Passing through and found this gem. Wild Fig is a wonderful little local restaurant serving chef specials every week with fresh and delicious ingredients. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing with juicy meat and a breading that packs a crunch! The side salad has mixed greens with a light dressing, goat cheese and candied pecans. I usually go for a side of fries (which were also deliciously crispy) but the salad will leave you feeling satisfied and wanting more. Great food, great local beer selections and great service all around. Don't forget to ask about the custom stickers that one of the chefs sells at the front counter! read more

What a little gem this is. We picked this place from Yelp as we were driving through Coarsegold and so happy we did! It's a quaint little place and you walk in and order at the counter. The lady was super nice and helpful. I ordered the Wild Fig salad and my husband ordered the Wild Fig burger. She gave us a number and we found a table outside. They have some tables inside, a cute outdoor area, and then some tables along the front of the restaurant on the porch. Warning! The Wild Fig salad is delicious but more like a side salad. It had dried figs and goat cheese on a bed of arugula with a vinaigrette dressing. Delicious but small. The Wild Fig burger was so yummy I ended up eating half of my husbands. Sorry babe! It also had goat cheese and a fig jam. Sweet and savory combo is my favorite. The fries were pretty tasty too. This is my very favorite restaurant! Chef Mark is a master at flavor combinations. I am usually there a couple of times a week and always on Sundays for his Eggs Benedict! Having been violently ill on bad hollandaise before , no one appreciates his making his sauce fresh several times on Sundays more than I do. His light touch of lemon in his sauce is exquisite! Came by on a Monday (memorial day) for lunch on the way to yosemite. There was a lot of outdoor seating, and there's an ok bathroom nearby. Our food took ~35 mins to arrive after ordering. I ordered the fried chicken & waffles. The chicken was probably the best part of the meal, although there were only 2 pieces. The waffles were decent. It also comes with a mashed potato gravy, butter, and maple syrup! This definitely seemed to be one of the better restaurant options in the area. I hired Wild Fig Kitchen to cater my Yosemite elopement/wedding and can honestly say I am so thankful to them and the owner, Mark. Not only was the food incredibly delicious and fresh, but Mark REALLY took the time to help me perfect my wedding. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I initially placed my order with one of the servers who answered the phone. I called WFK a few days before my wedding for some minor inquiries. Mark called me back and asked for more details regarding my catered event, and oh man am I so glad we talked. He provided suggestions/alternatives to what I had ordered due to the travel time it would take to get up to Yosemite (no easy feat) and I am so glad I listened. What really blew me away is that Mark leant me his heated food warmer box (and serving utensils!!) so that my food would remain hot and fresh for my wedding. I'm still emotional by how kind he was to offer this to us. For my wedding breakfast I ordered: -Fresh Basil & Cheese Frittata (I don't like frittatas, but I really really liked these. Soooo good, I highly recommend). -Fresh fruit bowl (quality fruit bowl, not the boring grocery store kind). -Biscuits & Sausage Gravy -Bacon -Chicken Sausage We loved the food (there were NO leftovers) so much we ended up stopping by WFK for breakfast before going home. Unfortunately todays visit was not up to my prior visits. Usually I love coming here. The people are friendly, the food is amazing, and it's one of the only local restaurants for Coarsegold. I ordered my usual biscuits with chicken gravy and a slice of apple pie. It came and it looked good! I cut into the biscuit like usual and that's when I knew something was wrong. The biscuit was harder than usual. It wasn't soft and fluffy. I shrugged it off and went in for a bite... mistake. The food was barely warm. The peas in the gravy were crunch. The biscuit was dry. This was nothing like I expected. I thought, well, maybe because I'm having breakfast for lunch, it's causing a quality problem (though I've had this for lunch before and I didn't have a problem). Apple pie is probably one of my favorite pies. This one looked like a tall apple crumb pie and I was so excited because it looked so delectable! Disappointment struck again. I tried to stab into with my fork to take a bit, but the crumb topping was in such large chunks and so hard I couldn't. I ended up pretty much destroying the pie in order to eat it. The pie crust was a bit underdone too. It tasted good though, so there is that. 1 star for service - friendly and prompt .5 stars for the pie 1 star for cleanliness Can't give 2.5 stars so rounded up I. Best little spot in town! When it's busy be prepared to wait for food, but the food is so good it's definitely worth the wait. I had the Wild Fig Salad with grilled chicken and it was amazing! I never had figs in a salad but it was delicious. Also had a pumpkin scone that was superb, actually tasted like pumpkin. The drive up the hill to this relaxing spot right along CA-Hwy 41 is easy. The food is definitely worth the drive. The waether was nice when I was there, making experiencing the delicious food enjoyable. The tart was really good as the appetizer. The wait for the food wasn't too long and you can tell it was made with love from scratch. The Sweet Potato (brisket &) Hash was really good [i incorreclt named it in the picture]. It is big enough to share, but I recommend the biscuits and sausage gravy to go along with it. The Chicken & Waffles were good even as left-overs. Now the Wild Fig Burger..... the arugula was great on the rich burger and the burger itself was the perfect size at 1/3 lb. Ordering was easy, since you can make you decisions in line as you wait for the cashier. Let me just start by saying that this place might just be the reason to return to Oakhurst ! This was our favorite place to eat during our hiking trip . The staff was friendly and helpful, the place is tiny but so cozy it almost makes you feel like you are eating at home :) The food is so flavorful and fresh you can just eat and eat... this is a place where you can satisfy your hunger and elevate the palate at the same time . I was honestly rather disappointed. I had seen the reviews so was expecting the food to be wonderful. The food was ok. The biscuits and chicken gravy had no flavor. They looked very bland and they were. Not even the hot sauce helped. Honestly regret ordering this. The other food was good but nothing special. We had classic burgers, breakfast burrito, and french toast. If you want a nice sit down breakfast this is not the place. You have to do everything yourself. Refill your coffee, grab the silverware. If there is any issue with your food order you have to take it to the counter. It was rather expensive for what we got. The bill was over $120. read more

While the food (turkey club and fried chicken sandwich) was (just) above average, it was not worth the wait, and the fried chicken was stone cold. Wild Fig is hands down my favorite place to eat in the hills and if you live in fresno it's totally worth a drive up there for a bight.
