If you need a one-stop shop for anything related to bird, birdwatching, or birdcare, this is the store for you :) Staff is super knowledgeable and have pretty much everything you could think of. I am blessed to have a yard that is very bird friendly. I have learned to identify a number of birds that I never saw when I was growing up Owls and hawks were something we saw at the zoo, not in our yards. This is THE place to go to get started if you want to welcome feathered friends to dine and nest in your yard. As you enter, take a moment to enjoy the little nature area in the pine trees filled with a variety of bird feeders and always visited by a variety of birds enjoying their food. Once inside, there is a water feature that will help to relax you as you wander about viewing bird feeders, feeder accessories, poles, different types of feed to attract different types of birds, nesting houses, nesting material, books, nuts (that the squirrels will love), jewelry, even a few pairs of socks, and just about anything else yard related. You can prepay for seed and they will store it for you so it is not sitting in your garage tempting wildlife. Right now they have a Christmas blend and seed in snowman, owl, and penguin shapes. Oh em geeeeeee! This place is just simply adorable and amazing. I noticed an advertisement for holiday seed feeders - in the shapes of snowmen, penguins, etc. I thought they were so adorable that I made sure to visit prior to the holidays, and I'm so glad I did. This is an odd spot in Lisle - a bit of a vastland for businesses, but it's great for Wild Birds - there is plenty of space for feeders and bird baths outside the door. When I walked in, I perused a bit, and came across a "statue" of two pugs. I thought it odd (as everything else was bird related)...sure enough, the "statue" moved! They are shop dogs and just absolutely perfect - snuggly and very welcoming of friendly. The person at the counter was also walking around, and helped me with the numerous questions that I had. She even pointed out a few birds outside as we were chatting. It was clear that she was passionate about her job! As I checked out, I signed up for their newsletter, and promptly received a 20% off coupon in the mail of my total purchase. Highly recommended for all things bird-related! read more

If you're looking to bring some birds to your yard (and your milkshake won't work) then Wild Birds Unlimited is where you need to be. They have everything you need for your yard or home to make all the little birdies happy. The staff are very helpful and know their stuff. My brother was looking for a squirrel baffle for a new bird feeder and the staff were there to answer all my questions about them (of course Greg didn't have any questions, just me, and mine were all stupid). WBU has tons of bird feed, everything from the common to the more exotic. If you're actually looking to feed the squirrels they have feeders for them too, along with a large selection of bird, owl, and bat houses. If you're lucky, you'll get to see the cute dogs that wander around the store looking for a little scratch behind the ear. There is a sign posted at the cash register with info on them. read more

So me and the Wildbird have a lot in common,we rock ,we heart birdies, and we each have a load o owl statues! I try to visit Wildbird eveytime I'm in the area which turns out to be quite often since I may or may not have a craving for cold Spatens at Bavarian which is smack dab across the street! Yippee I can enjoy my two favs in one trip! Wildbird has all your birding needs, nocs,seed,bird houses, animal trinkets, and peanuts for the squirrelly friends. Good birders feed the squirrels in addtion to the birds.Bad birders just f- bomb the squirrels for trying to tear down their feeders and steal the bird seed.Wake up peeps and use your noodles, if squirrelys have some tasty chow they will leave the feeders alone,simple solution for all your anger.And not to mention squirrels are pretty damn cute and are very entertaining to watch. I would never purchase from here again. I spent $350 on a ceramic water feature from the store and the sales person was very pleasant and helpful. It looked great but only for a few months as the feature cracked over the winter! When I called the store they called back but informed me that they "recommend" not keeping the feature outside during the winter! (She advised me that my only choice would be to get a glue from a home improvement store and fill the crack !) Well, it would have been great if they had informed me when I bought it! Not only that, my wife distinctly remembers asking if it would be fine outside during the winter and was told it would be fine. Also, the feature is heavy enough that its not practical to carry it in and out each season. When I called back to talk to a person, the person at the store was outright rude, I would never buy from this store again and buyer beware. read more

WBU is great if you're looking for items which you just can't find at Home Depot, etc. I like wildlife in the backyard, especially in the winter, and WBU always has great quality seeds and interesting mixes. There suet also comes in a lot of varieties. The price point is a little higher, but its a niche business. If you enjoy birds/wildlife in your yard, you gotta visit WBU. read more

Really great little local shop. Everyone is always very helpful and pleasant. The prices on seed aren't cheap, but I like supporting them as they helped me troubleshoot some problems with my feeder setup and the food really is top quality. My go-to place for birding basics--seed, books, waterers, feeders and gifts. Love that they are dog friendly. In fact, there's usually a puddle of 3 pugs snoozing by the counter. But about the bird stuff -- the seed is fresh and they have an excellent program that allows you to buy seed ahead on sale and they store it until you need it. Birds don't like stale food anymore than I do. They carry the seed to my car and they are always ready to answer questions and provide advice. read more

When I moved here there were no bird feeders in my yard, so I went to Wild Birds Unlimited in Lisle, Illinois with my daughter who bought some feeders and seed. It didn't take long to attract lots of birds and squirrels so I have become a regular customer who asks many questions. Even when I don't ask a question, Onica anticipates them and gives me very helpful answers and information. She is knowledgeable and anxious to share it with her customers. This chain of stores have some really cute items but I just discovered I paid $8 more for a feeder than a family owned stored right down the street. This store has been around for at least 45 years. I don't believe I have ever had a worse customer service experience in my life! I had purchased a feeder and deck mount accessories from this store as a gift, which cost over $100. After giving it to the recipient, she decided she preferred a different mounting system, so I took the feeder (which they had screwed in part of the mount when I purchased it) and the other accessories back to the store. I wanted to keep the feeder, but return the mounting accessories. When I purchased the feeder originally, I remember the hanging cord being attached, but it was not on the feeder when I got home. At that time it didn't matter because it wasn't going to be hung. I told the man and woman behind the counter when I returned the accessories that I wanted the hanger after all, which had been removed. They placed one on the desk with a $4.99 price tag on it. I said (politely) I don't think I should be charged for a new hanger since they removed the one that came with the feeder originally. The male behind the counter immediately snapped at me that he wasn't going to argue over $5, but the bigger feeders don't come with hangers and proceeded to point at the display. I responded by saying he didn't have to be rude, and he came back with the snide comment "I think that you'd be unhappy with anything that doesn't go your way". I could not believe my ears! The woman behind the counter was very nice. I believe they are the owners. I have always loved Wild Birds Unlimited Stores and have frequented the one in Orland and Galena for years with no problems. I will never go back to the Lisle store, and urge others to take their business elsewhere. They obviously care nothing about their customers. read more

I just started feeding birds and the staff has been incredibly helpful and knowledgable, steering me towards things I might want to try and away from things they knew wouldn't help me accomplish my goals. I have to say, I had a great experience at this store and received impeccable customer service. I decided to come to Wild Birds Unlimited for two reasons. First, I want to try and support local stores and second I only wanted to purchase a feeder and accessories that are made in the USA!! Unfortunately I forgot the name of the woman who helped me, but she was very patient. I had my two girls with me age 5 and 3 so trying to look through the store was a bit challenging. The saleswoman helped me with different feeders, setups, possible post installation, etc for over an hour. Finally after making a decision and checking out, I wanted to use a gift card I had received. For some reason it was denied, so I completed my purchase with another form of payment. Later when I went to see why my card was denied, it showed that it was in partial authorization at Wild Birds. I contacted the store and the female sales associate and the owner were quick to assist me in resolving this matter, including writing a letter to the card company, all within a day. Long story short, the sales staff assisted me the entire time I was there to help answer all questions and to provide me with recommendations. Although prices could be found cheaper on the internet, I feel the price paid was more then fair for the personalized assistance I received, availability of advice from a local, the support I provided for my local economy, and the quick response by the owner when I had a problem. I highly recommend this store for all of your bird needs!! read more
