We are 2 minutes from Downers Grove location but we drive to Wheaton so we can see SAMM at the grooming salon (we don't like DG grooming anymore and we travel to Wheaton for Stella's spa days" now) I was just chatting with Jessica about our bad experience at DG at the end of November, and she made it up to us at HER store with some sweet presents for Stella. COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED and SO nice. We love our pup so we will be shopping and grooming at the Wheaton location-because they love her too Thank you Samm and Jessica we can't wait to visit again soon!!!

When I arrived, I informed the staff that I was there to pick up my daughter's dog. The employee handed me the grooming receipt but did not bring out the dog or explain that payment was required before the dog would be released. I stood waiting patiently, assuming they would bring the dog out as has been my experience at other PetSmart locations. While I was waiting, another customer arrived to pick up her dog. A groomer brought out a different dog, and I stated that it was not my daughter's Maltese. The groomer responded, "I know," and then told me I needed to pay first. At no point prior to that had anyone communicated this requirement to me. I explained that I have two Maltese of my own and have used PetSmart grooming services before, and I had never been required to pay before my pet was brought out. After expressing my concern to the store manager, I was told that the reason for requiring payment first was because "some people" do not pay and simply walk out. That explanation left me feeling uncomfortable and singled out. The policy was not communicated clearly, and the interaction made me question whether assumptions were being made about me. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. I am sharing this feedback because all customers deserve clear communication, consistent treatment, and respect. I hope PetSmart reviews this matter and ensures that policies are applied fairly and explained professionally to every customer.

Inconsistent Policies and Customer Service…read more I have been bringing both of my dogs to The Barking Lot for grooming for over a year. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have left me extremely disappointed. On one day, I brought in one of my dogs and was never asked to provide proof of his rabies vaccination, even though I had the documentation with me. The very next day, I brought in my other dog. He was approximately one month overdue for his rabies vaccine, and I had already scheduled his vaccination appointment for the following day. When I arrived, a different employee asked for his rabies tag and refused to accept him for grooming because I did not have it. What frustrates me most is the lack of consistency. If proof of vaccination is required, that policy should be applied equally to all customers and by all employees. Instead, one dog was accepted without any verification, while the other was turned away the next day. To make matters worse, when I later attempted to schedule another appointment online, my request was simply rejected without any explanation or communication. Beyond these issues, the front desk experience has often felt unwelcoming, with interactions coming across as passive-aggressive rather than customer-focused. I understand and respect the importance of vaccination requirements, but customers deserve consistent enforcement of policies, clear communication, and professional service. After over a year as a customer, this experience has been very disappointing.

Volunteering at St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines has truly changed our lives…read more We originally started looking for a rescue where my 6‑year‑old could volunteer alongside me. I wanted a place that was safe, welcoming, and patient with little hands that move with big enthusiasm. St. Sophia's was exactly that. From day one, they made us feel included and valued, and they treated my daughter like a real part of the team. What started as simply wanting to help quickly turned into something much bigger. Before we knew it, we took home our first foster kittens... and then our second... and then our third. Fostering became such a meaningful part of our family routine, and we loved watching these tiny lives grow and eventually go to wonderful homes. We ended up adopting one of our foster kitties. After that, we became even more involved, helping with events, supporting the shelter however we could, and becoming part of the heart of the organization. St. Sophia's truly cares about their cats, their volunteers, and their community. They're compassionate, knowledgeable, and they make it easy for families to get involved in rescue work. If you're looking for a place to volunteer, foster, or adopt, this is the place. I'm so grateful we walked through their doors.

It's one thing to make a mistake on one ear but then to do the same thing on the other ear just blows my mind. They didn't even say anything about it even though there was dried blood all over her ears. All they cared about was my Zelle transaction going through and I gave them a good tip! I'm so mad I didn't take a second and look at my dog better before I left. There's no excuse for this, who knows what the kids working there are doing to the dogs. Never going back here!

They also moved locations from Wheaton to Warrenville but didn't tell me that upon booking my appointment. Instead, they told me the day before and it was a lot farther drive than I expected. Supposedly, they moved locations back in November and still haven't updated their site. My poor dog is traumatized from her visit and has not been eating well since. She is a Shih Tzu/Bishon mix so she was a little matted. Upon check-in they had a hair length chart to choose how you wanted your dog cut. In no way did I pick a length where I couldn't grab her hair at all. They said they'd call if they had to cut her shorter than discussed, so, they called and asked about her tail and ears. I said that was ok to cut those shorter. But nowhere in that conversation did they say they had to shave her entire body too! My poor dog was completely shaved! She doesn't look the same and friends that come over can't even recognize her. I called to discuss this with the manager before writing a review and he was so scripted and rude on the phone. Seems like he's done this before since he knew exactly what to respond with. I told him that how they groomed her was not what we discussed so he said he'd have to review camera footage of me coming in and choosing what length I wanted and our phone conversation and that it would take at the minimum 2 days to review and investigate it. He ended up finding it right away and called me back in about 5 mins. He never once apologized until I got to the point where I was going to report them and write a review on every site I can. This business is just inhumane and poorly run. Nobody should bring their dog to Spotted Paw shop to be groomed. They've done this to numerous people before me as reviews on Yelp are awful. I'm regretting not doing more research before I took her there. Please go somewhere else to get your dog groomed so you don't have the same experience I did and others before me.
