Really outstanding cheese establishment. Old school- and delish. Their cheddar is primo!! As I was getting my Christmas cheese orders completed, lots of people came in for bags of still-warm cheese curds. I must return to try them!!

This little patch of heaven is literally in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin but if you're willing to make the trek it will seriously reward you with some amazing cheese & history. The town is very small and this is located at the end of a street and I think if your not looking u would drive right past it. Once inside u will be blown away by the operation right in front of your eyes. The staff are friendly and have quite a few options to purchase as well. It is pricy but dang u can't get any fresher than this place. I've saved it to my maps so if I'm ever back and within a hundred miles I'm coming back again.

Stopped to grab some cheese curds. They had tons of samples. We fell in love with the anniversary Alpine and bought the 18 year cheddar on a whim. The 18 year is one of the most incredible cheeses I've ever had in my life!

When I head up to Slinger, I do my best to visit just 10 minutes north of there to one of the most Pleasant, and tiniest, creameries in the state, Widmer's Cheese Cellar. Located in a small town at the end of a residential street, right by the river, is a traditional Wisconsin home with Swiss decor outside. When you walk inside, the retail area is Tiny But loaded with cheese made right there, just to your left, down below, in the 90-year-old creamery. With historic photos in the wall, when you look at the stainless steel back down below, you can almost picture the guys making the cheese in the 1950s right before your eyes. Like many creameries in Wisconsin, widmer's is known for brick, cheddar, and Colby. You'll find a few other varieties, and you'll find the number of aged cheeses. You can't leave here without having an aged cheddar and experiencing the difference not only between small batch cheddar and your average big box retail store cheddar, but also an aged cheddar. Wow. Prices here are excellent, and if you go in the tall refrigerator he'll find some random shaped cuts of cheeses priced a fair amount lower per pound. You'll be able to taste a few cheeses and by exactly the way you want up some of them. Staff behind the counter is very helpful. Don't forget to take home a bag of cheese curds!.

After reading a billboard on Highway 41 we headed to this very quaint, (like in a neighborhood quaint!) family owned cheese cellar and were thrilled to see a 100 year old thriving cheese maker! The brick cheese is fabulous and is actually served up the road at the Pioneer Keg as cheese curds. They are so tasty! The cellar is located in a basement so it is not large for moving around inside but it was really nostalgic and neat to see first hand how and where cheese has been made for four generations now. Highly recommend if you want some good cheese. They ship too!

This establishment is quite out of the way off the highway, but they do have done good signage and you will not get lost. I highly recommend you go out of your way to pay them a visit. Their brick cheese curds are SQUEAKY nice! (If they don't squeak, that means they are not fresh and have been refrigerated. I learned that from the true Wisconsin village people. The store front has a European feel and its perched up on a hill nicely displayed and very welcoming. Has a cozy homie feel to it. I believe this used to be a house. You ring the bell for service. They also have fresh strawberries and cream and you are recommended to bring your own container. We were so happy with the quality of their cheeses that we bought a lot of the variety. This town (village of Theresa) is small but quaint and we took a little stroll down hill and close to the establishment there is a river that was quite full when we stopped by. The pictures that o share on here are from the river surroundings. So if you are ever in the area look them up and make your way into this really one of a kind cheese places that Wisconsin has to offer.

A small store front that turns out huge awesomeness. The Brick Cheese is always our main motivation. The Brick Cheese Curds? They're pure magic. These babies are worth whatever it takes to get here.

It's a little tricky to find this place- but if you are alert and diligent, you won't miss it! Lots of great cheeses and sausages- helpful staff and fair prices. The place has lots of history so feel free to look over some of the pictures and history of the establishment. Would stop in again!

    Such a cute building.

Great cheese and very personal people. Samples were great! They have cheese curds, blocks, 12 year aged cheese, sausage. It's a great little find in a quaint town.

Excellent famous brick cheese. It can also be found in some select grocery stores and cheese stores.

Great Colby & brick. They have a nice online store if you can't get there; I visit almost every Christmas for my family.

Ask the Community - Widmer's Cheese Cellars

So excited to stop by on a weekend (Saturday) in September during our trip to Wisconsin. Do they have tours on the weekend? And if so, at what time?

Hello Sreyoshi, we can no longer give tours through our facility due to government food safety regulations. However, if you come to our retail store you can see the production room and all of the equipment right from the store. We also offer a 15… Read more

Over 300 varieties of cheese, surrounding you on shelves from floor to ceiling, that's The Cheese Cave. A cheese lover's dream! Unlike the touristy cheese shops, this place has very reasonable prices. And the cheese varieties on sale cans beyond reasonable, and grouped together on a long table in the middle of the cave. Also unlike the touristy cheese shops, the employees here are friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. You can learn a lot about cheese on your visit here. I like spicy cheeses, and I found varieties of cheese with hatch peppers, sriracha, chipotle, jalapeño, and ghost pepper. I ended up purchasing four different cheeses but I found dozens that I would like to try. If I lived anywhere near this place I would be stopping by every week to buy a few new varieties. A very enjoyable experience!

Consider coming to this cheese store if your in town. Of…read morethe things to do in Wisconsin finding a good place to buy cheese is key. Like other cheese stores, this one has a great variety. Down a slight ramp and through a glass door there is about a 15x10 room filled with Gouda goodness. Cons about this place is there isn't a private parking lot. However, there is ample 10 minute public parking which is more than enough to get in, get cheese, and get going. Each cheese was clearly labeled and priced. Every employee was friendly and helpful. Sale priced items were put on a chalkboard outside the cheese room. Everyone in my group enjoyed looking at the selection, from curds to hard cheeses. Right off the front entrance there was a room that appeared to have samples but I didn't try any. Obviously they had more than cheese including wine and cheese themed knickknacks. Open until 6 on Saturday's to get your cheese fix. Make sure you stop by because who doesn't need more cheese in their life. TL/DR: Read the first letter of every sentence for a key take away message.
