Darling little place in a darling little town. Super chill and friendly. My aunt and I each got the Reuben and they were AMAZING. Mama had the grilled cheese, which was melty and gooey and perfect. We all got the coleslaw as a side. The portion is smallish, but the slaw is fresh and crisp and features dried cranberries, maybe? Really nice. I'd like to order more next time, if I can. My husband's steak sandwich was... small, too salty, and kind of "meh" - but he did eat it all! Adorable décor, super friendly service. Price is right too. We visited Wild Carrot this morning for a birthday celebration.......3 adults and 3 children. The food was very good (lots of breakfast choices and a great children's menu) and the staff was very accommodating to our celebration and making sure the kids needs were met. We were seated and once we ordered a soccer team came in and they asked us to relocate to the front which was fine until we took our drinks and went to the front to find out there were no tables which made her shrug her shoulders. I came into town from Chicago, the king of food in the Midwest. This place was very highly rated and I decided to give it a try. I can't tell you how happy I was with the results! First of all, when you walk in it looks like a country store. Noting the look of confusion on my face, the lady behind the counter asked me if I was there for the restaurant. I said yes and she directed me to the corner. When I walked through, the whole restaurant was revealed before my very eyes! It was super cute and quaint. All of the wait staff were very kind and attentive. And the owner made it a point to ask everybody how their food tasted. The food was fantastic! I had the cheesy beef sandwich but I don't remember the name of it. That said, that beef was marinated beautifully. And the cheese was super tasty. When I asked, I did feel that the potato salad and the carrot soup needed salt added to them... But then again, a lot of people have diets that restrict their salt intake. So it didn't bother me! I just picked up that little salt shaker, added to it and the rest of it is history. I haven't been to any other restaurant in this town but this place was particularly memorable. Not only for the food and the value but for the great conversation with the word staff as well. It seems as if they only do breakfast and lunch. So get there if you can! Story checks out... Had the hot beef sandwich served with homemade mashed potatoes on top and covered in gravy! It was messy and delicious. Decided to get the coconut cake pretty good too. I've wanted to eat here for quite some time and finally made it in last weekend for breakfast. (FYI: They stop serving breakfast at 10:30!) The little storefront is cute, and there are Wild Carrot-made goodies for purchases ranging from pickled veggies to jams to donuts. That's the front of the store. Toward the back, there are a few tables, and then down a hallway is a full dining area. We were unfortunately seated in the store area. I say unfortunately because it was an odd dining experience to eat in a store; we felt like an afterthought; and our server was manning the store cash register and trying to serve us. I think I would have rather not had those tables and have waited for the dining area. Since our server was so busy, our service suffered. When she was around, she was great. But both of our drinks ran dry long before she came back around. I'd recommend cups with larger holding capacity. They looked like normal mugs, but they held about half of what a normal mug should. The tea selection was also pretty shoddy. The kitchen was also backed up and caused a wait for the food. We were fine waiting, but a couple at the table next to us was upset and mentioned they needed to leave soon and had been waiting for a long time. When our food arrived, mine was quite delicious. I had a quiche. And I do believe it had a homemade crust. (Bonus: there are no onions in their quiche.) there were four different kinds, and I had the spinach and tomato. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. He said it was fine, but was disappointed that the sausage seemed to be like the sausage for pizza and not cooked over a skillet. We actually were more on the brunch end, and we had wanted to order some carrot cake, but our server set down the bill and never returned. We also weren't sure if we took our bill to the front or if she would come back. After waiting for several minutes, we went to the register, paid, and left without any carrot cake. Overall, I think there are a few things they could do to improve, and it might be a whole other experience sitting in the actual dining area. However, I don't think I'll be back again. read more

Walk into this place and you think this isn't a cafe the front of house is a small shop that offers chocolates for you and homemade biscuits for your pup. Artisan and home made products. Candies from yesteryear. In the back is a small restaurant that serves up a simple but delicious breakfast. Some of the best bacon you ever tasted and homemade style bread. Returned for lunch and was treated to homemade vegetable. We'd soup and one of the best Reuben sandwich. It was served on a marble rye bun. The waitstaff was extremely friendly. I have tried many of the soups and sandwiches and have never had anything I didn't enjoy. Dessert is also yummy! The Wild Carrot is a nice shop filled with items for practical needs or cute gift ideas. My daughter and I were shopping one day at a local event downtown and she wanted to go in to the Wild Carrot for some pink donuts! Our breakfast was so good that I took my husband back a week later and now it's our favorite spot to eat breakfast! We both get omelets and they are big servings for a reasonable price! Great food, nice atmosphere with a lot of cute decor, the staff has always been friendly and no complaints with the wait time or service!! This is a really good place here in town to get breakfast or lunch. They close in the early afternoon so be aware of that. I believe the kitchen closes down an hour before the cute little shop in front closes. My favorites are the Cheesesteak and chicken salad croissant. The reuben was also good. read more

I was looking for somewhere to eat on yelp since I'm out of town and this place looked delicious. My husband and I came in for lunch. The menu was small just sandwiches mostly but we both found something we liked immediately. I got the corned beef sandwich and he got the cheese steak sandwich it came with coleslaw or potato salad but we both got potato salad. He ordered a broccoli cheese ham soup and I tried it and had to order my own because it was delicious. For dessert we got the chocolate bundt cake with vanilla ice cream. The lady who helped us was very nice and the food was very delicious, i wish I could go again but I don't live in the area but if I ever come back I will definitely be eating there again read more

Cozy little place for lunch! Had a large group of ladies here on a Friday for lunch for a family reunion. Had a tea room vibe with antique furniture, old mirrors and decor. Not many choices for lunch but a good variety. There was grilled cheese, cheese steak, soup, chicken teriyaki sandwich, veggie wrap, maid rite, chicken or crap salad and a few more choices. Basket came with chips, and Cole slaw or potato salad. For about $9. I ordered the cheese steak and it was good. Our drinks were served in mason jars. Pretty cute touch. Desserts were yummy. About 6 to 8 choices. Pies, cakes etc. I ordered raspberry lemonade cake. It was good, very big portion and super sweet. Could have shared it with someone easily. My daughter ordered the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. It was way to sweet. She had a hard time eating it. Service was good. One lady was getting our whole group of 22 taken care of. She was still bringing food out by the time the first people were done eating. I don't know if it took that long to make them or if it was because she was only bringing out two meals at a time. There were other staff there but only she helped our group. This would not be a place I would take my husband. Not enough choice and a bit feminine. I just popped in at 2:50 p.m. and realized the kitchen had closed at 2 (gift shop stays open until 3) so I asked if there was any way I could get a cup of carrot soup to go. It had that charming small town ambiance. Friendly servers. Menu consisted of mostly sandwiches. Sandwiches were not bad but certainly not memorable. If anything way too greasy. Since everyone recommended desserts, we ordered a carrot cake. It was honestly the worst carrot cake we've ever tasted. The soul of a great carrot cake is the frosting. This frosting was stale and dry like it's been sitting out for a long time. Cake itself was also too dry. We stopped eating after two bites. I would have given two stars for the food but decided to bump up one more for the service and the ambiance. We will not be coming back. read more
