This place hasn't changed much in 40+ years ago. Food is great for the price, mostly simple meals with plenty of meat, potatoes and cheese. The week link here is their coffee, which was so bad on a recent visit I don't think I'd even have the courage to serve it to my dog. read more

A tiny cafe nearly hidden despite being on Main Street, this is the gem of Albert Lea. They have ruined me for pancakes, which are the size of dinner plates, from other establishments because no one compares. Great Family owned restaurant. Stopped for breakfast. We shared the big breakfast w/ french toast and a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. What can you say about eggs, bacon and hash browns other than they were properly cooked and hot. The french toast was delicious...very eggy and the custard has a hint of almond to it. The pancakes can satisfy even the largest appetite. Very reasonable prices for what you get. Theres usually a wait line to get in since its so popular but its always worth the wait. 2nd trip here for breakfast I was anxious to try the french toast. French toast was 'ok' & fresh, but their table syrup was 'watery' & flat out TERRIBLE, as in the WORST table syrup I've ever had at a restaurant. I usually avoid the chain restaurants when the mom&pop cafes are around, but Perkins down the road has MUCH better french toast & syrup. Sorry to have to say that but I just call'em like I see'em. Brunched at the B & B today. The food was what is to be expected from a local, Mom and Pop, breakfast joint in the Midwest. Exactly as expected the food was delivered hot off the grill. The service was great. I was also pleased that the fumes from the adjacent body shop were not making the place smell like paint and Bondo today. read more

We had an enjoyable breakfast at B & B Cafe. It has a friendly and warm vibe, and our server was friendly and attentive. Simple breakfast - 2 scrambled eggs, American fries, bacon, a biscuit, and coffee. The coffee was underwhelming - not much flavor, and what there was wasn't attractive. The potatoes were very good - parboiled and then griddle-fried, with actual potato flavor and texture. The bacon looked like it was locally prepared and was very tasty. The biscuit was OK. The scramble eggs were...nicely cooked scrambled eggs. You can have a very pleasant breakfast here - just don't order the coffee. This is the perfect spot if you're traveling on interstate 35 and want to stop for breakfast! It's a quaint diner with about 6 booths and some diner style seating an old time feeling. We had a group of 5 and there was one table able to accommodate,the rest were the 4 seater booths. Service was good...food was perfect home cooked greasy spoon. (Pan)cake was great...and big! The pancakes here are fantastic! My friends and I would come here occasionally when I was going to trade school in Albert Lea. Great hometown feel, the staff is always really friendly. It's absolutely necessary to stop in at the B&B! You will not be disappointed! The pancakes are the best thing you have ever put in your mouth and the staff makes this small little joint all the better! You also can't go wrong with the prices either, compared to other breakfasts places it's cheap and you leave way more satisfied and full! Only downfall is their weekend hours, (only open til about 1030 or so I believe) but for a family restaurant it's understandable! Make this your next breakfast stop! read more
