood spotlight. This place stand on its own without needing that kind of notoriety. Restaurants like this let the food, which is what their, they're for do the talking. A few small notes for those who may not have dined here before: 1) Outside seating is right next to highway 68. So that's not the most "awesome" outdoor dining experience, but it is what it is right, but worth a note. 2) The parking lot can be a bit crowded so depending on the night, plan a little extra time to possibly have a small walk if the lot's full. 3) LOCAL/HACK! They have an awesome wine list (for in house dining or to take home). Their prices are VERY VERY good. BUT, the cool thing is if you bring a bottle of wine, and buy one from them, they will waive the corkage fee for that one bottle.
