Good stuff. Got a half BLT sub and for 7 bucks it was huge, tasted good even though there was a bit too much mayo for my liking. Got my food instantaneously as there was no line. Lot of options for different toppings if that's ur thing. Music was pretty loud in my opinion. Plenty of seating and parking spots. Building is old fashioned out and inside, fits the vibe of Waverly well. Plenty of parking too. Will go here for sandwiches if I am ever back in waverly especially over subway, as their ingredients are much fresher and they are the epitome of a waverly business. read more

I really like Sub City. It's kind of a staple in town in my opinion. I've been coming here for years, and just tried the Mac and cheese this year!! It is really good!!! The service is always great, I have never had an issue here. Restaurant is always clean, not dirty or anything. Sometimes it seems like a too long of a line, but it goes really quickly!!! Don't forget to get a punch card for whole subs, I believe it's buy 10 get the 11th free? They also have a random paper they roll the sub in that says free, so every day someone gets a free sub!! If you want generous portions on your sub, want to support a smaller business, and enjoy fresh meats, cheeses, and toppings, you're going to love Sub City. While it doesn't have the shiny new interiors that other chain sub places might offer, it offers friendly service, delicious subs, and fantastic portions. Pros: -You most-likely only need a half-sized sub when you come unless you plan on eating half of your meal later. The portions here are particularly generous! The bread makes up only about 50% of the food - unlike places like Subway where you feel like it's 80% bread and only 20% topping. The meat and cheese is sliced right while you watch, and they make gigantic, generous portions of them on your sub. Definitely fresh, definitely tasty. -The service here was fantastic. They seemed a bit bored, but they were extremely friendly and patient when we walked in. They didn't seem annoyed to explain the various sub options, and all of our subs were made exactly as we requested. -The store is an old, historic train station, and they've kept the theme! There are photos of the building when it was a train station, train-themed decor, and similar things. It's a cute throwback to the fact that this building has been a part of Waverly's culture for a long time. -As mentioned above, the subs taste GOOD. And a half is super filling. -If Pokemon Go is your jam, you can reach two Pokestops from sitting inside the restaurant. Cons: -The place is definitely dated. It's not *gross* or unclean by any means, but it definitely looks dated. There are cracks in the wall, and it's clear that the building and its interior has been around for a very, very long time. Nothing is dirty, though, and with clearly-fresh coats of paint, it's clear that the owners take good care of the building they have. The bathroom isn't the prettiest, but again, functional. -The menu is complex. It's sorta like JimmyJohn's in that they have over 20 preset sub combinations you can order from, but it's like Subway in that you can add or subtract any ingredients. As they don't offer a menu online that I can find and their Facebook hasn't been updated in months, this can be pretty overwhelming for a newbie walking into the store. -They use Styrofoam cups for water requests. I know it's a nit-pick, but ack - those cups aren't so environmentally friendly. Would definitely come back! read more

I took my niece here for lunch recently. It was good! I wasn't expecting much, a little nicer than Subway maybe, but it was better. We both chose the HOT (think meat warmed in micro) subs. She had the angus beef, and I had garlic chicken parmesan. They were good, and nice since it was FREEZING out. Side options are Subway-esque - chips, coleslaw, 2 more that I can't remember. The bread was super mushy, so that was a little sad, but otherwise it was great! At first glance, the eating area seemed small, but there is a doorway to more seating. There are a other places in Waverly, but Sub City is simply better. The menu is extensive and everything tastes fresh. Location is near the bike trail and right on Bremer Ave. (main street), which makes stopping by very easy. The place can get busy during the noon hour, but the line moves fast. I would consider Sub City as my first, best, and only stop for a good sub. read more

I spent the first 12 years of my life in Waverly. Growing up there were no subways around where we lived. We always frequented the sub city in Waverly. Now it has moved location since they built the Walgreens but I tell you not a lot has changed. And that's a great thing. I stopped into this location about 730 on a Wednesday night. I was very happy to see that they were still open till eight. All of the sub cities use the same menu. It's ordered by number and you order a half sandwich or a whole sandwich being a foot-long. I got a number 14 half with the works. The works are what they call a standardize list of toppings but you can choose all your own toppings. There were two ladies working when I arrived. There were no other customers in the building. I was greeted immediately and offered assistance. I ordered and one started slicing the meet and the other started with the toppings. I love that they slice the meat and cheese to order and not in advance. They very quickly and efficiently had my sandwich ready rang me up and I was on my way. The place is in fancy although it is located in the old train depot which adds a lot of character. But it's not about the ambience it's about the good quality food. The sandwiches and meet are very fresh and very tasty. There is tons of meat on each sandwich. For $6.50 I got a sandwich and a bag of chips. Super great deal. read more

"If you like subs this is the place!" If I remember the company's history correctly Sub City was founded by a guy originally from New Jersey with a love for subs. Well let me tell you they are unlike anything you've had from the larger chain competitors. There is a variety of meats and cheeses and condiments for your sandwich. The bread has just the right texture and is very flavorful but doesn't detract from what's inside. I had the Prosciuttini, Salami, Provolone with the works: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oregano, salt, pepper, vinegar, and oil. My wife and mom had the turkey and provolone. Sub City makes a good sub and I really like the service which is much more friendly then subway. They lack vegetables that have a fresh crunch sometimes which, worries me about the freshness which is important to me but, the meat is actually existent on the sub as oppose to subway. Located next to the Bike Trail it is nice to get a sub after a nice bike ride. read more
