Small but MIGHTY!!! Great selection and fresh curds today! Ice cream is handmade and only $.50 per scoop!!! Good variety of cheeses from their dairy and others. Great prices! Fresh curds were half the cost of ones delivered to stores.

a variety of cheese curds - Two clear plastic containers of cheese curds are shown inside a refrigerated display case at Pine River Dairy, with labels for Cajun and white cheese curds.

Definitely worth visiting this amazing Dairy! The huge selection from T-shirts to honey and everything between The staff is professional and nice! It's clean! Great cheese!!

Lots of cheese to choose from

I remember Zutz's from decades ago. The building is well worn. There was a flag outside that said "open". The store didn't look like it was open. Went inside, it's kind of dark. A friendly fellow came down the stairs and turned the lights on. There was one cooler that was chocked full of various cheeses, cheddar, Asiago, and Swiss, oh my. We were attracted to the ghost pepper cheese. We were warned it's not for the weak. After getting it home we found it really good. This is a low key little store that sells cheese and various Wisconsin gift type items. You will get into a conversation with the owner, who is a nice guy. When it came to pay for our cheese we were informed that the store hasn't joined the 21st century yet, as they don't take any plastic. We drove to a nearby Kwik Trip to hit an ATM. Bottom line, this is not a big store like the other cheese places in the area. But the place does have wonderful cheese; and it is worthy of patronage. Bring cash.

It's an unpretentious little place with a single refrigerated case. But that case was well stocked with maybe 40-50 varieties of local and Wisconsin cheeses. Plenty to choose from without being overwhelming. The owner was a nice guy who offered cheese suggestions as well as advice on getting the cheese home in my carryon bag. Walked out with $60 bucks of cheese to share with the folks back in Virginia.

The old fashioned ice cream counter would be fun to enjoy during warmer months, it was somewhat cold outside, so we settled on a few to-go treats instead. We purchased a couple different items including some chocolates, caramels and the sleeper pick of all the items - homemade hot cocoa mix. The mix is basically leftover chocolate shavings and makes for a delicious cup of hot chocolate. They also offer a ton of molded chocolates. Dinosaurs, flowers, race cars, animals, shapes, holiday items, etc. A variety of prices and sizes and in different chocolate types. The chocolate used in the shapes is a creamy, high quality one. Fun pit stop before heading home for the day.

Their was 1 women waiting on her order and after she received hers it was approx 6-7 minutes before the only women working on what looked to be 3 subs by herself noticed me and asked if I had been helped yet, I told her no ma'am and she stopped what she was doing and took my order. I finally got my order and paid, the women who cashed me out (not the pleasent women who took my order) never smiled or said "Thank you", maybe she was having a bad day or was just tired..not a major deal but I always believe customer service is a MUST. *I also made eye contact with an older gentlemen that was working in the back area who came out to restock the clean cups and gave him a smile with none given back* I ordered the Sicilian sub and It was spicy as it advertised so I enjoyed the first half but the second have lost it's appeal due to the spiceiness of the sub so I definitely will not be getting that again. I did see a small dining are where you could order your meal and enjoy it there. I liked the bottles of wine they have displayed as decor. Their other location in Two Rivers does a great job, but I think they are trying some different ideas here and might be working out some kinks with new staff right now. One example is the changing menus. On Saturday Night they do a Steak Night with a limited menu. I have to admit, my wife and I came in to try their pizza and it wasn't on the menu on a Saturday. We decided to stay and eat off their Saturday Menu, but we did see two tables of people come in, look at the menu and leave. Not good! The steak menu was priced (approx) $30-40, and I think it was a bit of a shock when you come in for a burger and fries or pizza! They also change their menus on Tuesday and Wednesday. All seems a bit confusing, but once the regulars are developed it probably won't be as big a problem. Right now, I'd say check their menu on Facebook be for you come in. Tonight we ordered the Smothered Chicken and the Ribeye Sandwich along with an Onion Ring Appetizer. The rings were a little overdone and kind of heavy with oil. Good size, but would only order them again if I knew they wouldn't be overcooked. The Smothered Chicken was on of tonight's "specials", so it wasn't in the written menu. The waitress should have told us it was Cajun Spiced when she shared the specials (my wife doesn't like Cajun). Would have definitely ordered something else. The bun on the Ribeye Sandwich was excellent. The steak was very tender, but maybe too tender. It just seemed that it was missing the normal texture expected in steak. Also, they don't have A1 Steak Sauce (which would have been great with this sandwich) which I thought was weird, especially since it was "steak night"! The only sauce they had was mayo based. They do something I've not seen before with the bill. They add the tax to each individual item before they total the bill. Confusing when trying to figure out the tip. I did find a price error on one of my items, which they corrected when I pointed it out. (Onion Rings were listed at $7 , but he computer picked them at $8.33). Probably a programming error or a menu misprint, either way, they fixed it!

So right out of the gate we're not doing well. Once the soup got here, they redeemed themselves. French onion soup was delicious. Lots of onions, perfect amount of cheese, croutons were seasoned well. Now I will say, the pretzel was ok. The honey horseradish sauce they served with it though? Outstanding. I'd eat that by the spoonful. Be careful though, it DOES pack a punch. I had the Corned beef on light rye and my wife had the tuna sandwich. My bread was nice and soft, well flavored. The corned beef was delicious as well, even though it's just a sandwich. Hers? She liked the tuna, but was skeptical about the bread. It was a bit more firm for her liking, but she DID ask for French bread. Didn't take away from the fact it was excellent. Potato salad that came with it? Meh. It's potato salad. Nothing snazzy about it. But it was still appetizing. Just wouldn't say it's out of the park. Overall, I'd like to try a few more things from the menu as they have a range of delicious items.
